Act II Trolley Shop

Don’t waste your time trying to sell to these people. The twenty-​something hot shot buyer didn’t even bother to look at the clothes I brought for sale which included Michael Kors, Jones New York, Liz Claiborne and more… many still had the tags on. She just looked at the first two items and said she could tell from the pattern of the fabric that they were old. I bought them myself. They were not. Look for other places to sell or better yet donate to someone who will be grateful to receive practically new clothes and accessories in pristine condition.

Seriously love love love it here in always find great deals, easy to park even with construction. almost better because parking is free! All the girls are super helpful and help me try on things I wouldnt even thought id like. Thanks girls!

I have been shopping at Act II for years, since I grew up in the neighborhood. I always liked to call it my little secret, but it’s just too goo to not share. Virtually every designer pair of jeans or article of clothing I own is from Act II. There prices are so reasonable and their products are trendy. And everytime I go there I feel like I have a personal shopper because the ladies are always picking out new things that just came in for me to try because they think it would look good on me. ANd they usually are right. I don’t really shop anywhere else for me. This is definitely MY store!

Overall great women’s resale store. I go to all of the local resale stores and both locations of this store have been favorites for the past 8 years.
Both stores are clean and organized and they have a wide of array of used clothing and new jewelry. Over the years I have bought tons of treasures here, including a Tahari suit, Hudson jeans, True Religion jeans, an Emma Fox bag, several Calvin Klein dresses and a pair of practically new Aldo snakeskin shoes, just to name a few.
The prices are great, especially compared to other similar stores that re-​sell designer jeans for $ 70 or $ 80. I usually pay between $ 30 and $ 50 for really good designer finds. They are also very picky about the clothes they buy, so everything in the store is at a bare minimum, in very good condition.
The best part is that they offer stamp cards. For every $ 20 you spend you get a stamp. When you have spent $ 200 you can use the card to get $ 20 off your next purchase.

I absolutely love both stores and the people who work there. I’ve lost over 100 lbs in the past few years, and have been able to get affordable and nice resale clothing throughout the transition.
The girls are so helpful and go out of their way to help you find the right outfit.
The negative reviews on here are people who are mad about not getting paid what they wanted or expected for their used clothing. I find it very impressive that act II only buys things that are in very good conditions and in style. That’s what sets them apart from all other resale stores!

I love Act II! I started going there because it was on the way home from college and it was gentle on my student budget, and I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. The ladies working there are really sweet, the store is well-​organized, and everything is a good price. I’ve sold there as well, and they give you a decent amount of cash for each item they know they’ll be able to sell (or 25% more if you want store credit). Today was my best day yet – between store credit from selling clothes, a giftcard from one of their facebook promotions, and a $ 5 off $ 15 deal, I ended up paying only $ 7 for $ 38 worth of already discounted clothes and accessories. Good luck finding that anywhere else!

On friday at approximately 530 I went in to purchase 200 dollars worth of merchandise. I am a retired police officer from Buffalo NY and came to California to start a new life. So I would have purchase hundreds of dollars of merchandise throughout the years of living here now. I literally came here with only 2 suit cases. I love the merchandise there but I wouldn’t ever purchase a single item ever again.
I had to relieve myself so badly and when I asked to use the bathroom the manager, who by the way should not be one because she did not handle my request in any professional way, and I believe her name is Amada, told me that she couldn’t let me use it for insurance reasons. This is ridiculous. I was a customer. I can understand that policy for people not shopping or the vagrants and twerkers (crystal meth looking night of the living dead people). The gentleman right next door to the smaller Act II shop that owns a men’s clothing store felt so bad for me and let me use his and I wasn’t even a customer.
So for those of you who shop there make sure you relieve yourself before shopping there.

Love, Love, Love this store. They have 7 for all mankind jeans, True Religion jeans, Abercrombie jeans and shorts. All were in amazing condition.
The dresses and tops were stylish, in amazing condition. There were plenty to chose from. (There was plenty of everything to chose from).
Went in on a Sunday close to closing time. Where most staff (understandably so) would have pushed us out the door. The gal who was working was inviting and displayed the perfect balance of helpfulness with out being over bearing. Thank you Act 2 my Birthday was a perfect day Thanks to my sister and YOU GUYS!

A complete rip off!!! I understand that this is resale but when you bring 26 brand new pairs of jeans with tags, 5 shirts new with tags and 3 coach purses only used once with dust bags I would expect to be offered more than $ 27!!! Sold everything on ebay a week later for over $ 300!

I love these 2 stores! When I have sold my clothes I get a fair market value for them. You can’t ask for more than that. I love shopping here also. For a small amount of money you walk away with a fantastic new outfit and accessories. Their dollar table is fantastic for adults and kids and always has fresh new items to take home. I have never had a bad experience here, from customer service to clothes these stores are a must have for any women.

Love this store! I’ve been coming here for many many years. Great selection at reasonable prices. Lots of variety — jewelry, shoes, clothing from business to casual. This is my go to place when I need interview or business work clothes. I haven’t lived in East County since the 90s and still go here. Two location walking distance to each other. Also — text message deals and coupons.

