Description

History

Established in 2014.

Locally owned by The McCormick family and Chef Partner, Erik Hopfinger, The Cooperage features American favorites using the freshest of local ingredients, featuring slow cooked meats on our in-house rotisserie ovens. We have reimagined casual elegance, offering a contemporary setting that is welcoming for all — an intimate dinner, a business lunch, weekend brunch, or family gathering. Parents of two school-aged children, Andrew and Merilee McCormick wanted to offer a place for parents to dine with or without their children in a comfortable sophisticated atmosphere. Our beverage menu features signature craft cocktails, diverse wine list (including 8 wines on tap), and 12 beers on tap.

Meet the Business Owner

Andrew M.

Business Owner

Andrew McCormick grew up following his father into the kitchen of Jakes Famous Crawfish. As the years went on, he continued working his way up in the restaurant business working as a prep cook, dishwasher, busser, server, and bartender. In June of 1995, he opened his own restaurant in San Francisco, City Tavern, where he managed all aspects of the restaurant business for 17 years: management, promotions, scheduling, bookkeeping, human resources, bartending customer relations, and inventory. Andrew and his family have been residents of Lafayette for 14 years, and his goal has been to open a restaurant in his neighborhood. When the opportunity came up to take over a landmark institution, he jumped at the chance to provide a new and unique dining experience to Lafayette while maintaining the historical nature of the site.
