Tony was the one who helped me in 2014. He was extremely helpful and had a laid back vibe. He was always willing to work with me in getting my ideal board.
I bought a blue triple stringer-9’6 Noserider and a blue 6’4 Hybrid fish.
I have used the blue hybrid fish nonstop and have ridden some hidden pearls. 6 – 8 foot swells, peaky. I would use the hybrid fish in SD for 2−5ft conditions. He has got the perfect recommendations when it comes to that.

The board Tony set me up with is working out great! I’m now trying to learn going down the line better and not losing speed after standing up. Thanks for setting me up with a good board that I never imagined I’d be riding pretty good with after only 3 sessions! Great price, nice look, and good performance. Amazing service– Tony e-​mailed me back and was flexible on an appointment time. I went in and he spent around 30 minutes walking me through everything that I needed to know in order to make the best decision on a board. Not a hard sell– these beautifully crafted boards sell themselves. I got a 7’8″ fiberglass and he threw in complimentary wax and asked me if I needed a leash. Very helpful. I took my board out to Tourmaline a few days later and it was the BEST ride I have ever had! So thrilled that I got my board here. Great decision.

I am writing this review on my husbands behalf as he doesn’t have a Unilocal account and really wanted me to leave his feedback. A few months ago he bought a 6’6 single fin from Solana Surfboards and has really enjoyed the board. Just today he went back and bought a 9’6 Nose Rider. He came back from the beach today extremely happy with how his new board rode as well. He highly recommends Solana Surfboard for anyone looking to get a quality board for a fair price.

I made an appointment 3 days ago with Tony to surprise my son with a birthday gift of his choice, so many to choose from. We found 2 that we both really liked, one being a longboard style and the other slimmed down egg shape. I thought the egg was what he needed so we bought it. Super inexpensive prices, well made boards, nice glass and shape. I paid $ 375 and I was almost paying that back in the 80’s for boards then! I also bought a board bag which is very well made and very inexpensive also. I searched around several different shops and this place is by far the best! His customer service goes beyond any shop I have ever encountered. The next day, I thought maybe I made the wrong choice of board for my son and contacted Tony. He was so unbelievably understanding and said that they do not normally exchange boards but he wanted my son to be stoked and would exchange it. I was pretty amazed and was not expecting that at all. As it turned out, Tony, my son and I thought we made the right choice initially and we kept the board. My son is super stoked! Tony is awesome and knew exactly what would be best for my son. Solana Surfboards has 3 new customers for life, myself, my son that got this board and another son that will be getting his first board very soon.

The service is excellent and the selection of boards and accessories is terrific. The prices are exceptional. I have surfed my 9′ noserider for about two weeks and it feels every bit as good as my old epoxy Robert August longboard. So far, the quality is good.

Just bought a 9′ triple stringer noserider from Tony. Very helpful and accommodating. Low pressure attitude and provided sound advice. I’ll be back in 6+ months to review the durability of the board. Highly recommended.

bought a epoxy 7’4 from tony, this is the best board i have ever rode, super fast, flys down the line, super lite. i would recommend their epoxy boards to all, the board bag however is pretty weak one size fits all, i regret buying that.

This place is incredible, a HUGE selection of quality boards at very reasonable prices. Tony is fantastic, he is extremely knowledgable about surfing and boards, and one of the nicest business owners I’ve come across. This is a great place to buy your next board if you want quality without the huge price a lot of other shops charge. I highly recommend Tony and Solana Surf Boards due to his wide selection and killer customer service. Whether your new to surfing or a veteran, Tony can get you the right board at the right price!
He only shows boards by making an appointment, go ahead and email him, he’ll get back to you quickly, and will set up a time that works with your schedule. It’s not the standard young kid when you walk into a shop that doesn’t know what day it is, it’s the owner, and he is on it!

I searched out Solana Surfboards, read the reviews, held off until I arrived in SD… called Sunday. Tony texted me back immediately and Monday I had my 10am appointment. I bought an awesome 7’6 Wood Grain Hybrid. Tony went over so many things… he is Great! No pressure, happy to answer questions. Can’t tell you how proud I was carrying my new board… and, the many compliments on its beauty. I waxed my board and was out there… I love MY board! Thank you Tony! And, thanks fellow Unilocalers… reviews help too.

