My hair was done by Brandie and she did a very beautiful job. She builds trust with her clients by listening to what you want and doing exactly that or better than you expect. I love how knowledgable she is. Definitely recommend her if you are new in town and are looking for someone that you can trust with your hair.

Dannielle is AMAZING! Kind, courteous, and well educated. She took my dark hair to a lighter strawberry/​blonde ombré tone. She trimmed my length and added layers into it to bring life back! Highly recommend her!!!

4 stars because I’ve never actually got anything done here before, but I buy Aveda products here and love love love and swear by Aveda! The people who work here are very nice and helpful and it seems very clean.

Once inside Avia, you will never believe it’s located in a busy mall. The spa does a great job transporting you to a relaxing setting. The dim lighting and calm music help to relax you before you even set foot in the massage room. I came here for a little «me time» and to get away from the stresses of life and wedding planning. If you need a massage, Thuc is your girl. This was only my second massage ever, and it was amazing. I will definitely be back and I will be requesting Thuc!!! THANK YOU!!!

Came back for my 2^nd ever service here and you can sure bet I requested Sylvia! She is the best! Has this nurturing motherly feel to her and is super professional. She knows how to take care of you and really knows how to make someone feel comfortable and relaxed. Ladies, forget wasting your money on getting your nails filled! Save all that money you would have used for these facials with Sylvia! You won’t regret it and I can guarantee you will leave wanting more. My bday is in October and gift certs to Avia is all I want.

I was referred to Amber Fox by a friend. She was amazing. from the color of my hair all the way to shampooing… great head massage! I will refer my friends and family. She also told me that she does wedding and holiday party hair! If you need someone that is both amazing and great cost go see her!

The person before me was late to her appt which made me wait 30 minutes. But my stylist Danielle was really nice and helpful. She told me about the deal they had going on and I used it and saved 25 $ on product I was already going to buy. Their salon was very clean and looked really cool with the way it was designed. I also was offered fruit infused water or coffee. Very nice place to your get your hair done!

I have been going here for eyebrow waxes for quite some time. They have always been pretty good and I’ve left satisfied.
Yesterday I received an eyebrow wax from Tovah that left the skin above my right eye extremely red and painful. My eyebrows themselves look good, I even like how she made them more rounded than others typically do– but the surrounding skin was left looking awful and feeling even worse. I posted a photo on here so you can see what I’m talking about. I thought it would have calmed down by now, and am very disappointed it hasn’t. As a side note, I typically DO NOT have sensitive skin. I have been getting brow waxes for years at various places. NOT ONCE has anything like this happened to me– even when I was on Accutane a couple years ago.
UPDATE: I called Avia and spoke to the manager. She was really kind and offered to let me come in for a soothing treatment and left me a gift card at the front desk. She recommended I use Neosporin and ice on the raw skin. Hopefully this heals soon.

Joanie Benson is the best! Management staff is very friendly and professional. Having a Keurig is a nice touch too.

I am still so furious at this salon.
I walked in about a week ago to see if an experienced stylist could trim my way overgrown bangs. After waiting about 10 minutes, I was greeted by a stylist who said she had time to do my bangs.
I showed this stylist 3 different pictures of what I wanted (2 of the pictures were of me a few years ago).
This stylist BUTCHERED my bangs! I mean BUTCHERED!!! I wanted soft side swept bangs but this girl gave me BLUNT straight across bangs! She started the bangs about halfway back on the top of my head… so I have these thick, ugly, blunt straight across bangs that start way too far back. So horrible.
She ruined my hair. Ruined it.
I called the next day to speak to a manager but was informed there were no managers there and that I’d have to call the next day.
The next day I called and spoke with the manager. She said she would refund my money.
Duh… that is the very least you could do.
Unfortunately now my hair is ruined.
Avoid this place like the plague.

I got Amber for a haircut and she is the best, she washed my hair and then she brushed it and then blow dryed and even straighten it for only $ 17. That’s a good price and plus they use really good products.

GET YOUR BROWS DONE BY JENNY!
This review is long overdue and really only specifically about Jenny, my brow goddess! I had hated my thick, unruly eyebrows my entire life until about two years ago when I called Avia to schedule a brow waxing. I had been going there for a few months prior to this appointment, and just got an appointment with whoever was available at the time. Everyone I had been to had done an alright job, but Jenny is spectacular! Every time I go in there she does such an amazing job. She always spends her time waxing, plucking, and even trimming down to the perfect shape. Every time I come in I am wowed even more and more on how great my brows look! I leave Avia feeling like a new person and thanks to her I love my brows. I refuse to go anywhere else.

