Art of Furnishing & Mattress

I had been looking for a basic bunk bed set for months now. I had used the app called offerup where this company had a bunk bed listed. I followed up again last week and they had one in stock. So I headed towards the business to buy it on the spot then.
When I got there, John looked everywhere and there was none on the premises, but it was saying there was one in stock. He apologized about me coming down when there was not one available to buy. He offered to order one and have it sent to the business. I asked if he could order it and have it shipped to my home, then we would have a deal. (I had driven far to get the item in the first place.) He agreed with the solution and was quick to order it.
My order came in as expected by the date told, which impressed me a lot. The contacted my in the morning and had it at my doorstep at the time they confirmed with me.
I checked in to Unilocal while I was there and I got a pillow. Which was also a plus.
This place is not very big, more of a Mom and Pop type store. That was perfect though. I felt very taken care of and it was how I like to conduct business with people.

Found the store on craigslist in the midst of hundreds of other ads for beds. I checked out a guy on Miramar Road and it was a joke. Drove to La Mess and met John St. John he made me a fantastic deal on a box spring and mattress. Bread delivered the bed he was prompt and courteous. Couldn’t have had a better experience. Highly recommended and will do business with you again.

My sales person just happened to be the owner of the store. Brad introduced me to the love of my life. My brand new mattress!
I love shopping, but mattress shopping isn’t your typical girls day out with your favorite BFFs at the mall. There are way to many choices and you get nothing but pushy salespeople that have dollar signs in their eyes.
I’ve been needing a new mattress for awhile and decided to pop in and see what this place had available. I was there for less then 20 minutes before I was a proud new owner of an amazing new mattress at a price far below what I expected to pay. I thought it was pretty cool that I could speak directly with the owner and not just some random salesperson. Brad was not just friendly and helpful. He actually knew what he was talking about!
I guess you can say it was love at first site. Even though I tested multiple options, it was the first mattress I laid eyes on that I took home. Thanks to Brad I got a killer price with free same day delivery. I really don’t know why anyone would go anywhere else.

Great store! I waited until the last minute to buy furniture before having family over. After checking out a few other spots and finding nothing, I was ready to give up. With the help of Jason, I was able to find the perfect pieces. The prices are reasonable and the service is top-​notch.

This place has good ratings for a reason. I came with one of my long time friends who had just recently moved and needed some new furniture for her house. She kept raving about the selection they have as if it was an IKEA. Well its far from the size of an IKEA but they make up for it with a friendly staff an a store filled with everything you would want in your house. I wasn’t suppose to get anything but still managed to purchase one small item and I’m sure if I had more space I would have purchased a lot more.

I’m new to the area so I use Unilocal a lot more these days. And after off loading my moving truck and finding out my old mattress was accidentally left behind in my move from Las Vegas, I had an emergency on my hands. I needed something inexpensive because this was am unexpected cost. So I visited the store found exactly what I needed and even purchased their Unilocal deal. It’s not a big selection. But that could work in your favor if you are very indecisive. They have exactly what you need in terms of price range and variety. Had a great experience!

Just movedfrom michigan and got a place but then i need to find furniture for my place i looked up some places near me in la mesa with some good deals and i came across these guys as soon as i walked in they great you in a very friendly manner and i was impressed with their inventory and different prices meeting all budgets and the diff types of mattresses. i bought a very nice full size bed set and these guys made it quick delivered it within an hour and on top of it gave me a free pillow haha thanks a lot guys you guys are the best! Recommended!!!

Just came in today and picked up an awesome deal on two twin mattresses! Brad was very knowlegeable and provided excellent customer service. I even got two free pillows! I will definitely be back the next time I am looking for some new furniture.

I bought a bed and when it was delivered I was not satisfied, Called the owner the next day and right away the owner did everything he could to make me happy, despite of the choice of words I used, he brought me over a new bed and one of better quality! I highly recommend this furniture store, Any place that cares about my happiness not counting there cost, I 100% will shop there again!

I had a good experience here, I was able to buy an affordable bed and boxspring and they delivered it to my house free of charge. Both guys working were courteous, and I love my new bed!