Stopped in for a quick second while I was out and about in La Mesa.
They seemed to have some good stuff and a lot of past past seasons stuff.
I did find some work shirts that never go out of style for about $ 5 each which was great!

I do sell some of my clothes from time to time. My rule is: If I haven’t worn it in a couple of months, chances are I won’t wear it again. So they find their way into clothing resale shops. I’ve tried Buffalo Exchange where the experience was less than satisfactory. Finally I discovered a place that’s closer to where I live, so I decided to give it a shot.
You have to set up an appointment with Act II to sell your stuff. I did that, and also put my clothes in hangers as they’ve pointed out on their website. I went to this location where I was greeted upon walking in and taken to a back room where a friendly staff member helped hang up my stuff. She asked me to step out of the room (in a nice way), read their terms and conditions and fill out a raffle stub (a.k.a. mailing list signup form) while I unavoidably perused their selection.
I was called back in and was offered $ 30 for about five tops, three pairs of jeans (including one by Citizens of Humanity), and a purse. I took the offer.
I’m glad that they found some use (and profit) in my old stuff. And thankfully I didn’t have to encounter any attitude as some of the reviews have reported on here. All in all I had a lovely experience here, and won’t hesitate to come back and sell again.

This place has nice gently worn items at a half way decent price. I did not buy anything because I did not truly spend a lot of time. The store does not really have my style of clothes

I have no idea how they judge what they should take– I brought in a lot of very fashionable clothing, from nordies– nordies rack, loehmanns, macys — all within 2 years. NOTHING was acceptable, as I was walking around the store and saw pure junk it made me wonder-​how can they be in business so long– they obviously don’t cater to every woman? The owner Deanna does not dress aged appropriately– she must be at least 52 dresses like a 21 year old. I ended up at My Sisters Closet– they loved everything!

Act II is a resale shop where you can sell your clothes and buy gently worn, «used» clothing, too. I’m a huge advocate of buying second-​hand because there is way too much overconsumption of new, cheaply made clothing that ends up in thrift stores and, ultimately, landfills.
SO, that being said, I initially came into Act II because of all the $ 1 jewelry they have out front. They have the coolest earrings, rings, and necklaces for $ 1, all the time. Inside, they also have a ton of shoes (which, thankfully, are all very new-​looking), purses and clutches, and of course clothes. The clothing is generally what you’d expect of a resale shop — nothing too junky or worn-​looking, and reasonably priced ($ 5+ for tops, $ 10+ for pants, etc.). They have fitting rooms, too, which you don’t always find at resale or thrift stores.
And last but not least, I’ve been into both locations (down the street from each other) countless times, and their staff members are always exceptionally nice. Unfortunately, there are reviews that mention awful customer service, but I’ve never experienced that during my many (many!) visits.

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE.
The women who work at this store act like they have a high end shop on Rodeo Dr. It’s RESALE! They also rip you off when you sell to them and act like they don’t care because they don’t NEED your business. RUDE!

Clothes are… good. Clean, well pressed and organized. They have amazing scarfs and hats — my favorite indulgences. So why only 2 stars? Because the place tries too damn hard to be upscale. I don’t like being followed around, every item of clothing whisked out of my hand to some dressing room while I’m browsing. I don’t like the look of boredom on my cashier’s face after she gives me an unsatisfied once over. I’m here because I want nicer clothes at decent prices. I’m dressed sloppy because I’m not going anywhere except to try on some damn clothes. And I’m sorry that the color of pants a girlfriend planned my top for isn’t trendy enough for you.
The gal at the other location (Act II pt1) was slightly nicer. But she kept picking out clothes that were too small for me — which was flattering but ultimately useless. Meh. I bought clothes. They looked nice enough for the interview I was picking them out for… I just prefer to shop without feeling like someone is looking over my shoulder. Especially when I go to a second hand store. If I want a boutique experience I’d prefer to pay enough for one that treats me like a queen, not one that makes me feel like Julia Roberts pre-​Richard Gere.

And you know what? It wasn’t bad at all!
They gave me much better prices the last 2 times I’ve been. I still don’t buy from them, but thanks to my shopping addiction I am constantly purging clothing that is still pretty much in fashion that I haven’t worn in months.
I have some friends that try and sell to other stores, and based on that I’d say this place is probably a better idea.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I made an appointment for Saturday @ 2:15pm to sell some things (you call at 9:30am for an appointment that day). I was told that everything needed to be on hangers — I thought that was a little strange but ok.
After parking down the street, I haul a box full of GREAT stuff in there and had a bag full of hangers on one arm. As soon as I walk in the door, the salesperson asks if I have an appointment, I say yes (I was about 20 minutes EARLY). I said I have the hangers here, motioning to the bag. Then she says «I TOLD YOU WHEN YOU CALLED THAT EVERYTHING NEEDED TO BE ON HANGERS!». I immediately turned around and left and took my stuff to «Whatever» in Grossmont Center where they gave me a fair price for my designer duds sans the B*%&^Y attitude.
I will NEVER go back to Act II, whether to sell or buy. Someone needs a course in how to treat /​talk to your customers.
