Hot House Flowers

The store always seems to be closed, lights out and does not respond to the number left on the door when called. Finally got in touch via text, said I wanted to get flowers for my girlfriend’s birthday, and I was asked what day works best for me but then after responding, NEVER heard back and each day when I drive by on my way home (during the listed business hours), the place is closed!
It would have been nice to be able to support a locally owned small business, especially being new to the area and wanting to build a relationship for future occasions, but after this experience, very unlikely. Was really hoping to get the same great experience everyone else on these reviews has raved about.

Carolyn is the best florist in San Diego hands down! She made a wonderful lei for my brothers graduation in short notice and it came out perfect! She is the most kind person I have ever spoken too and the overall service of Hot House Flowers is amazing! I will be using Hot House for all my flower arrangements! Lovedd this place! Got my corsage from here for prom and the girl was sooo nice, honestly one of the sweetest people I’[ve met. I told her exactly what I wanted and texted her a picture I found on Pinterest and she did exactly what I wanted. Not only did I love it but I got compliments on it all day. The flowers were great too they were in great condition all night and even till the day after. Definately a place I will continue to go to and recommend

Got a white lei for my daughter’s graduation and it was beautiful! It is still in good condition the day after. Carolyn is such a sweet lady and thank you for the gerbera too! I will definitely be back.

This place is amazing. I came with a friend for a prom corsage. My corsage was well priced and the shop is super clean. I have recommend hot house to all my friends, and EVERY single one has come back and told me that they loved the place too! All in all go here for all your flower needs!

I highly recommend! Carolyn the owner is super sweet and super nice. I called her around 3PM the day before my brothers graduation asking for orchid leis hopefully to be picked up at 7PM (when they close) and sadly it could not be done since she didn’t have any orchids in stock. but she reassured me that she could have it by 10AM next day (2hours before they normally open). Originally I had ordered a white/​purple and 1 purple one but with her best judgement she was able to get her hands on blue orchids and made me a blue one and boy was it gorgeous! Thanks Carolyn for being extremely fast and friendly with my last minute order :)

I LOVE small, local businesses and always hope that they give me something to love! Carolyn’s shop gives you much to love! She is an artist and a lovely soul! She always greets you with a happy smile and if you are a return customer, a hug!
I have purchased numerous cut bouquets from her, as well as succulent gardens in darling containers, and her unique tillandsia creations! She loves to add her creative juices to your own personal projects, as well!
Her prices are very reasonable and she is more than happy to go above and beyond for your special requests.
I also recently attended her flower arranging course 101 and it was so much fun. She surrounds herself with great people and we had a nice group, nice appetizers, and learned lots!
I cannot say enough about this shop or Carolyn and HIGHLY recommend you check her out for your floral needs! And! She is going to be supporting lots of creative ladies and adding very unique gifts to her shop soon!

Had a great experience here without even stepping foot in the door. I wanted something special for a friend who lost her mother but didn’t have time to shop and deliver it myself. Chose a bouquet on the website. They did the rest.
For those of you who live life via text, this is your spot. Fast, friendly and easy! I text everything I wanted, and she kept me updated the entire time. She tried delivering a fresh bouquet the following day, but no one was home, so she tried again later. Loved the extra effort rather than just leaving them to wilt over at the front door. A picture text so I can see, a text once the delivery was complete!

I was looking for a local florist that was reasonable and came across Hot House. From the beginning I felt like I was a number one priority. Easy to deal with, great service and accommodating. Pricing for the flowers was within my budget so I was happy. Then the flowers arrived. WOW! The bouquet was gorgeous. Flowers fresh and smelling spectacular! My wife loves them and this surely made our anniversary a special day!!! I’ll be back and would tell anyone to go here for flowers!!!

Several weeks ago I drove to my hometown (Spring Valley) for a friend’s engagement/​house warming party and needed to pick up some flowers. It had been 7 years since I moved from SD and had never shopped at any florists so alas I turned to Unilocal.Hot House Flowers had outstanding reviews so that’s where I decided on. I was very pleased with my initial phone conversation with Carolyn who seemed extremely personable and down to earth. I gave her a brief description of what I wanted and she did a fabulous job on a beautiful bouquet! She’s super sweet and I would definitely recommend her for any type of event. Will definitely be coming back for any flower needs when in town :)

Carolyn is so friendly and easy to work with, and she has great prices! After several failed attempts at finding a good florist for my wedding, I was worried I wouldn’t find anyone. I’m so glad I called Carolyn! We spoke a lot via phone and email and she made sure to do exactly what I wanted. The wedding is over and now she’s going to help me preserve some of the flowers. She’s great! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding florist! You will not be disappointed!

I wanted something special for my wife’s birthday especially since I was going to be out of town the day of. I contracted Carolyn on a recommendation of a friend. All I can say is that Carolyn is GREAT!!! She worked with me on very specific delivery times and the design was amazing. I just told her what flowers my wife liked and she created something special. I’ve now found my go to florist.

