FIRST OF ALL: DO NOT COME HERE TO BUY GROCERIES.
Everything is WAY overpriced. Come here only for items you need ASAP.
They have:
–terrible coffee
–old pastries
–super expensive everything
–surprisingly good candy/​granola bar/​snack/​drink selection
–soup
–pre-​packaged sandwiches
–cardboard applicator tampons (noooo)
–one super long line that goes really quickly
I come here only for «whoops I forgot to bring blah blah blah» and Sunshine has it. They are super convenient since it’s on campus, but I would say it’s for one or two things here and there. It is like 3 times more expensive than Ralph’s/Trader Joe’s.
They do have coffee stamp cards AND soup stamp cards, so that’s nice! still too expensive, but nice. They also take Triton Cash if that’s your thing.

So so so SO convenient! Love coming here to grab a snack while I“m on campus but don’t want to buy a lot of food. It has a bunch of organic brands that are of course more expensive than store branded stuff, but regardless, there is just about everything you could want in this store. Whether it’s freshly baked brownies/​cookies, Hot Cheetos, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Cadbury chocolate, school supplies, baby carrots, or cereal, they have it all! So impressed with the wide variety and huge selection.

Where else would I buy snacks for studying when I live off-​campus?
There’s so much variety here for snacking that it’s fit for anybody!
Those Haribo gummies and a wide selection of chocolates can be found here.
Energy drinks, Stumptown Iced Coffees (strong bottled coffee), etc for those final/​midterm days when you pull all-​niters.
I recently discovered their sandwiches/​salads too, and for anybody who lives off campus it makes a convenient lunch.
Since it’s part of the bookstore, you can charge stuff on your student account if that’s more convenient, or pay triton cash.
The lines sometimes can be quite long, but it’ll move along pretty quickly.
So conveniently located in price center!

Every morning is the same routine:
Water and coffee. I like hazelnut coffee with hazelnut cream.
Lunch:
There’s a good selection of fancy vegan rolls and cheaper egg-​salad sandwiches.
This place has everything I need! A lil expensive, but I love its fast line and nice employees.

There’s not a ton of variety when it comes to food choices at UCSD but sunshine market provides healthy alternatives and quick snacks before class. They also have a variety of coffee, which is a must for early morning classes.

The UCSD Sunshine Market has come a long way since I was a student here. I remember when it was located in one tiny corner of the bookstore and I only shopped here when I was desperate. Now it’s a a miniature grocery store that I could spend my whole lunch hour browsing through. The prices are a little high considering broke college students shop here but they have a great selection of items. You can probably find anything you’re in the mood for here: sandwiches, salads, frozen foods, hot dogs, hot soups, dessert… the list goes on and on. And don’t let the long lines scare you away. There are plenty of cashiers so the line moves quickly. The line also goes straight through the candy aisle so you have something to look at while you wait.

4 Stars ’cause they’ve got the best Haribo gummy selection. Seriously. They’ve got all of your gummy snacking needs covered.
That, and the fountain drinks. They’ve got a Pepsi machine and a Coke machine (clearly more superior) where you can fill up on sugary caffeine like that at a cheaper price than most of the food court places.

I occasionally go onto the main campus to buys snacks or coffee at the Sunshine Market. It’s very convenient, and they have a very large variety of foods/​snacks/​drinks to choose from! They even have hot soup for those who want to a hot meal. If you a re a coffee addict (like me), you can get a frequent-​buyer card and earn stamps for a free coffee!!!
The best part about Sunshine market is the fast-​moving lines. When the rest of Price Center is completely flooded with students during lunchtime, Sunshine Market never fails me because I know that I can get my food in a much shorter time frame than at other places in PC. Don’t be daunted by the long line! It goes really quickly because during busy hours, there are at least 5 people working behind the cashier counter.
This place takes cash, credit/​debit card, and triton cash. Just be aware that they don’t take dining dollars!

I love this little place! It’s grown so much since I came to UCSD in 2006. This newer location in PC East is very nice and neat and full of lovely treats.
It’s a great place to grab some coffee and a donut in the morning. It’s also the perfect place to pick up a bunch of snacks and drinks before heading to study at Geisel or CLICS. They have an amazing assortment of drinks, chips and candy. Their aisle of candy (which is located at the register line) has the best assortment of chocolates and sweets. They have so many different brands of foreign chocolate (Ritter Sport, Milka, etc) and Haribo gummies! :P
Another plus — it’s the only place I know that consistently sells California Chips — Earthquake Potato Chips, an absolute favorite of mine. It’s like a mix of salt, paprika, vinegar, and deliciousness.
The only downside is the price of some of the items. A few things are a bit overpriced, but the convenience of the Sunshine store makes up for it.

This place is the Wal-​mart of UCSD, minus all of the bargains and… well, we don’t need to get into that here.
It’s a great place to get a snack or to pick up scantrons, but seeing as how it’s run by campus greed, it’s quite expensive and so visits here are sporadic and realized only in dire need.
I would suggest not doing any heavy shopping for food here because your wallet will grow thin as fast as your tummy gets fat. So be aware!
As I said, it’s good for small purchases or something you need as soon as possible but with habitual visits, you’ll be lacking the funds for any kind of real items that you may need to buy!

The Sunshine Market, a mini store, on the UC San Diego Campus in the Price Center is a great place to pick-​up something you forgot or need (chap stick, fingernail clippers, etc). There are grab and go items and snacks to chose from.
The Sunshine Market is a great addition to the UC San Diego campus!

I’m mad at you, UCSD Sunshine Market. First, you increase the price of your hot dogs. THEN, you DECREASE the quality of your hot dogs, going from all beef to some other crap that tastes like dog poo. What gives!!!
I still love your quick lines, your nice service, and your great selection. But my tastebuds are mourning over the loss of your delicious hot dogs. Can you please serve the old hot dogs again? Give me a reason to give you 4 star reviews again…

Overpriced.
The one thing about UCSD is that the head honchos know that unless you have a car, you’re pretty much stuck on campus — and at the mercy of their sick, capitalistic greed. Everything is so expensive!
I come here when I really need something to eat or need some sort of energy drink to keep me going.
The Sunshine Market isn’t special in anyway — it offers your usual grocery store offerings minus produce and a few other things. The difference is that every time I leave, I feel more robbed than at any other grocery store (especially knowing that my fees helped build the damn place).
Oh, did I mention, the place has a weird stench to it. Agh. I hate coming here but I find myself here more times than I’d like because in some respects it’s the lesser of evils that you can find in the Price Center.

This store recently moved into the new wing of the Price Center and it’s about 4 times the size of the original. They now offer fresh fruit, a better selection of sandwiches and the personal products (stuff you’d find at Rite Aid) section is massive.
Although lines can be long at lunchtime (surprise!) the staff are quite quick and friendly.
Also, the wall sized section of dark-​chocolate is worth a mention, and I believe I just did that.
