Retired Senior Volunteer Program

I decided to call the Retired Senior Volunteer Program because our house was being tented for termites. Our Neighborhood Watch said in the past there have been break-​ins in my neighborhood when houses are being tented! I didn’t want that to happen to our house so the police dept suggested that I request RSVP to drive by and walk around the property while the tent was on our house.
When I called to schedule a «Vacation House Check’ as they’re called, a sweet older person answered the phone and took down all of my info. She was very thorough and told me they would drive by and check on our property while we were gone.
BOY DID THEY!
These older folks are totally on the ball. Not only did they drive by but they called me at at all phases of the tenting process to keep me updated on our house.
First they called to make sure that the cars in the driveway were really ours.
Then to notify us that the tent was on.
Then to notify us that the tent was off.
Then to notify us that our house was not secured. (doors/​windows wide open with fans blowing the bug killing junk out)
And finally to notify us that the fans were gone, house was locked and all was secure.
Their calls were a little annoying near the end but honestly, I was grateful to have RSVP as my eyes and ears while we were out of town. I can’t complain. They are doing their job.
You know what else? They sweet older RSVP volunteers even came by after we were back home to meet us and shake our hands and make sure everything was okay. I wanted to hug them!
They even followed up with a letter and all the original paperwork/​notes that the RSVP kept on our property while we were gone.
If it wasn’t for their dedication to the community I would have been worried to bits about the safety of our house during our absence. But I had no need to be. These sweet volunteers are out there doing a fantastic job!!!