My husband have me a $ 300 gift certificate to this place. I decided to get a haircut. I called in to make an appointment and the receptionist was lovely. I told her that I had never been to this place before but was interested in getting my haircut. She offered me Jaime. I went in and was greeted in a timely manner. I explained to Jaime that I hadn’t gotten my haircut in quite sometime but that I wanted a trim and for her to give me long layers. She was very nice while cutting my hair. She mostly faced me away from the mirror. She finished and started to style my hair but instead of drying my hair with a round brush she just kind of dried it and then used the straightening iron. When she finished she turned me towards the mirror and I was disappointed. The layers looked choppy and disconnected. When I asked why they looked like that she said it was my hair texture and proceeded to «point cut» my hair. I noticed that she was upset and asked her to please stop. She walked away. I don’t believe in being a rude dissatisfied customer. I don’t cuss and I’m not abusive. I do expect better customer service. As I put my hair in a bun and walked out she told me that they were comping the cut. I did not feel great about the cut and just asked the manager if she believed my hair looked acceptable. She said it looked like a layered cut to her. I said, «Okay» and declined her offer for another stylist. I’m glad they didn’t charge me but I didn’t want a free terrible cut, I wanted to feel like I had just stepped out of a spa/​salon with great hair.
Disappointed :(

I’ve been to the spa side of Avia before, always with good results, and this time was no different.
I’ve read many reviews about the snotty front desk gals so I headed straight for the spa front desk instead, where the young lady was very nice and helpful. Didn’t get her name but she has pastel green hair (she’s adorable). She lead me to the changing room where I changed into a robe, put my valuables in the locked lockers, and waited in the calming spa waiting area. With a fireplace, trompe l’oeil painted ceiling and soft music, it was very soothing, however a little less light in here would be nice. Francis was my therapist and she was very intent on making sure I was happy and comfortable. You wear a little bikini top and bottom (for you shy girls). I had a Caribbean massage package which, I was told, will be discontinued soon. It included a salt rub and mud mask, as well as body and foot massage. I told her I love scalp massages so she centered there, and it was heavenly! She used some kind of brush to invigorate my scalp… So good. Then I had a Vichy shower, which was a little, jarring, but then kind of fun. It turns out I did have to go to the front desk to pay, but happily the woman who helped was lovely. I usually go to this spa because my husband gets me a gift card, but I’m always happy with the service!

My services I experienced for the 1^st time were Great! Althouth… they neglected to charge for a massage that my Dad put on a gift card. Which he told me about… For my Birthday!
I called to set appt and I was told I had a swedish massage, enzymic clay wrap and european facial set up already I asked the cost to upgrade to deep tissue massage…$ 20. I said OK! Set date n time.
Upon my checking out I was charged for the massage!!! Called n inquired… They tried to say I ordered the massage. I didnt! I explained that my father was never charged! They said ya something is wrong here. It just doesnt add up right! Called again they _​will only give me half back! NOT HAPPY! How do I get charged for their mistake?
I should get a full refund of the massage!
I agreed to the upgrade, products purchaced and $ 40 tip! Still nothing 2 weeks past now! Guess I have to march in and demand my refund!!!
This is the WORST Customer service ever received. Especially being a new client!

Jenny Hansen is THE BEST esthetician you will EVER go to! Her technique is beyond compare. She loves what she does and will make sure that she personalizes your treatment to your needs. I have been using Dermalogica for years now under her skin care direction and my skin has never been healthier and looked this amazing. I always shock people when they find out how old I am! Which is awesome! :)
She isn’t hard on the up sell either. She will make recommendations which, if I were you, I would listen to. She won’t steer you wrong. She is very professional and works to make sure your experience is like the first time each time!
She is also an AMAZING waxer! She does speed waxing too! Excellent ripper — you won’t know what hit ya! ha!
I wish I could move her up here to Oregon with me… I miss not being able to go to her on a regular basis. But anytime I come back home to San Diego, she is my first stop during my trip! Love you gurl!

Went here to have a botched hair color job done on me at Mary Marie’s (see my earlier review) corrected. I was fortunate to get Susan as my colorist & stylist. THIS place is very professional as one would expect, is tastefully decorated, and their staff are customer-​focused. You don’t feel like you’re at a catty high school reunion while you’re trying to get a word in to your stylist regarding the developing disaster forming on your head. Susan was excellent and came highly recommended for color repair (Katie at Haircutters in La Mesa is another pro, but she was unavailable).
Susan really understands color and takes the time to do a true consultation. She worked her magic and seemed to do so effortlessly. And, as for styling my hair for the first time it was near-​perfect. I happily gave her a 30% tip! Certainly more expensive than Haircutters, but if you want the full «spa» experience by talented professionals, this is the place to go. Highly recommended.
(And p. s., this place doesn’t have to have former employees leave them 5-​star feedback in order to artificially inflate their Unilocal-​rep, or claim any negative FB is «fake.» Sad.)

Let me just say that I had been in desperate need of getting my hair cut and colored and it was last minute on a Sunday so of course no one was opened! I must have spent a good hour on Unilocal looking at salons hoping and praying that one of then would be open or have an opening! Just when I thought all hope was lost Avia Salon and Day Spa popped up and to my complete disbelief they were open and had an immediate opening for me!
I had Jennifer I believe her name was and she was amazing! She did an excellent color process on my hair and considering how long my hair is she made quick and easy work of it!
Sadly I ended up having to cut my session short due to an unexpected turn of events and I didn’t end up getting my hair cut but once I told her I was in a rush to leave she quickly got me washed dried and styled so at least I didn’t have to leave looking like a hot mess!
Pricing is very reasonable here as well! I will definitely be back when I have more time and hopefully I can get my hair cut!
