Santana’s Proper Cuts Barber Lounge

What can I say? Marcos Santana gave me a comb over fade last Thursday. He did an awesome job. Again, these guys set a good example of how a barbershop should be. Awesome barbers and the best atmosphere among the barbershop I have been to! Keep it up, guys.

My review of this barber shop is long overdue. I’ve been coming to this shop ever since it opened up. All these barbers are pure professionals and there haircuts are super clean. I’ve moved and now I’m located about 25 miles away but I still make sure to always come get my haircut here. I like that I’m able to book an appointment online and have a dedicated time slot all to myself. No waiting around. I like that I’m able to book with any of them and I know that I’m going to get the results I’m looking for. Don’t roll the dice anymore! Give these professionals a shot… You won’t be disappointed.

I went to santanas today and got a proper fade by Jamal Anthony. Excellent service, excellent haircut, and an excellent atmosphere! I will definitely be coming back. THANKS GUYS!

First of all I want to take a minute to apologize to Santana it took me over five years to write a review. Over five years I have followed Santana to different shops until he opened his own place.
(Now back to the actual review) personable, passionate, eager, honest and funny. These are some of the characteristics Santana possesses. He probably knows my life better than half my friends. He is a great guy to have a conversation with while getting an amazing haircut and beard trim.
Not only is Santana awesome the remainder of the staff is cool as hell! I’ve never had a bad experience with Santana and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this shop to anyone looking for a great haircut and typically a little ESPN in the background.

always get my cut from Shawn best barber in town, always keeps me looking fresh. make an appointment & takes about 45 minutes, best barber in town !!! I’ll definitely send people to this guy. book ur appointments with Shawn ! you’ll love him !!!

The skills are beyond compare, but the business ethics are what will keep me from ever going back. I was charged a «no show, no call» fee for no reason. I called, and showed proof of my call, with no answer also, even though their policy clearly states that 1^st time is a warning and 2^nd time you get charged $ 10, I was still charged. Apparently, they care nothing for their own policies or their customers, but for money.
I went back to give them a 2^nd chance and instead of being greeted with an apology, it was a «…it’s not personal, it’s business,» attitude as I was given before.

Clean and professional shop. I came in as a walk-​in and was greeted as soon as I sat down and asked if I had an appointment. They let me know that I can book an appointment online for future visits and gave me a brochure with the list of services and prices. The wait was only a few minutes but it could be a lot longer based on the amount of time they put into each haircut.
I had my hair cut by Shawn. I wanted to try something new. I showed him a picture to go off of and he went to work, asking for input on a few options. He’s a boss with the straight razor and did a great job blending different lengths.
A side note that highlights the collegial atmosphere in the shop: One of the other barbers left while I was getting my haircut. He took the time to say goodbye to each person in the shop individually before leaving.

This is by far the best barber I ever been to, thanks to antjuan he cuts really nice, comes with razor too, best part is he takes his time to make you look good, he dosent Rush you at all, I’ll always be back & I’ll be referring my friends & family here !! Thanks antjuan!!!

I was a walk in with my son on a Monday evening and was instantly greeted. My son (7) sat down with Antjuan and received THE best haircut he’s ever had. I pretty much gave a vague idea and Antjuan ran with it and was right on!
I decided to go ahead and get mine cut. Being Military, I wanted to try something different but within regulation. Again, just going off of a vague description… Antjuan work his magic and have me an awesome new look.
These gentlemen were extremely friendly… Great conversation, and made me and my family feel right at home. My son and I will DEFINITELY be back.

