Opened in April of 2009, The Outback Surf Shop is a full service surf retailer offering the best of all things, & catering to the campus community. Featuring all of the top brands in the industry, there is sure to be something for everyone. From the latest in board shapes from Chemistry, rubber from O’Neill, or a new pair of Rainbows, Outback Surf is here to serve all of your surf apparel and hard goods needs. Best prices for students in town including a generous student discount. The Surf Shop also provides an easy-​to-​access central campus location for Outback Adventures trip info and registration, surf and outdoor rentals, and registration for all UCSD Recreation offerings.

History

Established in 1979.

Founded within the Outback Adventures program through UC San Diego’s Recreation department, Outback has been on Campus since 1979. In addition to the surf shop, our most recent venture, we also operate an extensive guided trips program, an indoor climbing gym, a challenge course, and a full service rental shop. All on campus, readily available, and reasonably priced for students, staff, faculty, and of course our community members.

I love what I do and it shows when you come into my shop. The opportunity to help share my passion with the unique culture, surfers or otherwise, here at UC San Diego is one that I am excited about and take seriously.
