FItMama is a fitness studio exclusively for women, offering bootcamp, pilates, yoga and Spinning®. Our mission is to empower women with the strength and knowledge to make the lifestyle changes it takes to live a healthy life. Camaraderie wins over cattiness in this down-to-earth environment where everyone encourages their fellow «FitMamas» to achieve and maintain similar goals.
History
Established in 2011.
NCSF Certified Personal Trainer Erin Schaefer started FitMama Bootcamp in May 2011 with a half dozen friends in a neighborhood park and over the summer the bootcamp grew by word of mouth to over 40 women. This prompted an expansion into a 980sf cinder block garage located in downtown LaFox, which opened its doors in January 2012. Eight months and 120 women later, Erin felt the need to expand into a bigger facility in Elburn. In August 2015, FitMama headed back to LaFox for a better and more versatile training space, both indoors and out, to serve over 280 women of all shapes, sizes, and fitness goals. FitMama has become the new revolution in women’s training.
FitMama was chosen by the Association of Fitness Studios as the December 2014 Studio of the Month.
Meet the Business Owner
Erin S.
Business Owner
Since losing nearly 100 pounds with the help of a personal trainer, Erin has competed in 14 triathlons (even one running barefoot because she forgot her shoes!) and 3 half marathons.
Erin is unlike any other trainer because of her ability to relate to clients who aren’t as fitness-focused as others by bringing about a fun, light-hearted approach to fitness. Her passion for training shows through in her vast knowledge of function and movement of the musculoskeletal system, how these are affected by past lifestyle habits and other factors, and the best methods for changing these for the greatest outcome in performance.
A mother of two young children, she always emphasizes the importance of setting time aside for yourself to stay healthy and fit. «I make my children the reason I workout, not the excuse not to.»