I was told in May that it would take six to eight weeks to receive a funboard I wanted to order from Solana Surfboards. I needed some extra thickness in a surfboard because of my weight, and had to special order it. Tony told me that it could take as long as ten weeks, which I was willing to do. I now learn that the board won’t be available until August or September, a wait of four to five months, which is disappointing. I would recommend only buying surfboards this company has available in their shop. I ended up buying an additional surfboard so that I could surf while I wait for the one I ordered.

Just bought the 6’4 retro fish the other day brought it out on Wednesday when it was really small. Was a great board it paddles like a boat and can catch basically anything love the board. When I bought the board got great service from tony and he helped me in picking out the board taught me a lot of things about it and did not pressure me to buy it!

Tony was great. Got a great deal on a brand new board. It’s my early Christmas gift. Can’t wait to get it in the water. Thanks again.

I purchase a 6′ 2″ retro fish from Solana Surfboards about a month ago, and wanted to wait to write a review until I got a chance to test the board. I am so stoked. This board is awesome. It is so much looser than my regular short board, and it rolls over sections pretty easy. I am really happy with it, and the price is great. I would definately buy another board from them in the future.

I got surfboard from tony, he is great guy and spends lot of time to you explaining the products and options, I spent 1.5 hrs with him choosing a board, he never ever pressured me to buy a board. Price is decent for what you get.
I have used the boards just for few days love it for now, I do not know how good the boards are, but will update the review in few months to see if the boards hold up well

I sent an email via the website to find when I could stop by with my wife since we’re locals. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Tony and he got right into it — he showed us all of the boards that he has, took the time to explain all of the differences, the way they’re made, the cons, the pros depending on our surfing experience. It made the choice really easy and we picked up 2 fun boards for $ 360 a piece — which is a bargain for a brand new fiberglass board. Tony took a total of an hour and half of his time to go through everything, even the maintenance, the cool surfing spots in the area, what to do and not do. It was a great experience.
We tested the boards the next day and we can’t be happier, on top of looking good, they’re great, we’re super happy and we already started to recommend Solana surfboards to all of our friends!

I went to Solana Surfboards to buy my first board after moving to San Diego. Tony was very helpful in answering all of my questions.
Solana Surfboards has incredible prices, great service, and offers a fantastic product. I would highly recommend!

After moving here from San Francisco and getting a place closer to the water, I was looking to get a new board, tailored to the level of surfing I am at and want to expand to. The first couple of boards I bought were second hands through Craigslist and two surf shops in PB that are probably great for getting accessories (sandals, sunnies) but I just find the young guys working there to be elitest (if you are that good kid… why are you working in a shop?!) and unhelpful. At $ 700…who can afford to make mistakes on such things?!! Even if you can sell a barely used on Craigslist, you are taking at least a 20% hit when you eventually move it… IF it is a desireable size and shape.
So anyway, I feel lucky to have found these guys after only 3 boards and near $ 2000 spent. My buddy had one that I was able to borrow for a day at Scripps… I had one of the best days yet… middle of the day, sneak swells make a difference but I grabbed over a dozen good rides on his 6’2″ fun shape! He has had it for a while and durability is a big factor for a new purchase as well. I finally called them after seeing the brand around a bit more (not a label whore, it’s just a reassuring thing.) When I reached them on a friday, after a decent bonus had my wallet feeling loose; I went by their office. Tony showed me their inventory (which was pretty sizeable!) and after going nuts with all the cool shapes, settled on a fishy looking 5’10″ with wings and a cool yellow color. I was lucky they were trying to close them out and got mine for $ 350…fair price considering the $ 700+ that I have seen for other similar models whose bodies feel much more fragile than the one I picked up from Solana. When the waves finally got good a week later, I struggled a bit initially adapting to a new size and shape but it finally kicked in when the tide improved and I found my position on it! So stoked and so stoked on the care and patience those guys showed me in finding it!
It has been my go to for the past three weeks! Like I said though, durability is an issue and I will post back after a few months… the board goes in the back with bikes, tools and grip equipment (sorry it’s just the way it goes for a working guy) and dings will be unavoidable but this baby seems to stand up so far!