First off, I’ve served in the military for 6+ years, I’ve been cut by various barbers in different parts of the world. It took me awhile to find the right spot in San Diego. I got cut by Marcos at Level 1 and have been coming to him since. He gives a solid cut and always makes you feel welcome.
I usually use Unilocal as a reference and don’t leave reviews. I was just skimming their page and saw Gabriel’s response.
1. If you thrive on receiving greetings every time you walk through the door, go to super cuts or some other chain. They’re only human, so they didn’t say «hey», not a big deal.
2. If waiting for a solid cut is an issue, go to super cuts.
3. Barber have to eat too!
The ACTUAL moral of the story is, if you don’t know how barber shops work, stick to super cuts and save the appointments for those who know what they’re doing. Gabriel’s issue was not worthy of 1 star.
Gabriel failed to mention he showed up late as well.

Professional, clean, family friendly, and amazing hair cuts. I’ve never left this place angry about my haircut. All the barbers here have superb skills set, no hesitation to choose any of them. Just be sure to book an appointment online.

These guys down here are doing a solid job cuttin hair. They are always up on the new styles coming out and keep the atmosphere in the place cool. You can appreciate how they are Doug business. I would recommend this place to anyone that likes the fact that they don’t have to sit and wait at the barbershop for hours to get cut cause they have you schedule appointments. It’s good for all age groups too. Can’t lose going here to get cut!

I NEVER have anything negative to say about anyone or anything, but if its serious enough, I’ll Let my opinion and experience be known.
My friend is friends with the wife of a barber at Santana’s Proper Cuts in La Mesa, and they asked for me to get my next hair cut there– I agreed.
My appointment was this morning and let me just say that I will NEVER step foot in that shop again.
The barber I had an appt with was sitting in his chair listening to music, got up and left to get something to eat. Three barbers were in there when I walked in, and not one of them greeted me. I sat in the waiting lobby for 15 min, and was finally was addressed ONLY WHEN I asked for my barber.
They all looked around and said, «oh, he just left to get some food.»
They offered me a free hair cut for the following day, I declined and told them how unprofessional they were.
I go above and beyond to ensure that my Clients are completely satisfied. I ask for feedback and apply it to my future clients to ensure their satisfaction.
If someone is spending their money (more importantly their time) on YOU, then you better bend over backwards, jump, and bark when they need you to, because they TRUST you out of everyone else… Am I right or am I right?!
Anyhow, moral of the story is do not go there and waste your time or money unless you want to walk into a shop filled with unprofessional kids.

Santana cut my 3 year olds’ hair and did a great job! He is very professional and excellent with kids. He was able to cut and style my sons hair so he didn’t have that «little kid» hair cut anymore and looks like a little man. I’m happy to have found our barber shop now after looking for a few years! We will always be returning here.

Let me just start off by saying if you go here ask for Shawn. The man knows what he’s doing and is very friendly and just an overall good dude. Had a great experience here and I will make this my permanent place were I go for haircuts now

Santana cut my sons hair and did a great job. My son loves his haircut it’s just what he wanted.
He was super nice and professional, the place was clean and the price is great. Booking appointments is easy too.
We will definitely be back.

I went there on a Sunday at noon.
Two things.
The owner Santana opened right on time. For me being in the military for 14 years being punctual is very important so this was a big plus.
Next, there are very few barber shops that are open on Sundays so this is a huge plus.
As I arrived the owner greeted my four year old son and I. He asked me to sit down and I told him how I wanted my hair. I could see he was very competent at his job which to me is very important especially when getting a haircut. I was very satisfied by the quality of work and have decided I will be returning back for my haircuts.
The place was clean which to me a barber shop should be. Just because its barber shop it doesn’t mean the place should be filthy with hair. This place was clean and you can definitely see it.
There are two big TV’s and he had football playing which was nice. I really like that, but honestly I wasn’t even paying attention to my Raiders because the conversation was so good. Thank you Santana! Keep up the good work

Santana has been my barber for 4 years. I’ve followed him as he worked at different barbershops and I’m excited he has his own place now. The shop is super clean! Brand new set up and the feel inside of the shop is classy. It’s hard to find a place to get a good fade where the vibe inside of the shop is not hood. These guys are keeping it classy and doing an awesome job making people look good. If Santana is busy ask for Shawn. He does a great job too!
