I love this store! Finally a cute shop that I go to and not have to travel far to get to. Julie is always such a fun energy when you walk in the store and very helpful with anything you need! It’s also clear that she’s very up to date on fashion and trends. I can always stop by here to get anything I need — more dressy type clothing, casual, comfortable, jewelry! Literally anything I need I don’t have to look any further than J. Colleen.

It worth going off Moutn Diablo Boulevard onto the tiny side street of Lafayette circle in order to check out this multidimensional store. It’s high-​concept all the way. Where else could you go to buy the perfect scented meditation candle, a new scooter, a great painting for your living room and a smashing designer dress? Oddly, although the store is radically diverse, it feels seamless and integrated. All the products flow naturally into each other. But on to specifics: The Consignment Room: Ladies! You must go visit this. The prices in there are amazing considering the very high level of quality and brand and condition of these items. Both the new and consignment fashions are curated with equally artistic, refreshing, and yet earthy sensibility. Interspersed between the jewelry and clothing displays you will find solid original art for sale, (and even good transportation to drive home in); and, for me, most especially, wonderful candles that equal the quality of Carolina Candles and surpass the overrated Yankee Candles. My favorite is the pear scented mini-​candle in tin at only $ 6. I am an amateur photographer-​artist and amateur web-​desiner and graphic guy who is inspired by original color schemes and textures, (that’s why I was in a clothing store that would otherwise not have much to offer guys). Lafayette, for being a small town, has a lot of competition, and so its important to support this effort. The staff is very happy and friendly and glad to meet you. My hope is that the whole community will come out to support this designer boutique.

Our community is so lucky to have a boutique like J. Colleen. The owner, Julio Rubio, has amazing taste! I love everything… from the new hip items to treat myself to (and not break the bank), to the wonderful vintage consignment clothes in the back to the beautiful line of authentic Hawaiian jewelry.
I was also so fortunate to be able to host an event there recently to share the
movement and story after a wonderful yoga class taught by the talented Beverly Jane. The setting on the back patio was absolutely perfect for an intimate gathering.
I highly recommend a visit to this «off the beaten path» gem. The vibe is warm and inviting… a place where you will want to stay for awhile!

J. Colleen Boutique is definitely one of my favorite places to shop.
They have just about everything you need to feel great about yourself, and they have these things for just about every age range. The variety of the merchandise they have is what blows me away, from jewelry and clothes to art work and even a Vespa scooter!
What makes this boutique so enjoyable is the staff, they are so welcome, helpful, and warm-​hearted. They make sure you are not only finding everything you were hoping to find, but also that you are comfortable in the store.
In summary, J. Colleen is a must see!

J. Colleen is a fabulous fashion and art boutique located in the heart of Lafayette. It’s an interesting mix of comfy casual sweaters, dresses and yoga wear, as well as fun consignment designer goods (including bags!). You can shop for practically everything here taking you from running the kiddos around, to the gym, to the office, a night out with the girls, a trip to the sun with your husband and a more elegant event. Also, lots of really fun and modern jewelry. Wide range of prices to fit every budget. There are even little scents to kiddo gifts in the smaller home/​gift room just off this cute little patio.
The atmosphere is simply, awesome! It’s an eclectic brilliant ambiance of fashion and art (there are gorgeous chandeliers throughout and this huge amazing mirror anchored against the far wall of one of the rooms). Her walls are adorned with local modern artists work – which make the overarching J. Colleen experience very innovative and unique. It’s a great place to schedule a shopping event with your girlfriends, attend an event hosted by varying authors and/​or artists or host something yourself.
Not too long ago I hosted an event to launch my book Trap the Elf — Anytime of Year (
). As I am first and foremost an artist – this space just spoke to me.
Julie was very attentive during all of our meetings and touch points – super flexible and buttoned up at the same time. She had lots of great ideas to help me figure out what made the most sense for my audience and needs. While my event was a tad complex in terms of set up (using a projector and displaying varying 3D characters and related merchandise) – she and her team (go Jackie!) did everything possible to help/​support my needs during my own setup. There was never a moment where I felt I was disrupting them during their own tasks related to the store itself.
There is also this great space outside that one could use for their event – and if they brought a projector could project onto the exterior wall (it’s white) atmospheric video, imagery, etc… It’s a space that could be transformed easily with imagination. But alas, with my audience (children 5 to 9) and freezing cold temps in Dec did not get to take advantage of that opportunity. But I urge you to do so!

Julie the owner has great taste and style in everything she does.
You are sure to find something hip and fun to wear at this boutique.
