Specialties
Would you like to get messy? Our studio gives ceramic artists a place to bring their ideas to life. Students will have the chance to form their clay creations on our potter’s wheels, or by using hand building techniques. Enroll in our ceramics classes and receive patient pottery instruction from our qualified staff. Our website offers contact information for the instructors.
Our sales gallery features work made by our many talented clay artists, most of whom create their pottery on site. We have limited show room hours because part of the room is used as a waiting area for the music students who take classes with the music teacher who rents one of our offices. Appointments can always be made if you cannot come by on Monday or Thursday.
History
Established in 2008.
This business began in October 2008 to meet the needs of the San Diego’s East County potters without their own studios. Since then, throughout the «Great Recession» we have managed to grow our business to include classes, mini– workshops, and committed community of Studio Potters who contribute monthly to the expense of our lease so we can all have a great place to work together.
Meet the Business Owner
Elly D.
Business Owner
Elly Dotseth opened Get Centered Clay Studio in October of 2008. Sharon Patsko became a business partner in January 2010. Elly has been a professional ceramic artist for more than 20 years. She has taught in the public schools as well as privately. Now she devotes most of her time to creating her own work, and to running the business so that others in the community will have a place to work.
Sharon and Elly both taught classes at this studio for many years, but are now retired from teaching classes on a regular basis.
