Ross Dress for Less

You have to be really committed to the thing you want to buy here to justify the horrific long wait to get to the checkout register. I suffered my ten minutes of boredom today and hopefully won’t be coming back for another year or more.

Poor customer service! Rude fitting room attendant Won’t be going back there anymore. I will drive to Woodinville instead

I had to purchase some clothing for my husband at 10 30 on a weeknight. I called around and found out to my delight, that Ross was open until 1130! I was able to find exactly what I wanted and was rung up by a gentleman in management by the name of Daniel. He was truly a delight. I had to go out and look at the front of the store to make sure that I was really shopping at Ross and not Nordstroms. He was extremely helpful and informative. The corporate level of Ross needs to look at the Totem Lake store for a great example of a manager in action. Also as A side note, he treated his employees with great respect which seems to be more and more unusual in today’s fast paced, highly stressful world. I just hope corporate gives him the recognition he so richly deserves so that the Totem Lake store doesn’t lose him! Jacqueline C.

I wouldn’t give any star if I could for my today’s experience in Ross in Kirkland. I was treated with disrespect by lady at fitting room. She was looking at me and talking to me like I was trying to steal. She checked all clothes (only 3 of them by the way) a few times just to make sure there are only 3 of them, and she asked me to put them back on the rail when I came out of fitting room and WAS PLANNING TO BUY THEM ALL. She searched through all the clothes again. I just left the shop and NEVER will be back. You lost my money today Ross and any future purchases. You must train your staff properly. They do not know what the customer service is.

I can’t believe I’m going to review a Ross. But: D.
This is now the second time I’ve been made to feel like a scam artist while trying to make a return.
The return assistant was incredibly nice and friendly, but the manager called to issue the return was a miserable and rude person. Hopefully Ross can locate who she is if they care at all about repeat customers. I was unable to see her name card as she never did ever look at me, only talk at me while facing sideways. It was at 9:10am on Thursday the 2^nd of April. Shorter lady. Possibly Armenian? Reaping revenge on her own life misery through others? Yep. That’s her.
I had a receipt and was attempting to return a pair of unworn shoes, and a pair of jeans. Neither fit right and both came to around 70 dollars, and so well worth a return in my budgeted life.
She inspected the shoes so incredibly closely and asked me if they’d been worn no less than three times. They had not been worn. I answered no they had not been worn, but tried on in our house by my son. I said this three times.
They did have some very minor scuffs on the soles.
She asked if there any more on the racks. I said I didn’t know. I’d purchased them last week.
She gave me some very odd generic line about how she would have to check the security tape to see something or other. I happen to know for a fact (having a friend who works at a different Ross) that this is nonsense. This is something they are told to say to somehow. I don’t know really. What are they trying to achieve from claiming to have video footage that doesn’t exist? A complete master criminal breakdown on the spot? Something that will finally put an end to those high level jewel thief like criminals who return a pair of shoes and a pair of jeans with a receipt that they bought at that very same store 7 days previously?
«I have to check the video footage» is code for «I think you’ve stolen these and are now returning them.»
Thanks for that! The irony here is that if you did have video footage that you would laughingly be able to check through, you would have seen me with my three kids shopping there. But you don’t have it, so you can’t and so your go to is to accuse me of being a thief? Again, thank you so much.
She muttered something about having to check the back room for something or other.
I told her where I’d located the shoes if she wanted me to show her. She absolutely blanked me and walked away.
She returned and after she begrudgingly allowed my return, I went straight over to the shoe isle to find another pair of the same shoes. They too had scuff marks on the soles. I imagine this is from people trying them on in store.
Urgh. URGH! If there’s ANY problem with the item, simply say that you can’t issue a return. Don’t make me squirm for 10 minutes while you enjoy the procedural thrashing you’re now administering.
If you think they’re worn or stolen or not from the store, or… I don’t know whatever else, then don’t issue me the refund.
I’d also like to point out that Ross isn’t THAT cheap. You don’t get to act like you’re some thrift store who’s sick of crack heads coming in and stealing if you don’t want to lose customers.
Those two items came out to 70 dollars, and as such if they don’t fit, I’m going to return them.
It often isn’t until you get home that you realize how that 80 dollar pair of jeans marked down to 25 is some mysteriously offcut or mislabeled 87 inch leg pair that tapers to 1 mm at the ankle that somehow you just didn’t notice in store and that’s why it’s on sale at a Ross, so lets not kid ourselves at the unfortunate missing link items of clothes that make it through the Ross filtration system to be on sale there in the first place.
Sure you sell Nike, but it’s going to be the green leopard print ones that didn’t sell 3 years previously.
Want to know why I don’t try things on in the store? Because I’m often asked to «hold things up to the camera» again as some anti theft measure. Again, I know you don’t have cameras at the changing stations. I also know that it’s corporate policy that you don’t even chase down thieves, not wanting to leave yourselves liable, so why on earth do you then treat regular customers like this? You think that this is a justifiable measure to scare people straight who would otherwise be robbing you blind?
It has the reverse effect. You’re chasing away all nice customers who want to be treated like human beings, and keeping all of the bad element who don’t mind being spoken to that way because they ARE there for the reason of theft.
Baffling. I guess I might return if it’s an absolute emergency, but given the choice I’d rather pay full price and shop online.
Okay. Rant over. I feel much better actually.