I gave them a 5 start because the products and quality are great! The employees are very knowledgeable and are super helpful with getting you a deal. I bought a custom mattress here which was really AWESOME that they offer this service and the price was amazing. We got a Cali King size memory foam custom framed mattress with adjusters for it to go up and down. This would have cost me anywhere from 3 – 5 thousand dollars and I got it for $ 2300. I know this is discount mattress, so most people would not pay this much. You can get a queen size mattress for $ 150 — $ 600 at this store. I am in love with my bed and in love with this store.
I also picked up a nice dresser, night stand and mirror for only $ 300 a few months later. I just can’t believe the prices. You will NOT get these PRICES anywhere else. They also match prices on furniture as well. If you find it online for cheaper they will match the price.
I love this place so much that I even got 3 of my friends to buy mattresses from this place. They are SUPER happy! Thank you!

I honestly wish I could just give this place no stars. This company lures you in with false advertising on their windows (Serta? They don’t even sell Serta! They sell off brand copies of Serta mattresses!) and advertise prices they can’t actually give you. Ask about the special painted on their windows (twin bed for $ 199, full for $ 299 and queen for $ 399). I asked and the mattresses they are trying to sell at this price might as well be cardboard.
Anyways, the mattresses they sell at this store are absolutely terrible. I made the mistake of I buying a queen size «Tuxedo» made by SpinalCare Bedding for $ 799 which I paid in FULL and thank god I did, because they were trying to charge me 200% interest for 3 months financing. That was the first red flag which I failed to notice. Once I purchased the mattress the lady (who is always working and doesn’t really even seem to know what she’s doing or how their financing even works) took us out front and pulled our new mattress OUT OF A VAN! They store all of their mattresses in that AND as if that wasn’t enough, they store the van up the street parking it for days in front of people’s houses. It’s an eye sore! It doesn’t even have their logo on it. Instead, it has the faded information of an old party rental company (probably theirs that went under for ripping people off without a care in the world). THAT, was red flag #2. Still, I remained positive that I had made a good purchase and proud that I had given my business to a local shop rather than a big company. Well, weeks after breaking it in I was still having terrible back pain. I called the art of furnishing to see about returning it but I wasn’t able to get anywhere with the lady who sold it to us OR with Brad, the owner. Apparently they don’t do refunds (because they don’t care about customer satisfaction) and they failed to advise me of their policy at the time of purchase. I couldn’t even exchange it because I didn’t purchase the mattress cover (Which this lady again, NEVER even offered me BECAUSE SHE DOESNT KNOW WHAT SHE’S DOING). Finally, after speaking to Brad (over the phone because you can never find him there) he offered to exchange the mattress for 20% restocking fee ($ 160). Restocking fee? You mean to throw it back in the van you park on the street? At that point I was livid. I didn’t want another of their cheap mattresses and I was not going to pay them MORE money to throw the mattress into a van and pay the difference of another mattress of theirs.
To be honest, I don’t even know how legitimate this spinal care bedding manufacturer is because I have not been able to get ahold of them since I bought the mattress two and half months ago. Not only that, but there are two spinal care bedding manufacturers that I found on Google (

) and NEITHER of them sell the so called «Tuxedo Mattress» I bought.
Seriously, don’t waste your time or money here and just take your business elsewhere. These guys don’t care about customer satisfaction or their reputation. This is my only Unilocal review to date because I have never been so disgusted with a company’s practices and/​or ethics. I feel like more people need to be made aware of how this company conducts itself before making the mistake of purchasing ANYTHING from here, like I did.

Beware of Off-​Brand mattresses that will hurt you.
I recently had neck surgery and figured I would purchase a new mattress here because it is down the street from my house instead of going to a well known store.
Wow, if I only knew the headache that would ensue.
To start the location has been many many different names and this new «Art Of Furnishing» is hardly art. More like Doodles.
So after my surgery I have been recovering quite well until I started sleeping on my new off-​brand mattress. I would wake up with an oddly sore neck and back. I figured, meh I’ll give it a few more days. Fast forward to this week and I have been sleeping on the couch because of the lack of sleep.
After going to the store to inquire about getting a refund because I was not comfortable with any of their off-​brand padded torture devices. (they offer exchanges minus 20% «restocking fee» THEY STORE THEIR MATTRESSES IN A TRUCK PARKED ON THE STREET… for 20% I’ll throw the mattress back in the truck if you want.) I was told it’s not possible and to speak to the owner if maybe we could work something out because of my situation.
After explaining my situation to Brad, the owner, who very politely told me to F*** off and that I was pretty much S.O.L.
I honestly will never purchase another mattress or anything from this store again.
I am willing to assume my ignorance in purchasing a mattress here was the only sale they’ve had in a long time which is why they won’t refund me.
Either way, avoid this store. Do yourself a favor.
