We’ve been going to Greg’s for awhile now and they are always so helpful, friendly and reasonably quick.

My family has been coming to this location for over 30 years. I know it’s different owners now and different mechanics but the loyal and professional service hasn’t changed! I wouldn’t dream of taking my cars anywhere else. Even when I’ve asked their opinion on certain services they’ve one back to me and told me they weren’t necessary and not to waste my money. I recently had a Lexus that i just wanted the oil changed and a full inspection done. They found an oil leak and basically held my hand through the process of calling Lexus and getting them to take care of the $ 1,900 fix for free. This is what I mean as honest as the day is long. They looked up all the service records of the vehicle and car facts for me without me asking! You might find a little cheaper out there but that’s exactly what you’ll get… cheaper parts and fluids. There’s a lot to be said about absolute piece of mind that the work is getting done right and your not having someone looking to make a few more bucks off you by selling work you don’t need. As far as some of the bad reviews below I’d just like to say I’m sorry for your bad experience. With that said, as far as the price of oil changes go… like I stated above, if you want good products don’t expect to get the Jiffy Lube $ 10 oil change. You’re not going to get a recycled low viscosity oil here with a piece of junk filter. You won’t be back in 3−5k miles to need another oil change. Instead you won’t be back till around 8K miles. That’s the reason it’s more expensive. Do yourself a favor and research the oil that those fly by night places use

Used this auto shop on several occasions. They have been kind but do not always do adequate work, which in time, has cost me a lot more than if I had gone elsewhere. When I informed them of what we had believed the problem was, they did NOT tend to the issue, and charged me for other repairs than replacing the very minor, cheap part I needed. I will without a doubt take my vehicle anywhere else now.

01÷10÷15, Greg’s Automotive Helix repaired a leaking head gasket on my vehicle. As always they were accurate in their estimate, fair in their price and performed high quality work. While performing the repair they noticed a leaking strut; rather than ask me if they could repair it, they suggested it appeared relatively new and could still be under warranty. I checked my paperwork and sure enough it was still under warranty. This business is honest and can be trusted to do good work at a fair price.

My car broke down about 2 miles away. I called AAA and they recommended this place to me. Sherri, who greeted me and helped me with the paperwork, was extremely nice, and extremely helpful. They are AAA certified.

I enjoyed the customer service Sherri. Good look’in out on keeping me informed. Your mechanic Oscar did a fantastic job on the Corvette. I’m looking forward to enjoying my ride. At this time I have no complaints. Wishing you the best:)

We’ve taken our cars to Helix Auto for many years – ever since we found out that our warranty was not affected by not taking them to the dealers where we bought them, and paid much more for the same service. We have always had excellent service to our vehicles and always treated as though we were the most important customer of the day!
I have and will continue to refer others to them without hesitation.

I am surprised by the bad reviews when I went they have a lot of clientele and very good great customer service. I paid $ 49 for a diagnostic were able to pinpoint what was wrong with my vehicle. I never take my car to a mechanic because I don’t trust shops, but they really took care of me I just have to say thank you so much

Love this place. I have a 98′ Volvo s70 and I had been getting ripped off by the dealership for repairs. I came here to get my car checked out And I have never been more impressed. They found issues with the car that the dealership said they fixed and gave me a great price for all the things I had to get done. I just recently got my brakes done and the price was great and it was so quick I couldn’t believe it! Sherri the front desk lady is a sweetheart and she really walked me through everything to make sure I understood what was going on. Great prices, great customer service, definitely my auto repair shop of choice!!!

This place tried to rip off my friend she is elderly and she has a older vintage car. They told her the car was worth $ 3, 800 dollars and it needed $ 4, 400 dollars in repairs to the engine. Then proceed to offer her $ 350.00 dollars to take it off her hands. WOW REALLY!!! Just beware!

I will not be a returning customer. Went in to get my oil changed and they tried to sell me Kendricks oil, no thank you. I told them i wanted Mobile 1 synthetic and they qouted me $ 60 which i was okay with. The oil change ended up being $ 92 …RIDICULOUS.

Sorry, but a $ 45.00 oil change (no air cleaner or other add-on’s), is $ 10.00 higher than the highest «no-​coupon» charge at the local Toyota dealership and that just won’t do. I want to support neighborhood business, I really do. But while I don’t expect them to give their services away, I do expect something in the reasonable range, and Greg’s just let me down.

We drive our cars (Toyota and Chevy) for years and Greg’s Automotive in Helix has kept them running and safe. They help us prioritize what needs to be done today vs. what needs to be monitored for the longer term. When we have questions about costs, they’re very clear on how we’re being billed and what things cost. If there’s a problem after a service or work is done (and that’s rare, but it can happen), we’ve taken it back, they made adjustments and they called us later to be sure everything was running.

Watch out for this place! My Daughter took her car there and they told her she needed a «cam sensor» she told them to go ahead and fix it, then they told her that they couldn’t fix the problem and still wants to charge her for nothing. They actually called in someone else to try and fix it, they didn’t know how to do the job. They are trying to make her pay even though they don’t know how to fix the car. They did not even install the «cam sensor» so basically they are charging for looking at it and scratching their heads! Unacceptable! They are not honest or trustworthy and we are telling all our friends about this.

These guys have been in business for a long time in El Cajon and La Mesa, and for good reason: they are great at what they do, and they are honest and fair with everyone. I have taken various vehicles to them over the last 10 years, and they have done a great job at a reasonable price every time. They are always forthcoming about estimates, they list all prices in detail, and will call you promptly to let you know if there are any changes. Plus, they will pick you up from home and drop you off if you need a ride. Another business bought out their El Cajon location, but the La Mesa shop is still in service and doing well. If you live nearby, this is the place to get your work done!