I have been shopping at Ross my whole life and today I think was my last day, after I try pants on the dude who working at the store ask me to hang it on hanger! Wtf ??? That’s not my job, I am going there to shop not to work!!! Disgusting man!!! Never come to that particular store ever again!!!

I normally love shopping here. Today i was treated very badly by daniel a manager. All because some lady tried to steal. He took his anger out on everyone trying clothes on. It was completely unprofessional and uncomfortable. I always go here for work pants since they are cheep. I would rather pay full price and be treated with respect. Just because one person is a thief doesn’t mean everone els should be punished for it. I had all intentions in spending a good amount of money on clothes and furniture. I decided to set my clothes down and leave as he then yelled at me to wait next time. There will not be a Next time. From now on i will be shopping at another store.

I stopped by to look for an electric shaver for a Christmas present. Fortunately I found one. I was very happy.
Customer service line was good. Wait was not too long.
Very pleased.

This store is relatively clean and has a decent layout.
One thing I don’t usually like for Ross stores generally is that there’s no discernible order for how stuff is arranged on the rack. That said, it’s usually busy when I go into this one, so it’s totally possible that it’s customers who are randomly putting stuff back wherever, so the store looks disorganized, but you’d think that someone who worked at the store would help fix that.
Customer service has been okay; they’re usually civil but not noticeably friendly or rude. If you end up with tons of stuff to try on the people at the fitting rooms are usually happy to hold onto a basketful of you stuff while you try on other things. However, checkout lines can be pretty long, with only 2 – 3 counters open (and a line of about 6 – 7 people).
With its shared parking lot with the mall there’s plenty of parking to be had.

I like this particular ross a bit more than the rest. First of all, its in Kirkland, which means its pretty safe, ample parking. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and theres no line to get a room which is awesome. I always seem to find something I like and end up spending more than I planned because I just keep finding more! :P

It is very confusing to go into the dressing room at this Ross and try on clothes. They change the dressing room attendant every 10 minutes so it makes it very hard to keep track of the things you want to keep and try on.

I’m not in love with this place. But given it’s convenience to my apt, if I have an hour to kill, I usually stop by once a month or so. Sadly, I may be the Duchess. I usually come in looking for clothes. Mainly tops and dresses. Sure, they’re poor quality, but what do you expect for a top that’s $ 8 and a dress that’s $ 12? I’ve gotten some cute things here, but I’ve always though the selection, organization, and cleanliness was better at the Redmond location.
Ross is good for random crap you don’t *need*, but really want. Like new luggage for half price, kitchen stuff, fleece sheets, hello kitty slippers, etc.
The prices are good, and the location is convenient if you are in Totem Lake. If you aren’t in Totem lake, probably go to another Ross, but not the one in Downtown or Tukwila, those ones are really gross.

It’s pretty ghetto and disorganized. Which I guess is pretty normal for Ross. And when I went to pay, there was only one person at the Returns desk. When I got up to pay, she asked if I had a return. I said no, just buying. She was like, oh well you were in the Returns line. I was like, well there was only ONE line, one cashier??? Uh, where else was I supposed to stand…

This place is GHETTO! When I went in, it was super picked over. I went to us the restroom… oh man… it looks like someone took a wrecking ball and threw it around in there. Some of the stall doors don’t lock, only 1 of the 2 sinks has water pressure and the paper towel dispenser is like falling apart… WTF???
Go to the won in woodinville it is WAY better!

Great cashier! She noticed me waiting in line and immediately started up a new line.
Found a great top and a nice pair of shoes for a great price! Overall, a lot of the clothes weren’t that great (some of them were pretty bad), but you can probably find a few great deals here and there that look awesome!
They also had a small petite section.

This place is ghetto. They have 2 cashiers at the busiest times of day and the lines take forever. Then you get the woman in line, who has 42 items and is paying for 23 of them by check, 15 by credit card and returning four. The clothes selection stinks too, not a whole lot of selection and the colors and styles are just weird. And then they have a «Loss Prevention» security guy at the front door. What is this, inner city Detroit? I’m done shopping at this joint.

Sometimes they have what I want, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes I find something I didn’t expect to be there.
Lines can be long, aisles can be full (of people), but the store is kept clean and the staff is somewhat pleasant. (There are a few ladies that are kinda intimidating).
There isn’t a Ross store back at home so I’ve never been to a store like Ross before. I did go to the one in Redmond, (I actually felt like I was doing something wrong for not going to «My» Ross store) and their is one in Woodinville really close.
I just like this Ross store; setup, staff, and products.

Not really my favorite Ross store, but it’s the closest location so I find myself going relatively often.
I know Ross is the type of store where it’s hit and miss, but this place is mostly miss.
On the plus side, I did find some goodies for Christmas gifts! Score!

First time visitor, but I liked the store. Decent collection, clean and well organized. I know other reviewers commented on the messiness of the store so I’m thinking — Was I just lucky… oh wait, it was a weekday.
What I did not like:
1) There is no mirror in the store. None whatsoever! So how do you suppose one would try shoes or bags?
2) The staff is a little rude and not very helpful in fact there was this one particular short lady who was in foul mood that day and went around the store asking customers if they moved one thing from one shelf to another. What was that about?
