Discount Tire Store – Lafayette, IN

I have never had a bad experience here! They are always polite and courteous. Any time I have had a problem or needed new tires, this is where we go!

I cannot review their actual service, since we were unable to obtain it. My daughter, who is away at college, had a flat tire and badly needed four new tires, and quickly. We don’t live in the same state. I chose Discount Tire because of the great reviews. They also have a website that states you can purchase your tires and schedule an appointment through the site. That sounded like just what we needed since I was going to be buying the tires. I chose the tires, reviewed my purchase with all taxes and charges, then went through the final stage, the appointment scheduling process. I had my credit card in my hand, ready to pay, when I clicked the Submit button for the order. However, I instead found that payment cannot be made on the website; you cannot actually purchase tires on their site, you can only «order» the tires. So what we had at that point was a set of tires on order that I wasn’t able to pay for and an appointment scheduled for my daughter the next day at 4 p.m.
Not much to be done about it at that point, so we printed out the confirmation of the tires ordered and the appointment date/​time. When my daughter arrived at Discount Tire for her scheduled appointment, she was told they had no record of the appointment. She was told that their website hadn’t been working for about a week (yet was apparently left up and running with no notice that it isn’t working). However, it worked well enough to give all the prompts for a purchase, an appointment scheduler, and a confirmation!
To continue the Comedy of Errors, they then told my daughter that, in addition to not being able to pay on the website, they would not accept my credit card, even with me on the phone, nor was there any other form of payment they would accept other than her paying at the desk. I would not have a problem with this at all if there weren’t so many misleading things that led up to this point. In the end, that works out great for us because we have already wasted enough time trying to do business with Discount Tire.

I had an initial mixed experience with these guys, but it turned out positively, and Discount Tire just earned a new customer.
Came in on ⁷⁄₂₃ to get a used tire to replace a recent flat until I could afford a set of new tires in August. The guy I spoke with on ⁷⁄₂₂ quoted me $ 40 for a used tire, mounted and balanced, and said that they would buy it back from me if I came back the next month for new tires.
I come in on the morning of 7/​23, and this used tire supposedly sold since the day before. Now I’m looking at $ 100 for a new tire, mounted and balanced. The guy I spoke with on ⁷⁄₂₂ wasn’t there, and the guy I did talk to the morning of ⁷⁄₂₃ was polite (albeit not very experienced-​sounding), but I left, very unhappy about having to pay more than twice the quoted price.
I get back that afternoon and was told that due to an error in their inventory system, they actually did have a used tire in stock. Apparently someone tried to call me that morning, but I missed it, and when I called back, the guy I spoke with didn’t give me any of this info. Anyways, the guy I did speak with upon return to the shop (different from the one I spoke to that morning) not only refunded me the $ 100, but is letting me use the used tire for free as a «loaner». He also advised that I wait until early September instead of late August to come back for new tires, as they are doing a Labor Day sale that will save me even more money.
So, to sum up:
Pros:
— These guys seem like an honest bunch and definitely have interest in building long-​term customer relationships
— I got a free tire to use for a month out of the deal
— Everyone was very polite
— Shop was clean and organized. It was super busy, and I had to wait over 20 minutes to be helped both times I came in, but to their credit, they always had 3 – 4 guys working the front desk area.
Cons:
— Apparently their inventory management system can use some work
— Phone communication needs improvement. The guy I spoke with after calling the shop back did not have any of the relevant info about the used tire mixup — he simply said «it looks like everything is all ready»
— Long wait times for service — I stood in line for 20+ minutes both in the morning and afternoon. Not sure whether this is typical or not.
Overall, my experience ended up being positive, and I will be sure to come back for new tires in a month to give these guys a more thorough shot at my business.

I’ve purchased two sets of tires from these guys and they are the best. I’ve also had to replace a single tire (via their road hazard warranty) and was very pleased with how much they credited me based on remaining tread. I’ve also had them mount old tires onto new wheels. Service is EXCEPTIONAL (service desk and techs) and price is extremely competitive. I’ve never had any problem with a scuffed wheels when taking my cars to this place (as I have at other places). I also appreciate the free rotations. This is one place I’d keep going back to for my tire needs even if the price was 10% more than the competition.

This place is probably the cleanest & nicest tire place in town. They have free bottled water & comfortable chairs to wait in. They always have plenty of people working in front so there is hardly ever a line to check in/​out. They are near Starbucks & many other places to walk to if you have a long wait. The only reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars is because they don’t have WiFi.

One of my employees recommended Discount Tire, and I’m so glad I gave them a chance. I typically purchased tires for my BMW at the dealer. However, I had an unexpected flat tire and called DeFouw BMW. They informed me that my tire was out of stock and would take about a week to arrive. I was stunned. Shouldn’t they keep things as common as tires in stock? Desperate (I was pulled over on the side of the road), I called Discount Tire. And YES!!! They had my tire in stock, and it was much less expensive than DeFouw. So I hobbled over to Discount Tire and had me back on the road in under 30 minutes. And, they stayed open longer to finish the work even though it was closing time for them. A few months went by and the tire went flat. I had bought the insurance on the tire thinking that I’d give this a try. I live in a neighborhood with new construction, so running over nails and other debris can happen. Honestly, I thought I would be in for an argument. My cynical side thought that they would find a way to weasel out of replacing my tire. But YES!!! They did it. And again, I was in and out in under 30 minutes. I’ve have been so HAPPY with this company. Today, my husband purchased a new tire for his truck and bought the insurance for the other three tires. I could not recommend Discount Tire more highly, and I will never buy a tire from another company.

Really good service. Prices are straightforward. They explain everything without talking down to you because you are female. Will come here for future titres.

I’ve always had good luck with Discount Tire stores, and the Lafayette location was no different. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are very fair with warranty issues.
