The Caster Group specializes in acquisitions, development, and management of A-​1 Self Storage, and other commercial properties in California and Texas. Our real estate portfolio includes over 4.8 million square feet in real estate properties, including over 48 self storage locations. Our plans to open more locations in the future will make us one of California’s fastest growing self storage companies.

This facility is well maintained and the two gals who run the office are very efficient, friendly and just overall offer AMAZING customer service. They decorate the front office, which is a nice touch and the grounds are really well maintained. I called asking about space on a Thursday and moved in the following Monday. Super helpful and a great facility!

The people are great. The units are quite expensive but clean. Here’s why I am rating it so low. They provide carts for moving your stuff — great. However, they DO NOT FIT into the elevator! I had to sweat blood and tears in order to get it in the elevator by myself in the boiling heat. Either install new elevators or provide different carts. It was a horrible experience! My last unit was bigger but dirty except the elevators and carts were both huge and accommodated my needs easily.

This A1 Storage in La Mesa on Center Drive is the best of the best! The facility is kept very well lit, organized and clean. Tara and Kiara in the office are super friendly, professional, accommodating and have great customer service, they are always willing to help out and always available. You can tell they care about there storage units. It is easy to get to right off the freeway, which is good for me because I go there at least once a week. If I could give 10 stars I would!

From the day I moved in, to the day I needed to move in to a smaller storage unit, Tara and Kiara have been exceptionally friendly, helpful and completely professional with any and all of my storage needs! Also, the facility is always well kept and maintained. Both office and grounds crew know how to run a successful storage location. I will absolutely recommend A-​1 Self Storage at 8328 Center Dr to anyone I know.

Customer service is so important these days because it’s so hard to find great customer service. I was in a rush that day and the ease of the process of getting a new unit was made so smooth with the help of Tara, Kiara and Jamie. if I could give them 10 stars that’s what they would get! thank you! so much for all the help!!!

I always preach customer service and this location has it! TARA and KIARA are super duper sweethearts answered all questions with a huge smile. They remember me every time I go in and are the main reason chose I this facility (I’m big on customer service). And the prices are very very competitive. They have push carts you can use for transporting your belongings to you storage unit. There are 3 floors so they have an elevator and stairs for access.

This storage unit is way off the beaten path in La Mesa. That’s probably why it’s ridiculously inexpensive.
Pros:
–Excellent customer service. The girls in the office are always ridiculously friendly. I’ve never gotten attitude, no matter what other Unilocalers insist.
–Super secure, clean, well-​lit facility.
–It’s cheeeeeap.
–Yelp check in gets you three free boxes. EVERY SINGLE TIME you check in. It’s kind of crazy.
Cons:
–It’s out in the middle of nowhere. Way off the freeway. If you’re driving a huge, ungainly UHaul truck, it’s, uh, pretty exciting.
–The elevators are about two feet too short for the provided carts. Getting loaded carts into the elevator is a feat of physics that generally requires three adults lifting and dragging and aggressively maneuvering said cart into place. Biggest pain in the ass EVER.
–There’s very little space for loading/unloading…if you go on a Saturday afternoon, be prepared to haul your belongings a considerable distance.
I don’t know, it’s a storage unit. Whatever. It’ll keep your stuff safe and money in your bank account.

This place is very awkward. The elevator is in really bad shape and is much too small to fit a cart! It was kept clean and the staff was friendly but moving stuff in and out totally suct!

The customer service this self-​storage is well below par. Do you remember how you felt when you walked into the front office in high school… same feeling when you walk into this place. You get the, «What the hell do you want?» look.
The storage we use itself gets the job done though. The prices are satisfactory.

Self-​storage ain’t cheap but if you gotta go for it this is a VERY nice place to deal with. It’s a convenient location to those who live in the area, clean, well-​kept, very secure and safe feeling for both your stuff and yourself, and the ladies at the front desk – I’m familiar with Wendy and Jennifer – are cheerful and most helpful. I had looked into a smaller place that was cheaper nearby but it was also more inconvenient to get into and didn’t look as weatherproof. Plus there was only one man at the office and he wasn’t always in. Here there is always someone to help you when the office is open and you can get to your stuff up till 8pm with your access codes. The ladies even give you a courtesy call if you don’t pay on time so you won’t get a late fee.
