Toasted fennel = incredibly insane tastiness. I’m so sad that the farmer’s markets are closing down for the season because that means I’ll have to look elsewhere for Poco Carretto in their off season. They do deliver a 3 quart or 2 pint minimum order(or you can pick it up at Café Juanita). Or you can do a private event and get their cart’s yumminess.

I had the extreme pleasure of my first Poco Carretto encounter yesterday, at Artopia in Georgetown. I thought to myself, okay– gelato– I love gelato! I had No. Idea. What was in store for me. I had a normale(and I pronounced it right!(that’s a medium)), split malt and burnt sugar flavor. I thanked the nice lady and walked into the shade to taste my gelato. It’s G-E-L-A-T-O, people. Oh, the texture! The FLAVOR! Burnt sugar– not quite caramel, burnt, delicious bitter sweet sugar. I would marry that flavor if I could. I asked for a business card. I tore the card in half(thanks for having a nice big card with your website on both sides) and shared it with a friend. I had to remember the name. ‘Little Cart’, Poco Carretto, you’re my favorite. You were my savior on a hot summer’s day, a little piece of foodie heaven, right in the middle of a carnival in the industrial district. Thank you. I can’t wait until we meet again. And we *will* meet again.