Hot House Flowers did the flowers for my wedding last July and they were so gorgeous. Carolyn really listened to what I wanted, the day of my wedding I felt it all looked perfect and was exactly what I pictured. She also worked within our budget. Love love love this business and its owner. Carolyn is great!

Most friendly personable phone experience in 15 years. I live several states away, and wasn’t finding clear reviews for a florist close to where I was requesting delivery. Although Hot House is too far from the nursing home where I am sending flowers, the owner (?) Carolyn went out of her way to refer me to a local florist; calling me back within minutes and chatting for a while about local businesses, sustainably sourced flowers, etc… (Support Local!!)
I called the other — local — florist and they were expecting my call, super friendly, and I am confident the arrangement will be wonderful.
~Customer Service is all but lost these days… for example when I asked for a referral from a local grocery store (Von’s — who I contacted as a last resort in not coming up with a florist close to my delivery location, and, as it turns out, does not deliver) the florist said: «No, just Google it. I couldn’t say, because they are my competition» (even though they’re not competitors because Von’s does not deliver, which is the service I was in need of). Jeeze, people! There is enough business for quality businesses to go ’round! ~
If in the future I need flowers in this area, you better believe I’ll be going to Carolyn, not only because she is professional and from the photos creates incredible arrangements, but because she clearly loves what she does and loves sharing that with others through her business, whether she is the one to directly financially profit or not.

From the moment you step into the store you’re just left speechless.
My fiancé and I had out first appointment with Carolyn to be our florist for our wedding. It was amazing to speak with someone so happy and go to. Carolyn takes such pride in her work and you can see why. When you begin to ask her about her craft/​background, she takes the cake for the as we settled to saying a «Jack of all trades», but a «Jane of all trades». She’s so artistic and creative, from her flowers to her shop. She gives off such an awesome vibe. She will leave you walking out the shop making you feel like a new friend; and part of the Hot House Flowers family.

Carolyn is an amazing person and her work is great as well. I came in late on Saturday with last minute request for a white flower arrangement for my aunt funeral and Carolyn was very accommodating in regards to timeline and price range. She delivered a nice flower arrangement as I descried t her the next day. I will def recommend her to family and friends and she always got business with me.

Carolyn is the sweetest person ever! My daughter had her first father daughter dance and I thought it would be fun for her to get a corsage. I’ve driven by many times but finally stopped in. Best decision, her shop is adorable and she is extremely talented. I had my crazy almost 2 year old and 8 week old niece when I picked it up, and she gave my niece some beautiful flowers and took a few pictures of her in the car seat. I can’t say enough good things, go there you won’t get flowers anywhere else!

Carolyn was the most sweetest person ive ever met. My wedding bouquet was beautiful. She went above and beyond for me! She wrapped it in lace ribbon to match my dress. She just made them so pretty.

I am not very big on reviews. I needed a last minute bouquet so i dropped by on a Sunday afternoon and as I had expected the shop was closed. Though it was closed, Carolyn assertively ushered me inside.
I was surprised not just because she invited me in on her day off but that she was genuinely excited that i had dropped by. She said she was just hanging around to clean up the shop from an event the night before and she’d be happy to make me a bouquet.
I have to admit, i don’t spend much time in flower shops but the ones I’ve been to tend to smell funny and are occupied by old ladies with green aprons. Lol. I thought flowers were supposed to smell good? Anyway, though i am no one to judge i have to note this place was nothing of the sort and had a flare only a younger person could inject. I was pleased to see cool murals on the wall, lounge furniture in the event you wanted to hang out and even a few open wine bottles throughout ;) (not sure if I’m supposed to write that… sorry… lol) Even though the place was in disarray from the day/​night before the potential was undeniable. All that to say it was a place way more hip then any florist I’ve been to.
I want to note however that though the shop was dope none of the qualities above compare to Carolyns attentiveness as she pleasurably chatted me up and masterfully whipped up a quick bouquet. As a man with the piss poor planning alot of us tend to have she was a lifesaver to help me out in a jam. The truth is i could get a decent bouquet at most flower shops but it is this type of personal service that made me write this review. It is that type of service and connection that makes me happy to support Carolyn, her store and her brand. Her remarkable service is not just reflective of her professionalism, but the true pride she takes in herself and her work.
I don’t buy flowers often but i will return if i do and defintely send whoever i know who needs to buy them her way. And who knows? Maybe I’ll drop in to say hi when I’m in the neighborhood ;) Either way, Carolyn deserves a visit if you’re looking for a florist. Her pride, skill, and willingness to go above and beyond prove her to be the ‘Creative Wizardess’ she so proudly proclaims herself to be!

Carolyn is the most positive and amazing person that I have ever met. We purchased 8 chairs from her. Yes, you heard me right — chairs! She’s so talented that she also sells furniture. I also got to see some of her work around the shop and love everything. The quality of the flowers look great, and it really shows that she takes her time in creating arrangements or whatever your heart desires. I’m hoping to use her flower services for future events.
