Atomic Tattoo

This is a two part review!
If I could give this place 10 stars I would! I came in last October with the intention of getting a tattoo — incorporating a number of elements on my left shoulder/​clavicle area. We were welcomed with smiles and a laid back, helpful attitude from the tattoo artists that were there. In many other instances, I’ve walked into tattoo shops and the people just stare up at me and then continue doing whatever they were doing. Smashly was the artist I spoke with specifically and she was more than accommodating! She helped to draw up what I was looking for even though I was probably confusing her with how many things I liked and wanted (sorry Smashly!). I loved the drawing and scheduled an appointment along with a deposit. The tattoo took approximately 4.5−5 hours and Smashly put on a smile and had a great attitude throughout the entire time she was working on me. She was and is easy to talk to, has a great sense of humor and is more than accommodating!
Fast forward to this week. I walked in with a couple friends who were interested in getting a tattoo. I said hi to Smashly and she offered to touch up my tattoo for free before we took off. Of course I took her up on this! The touch up appointment was a little under an hour and it was awesome to catch up with her during this time. She did a fantastic job at touching up my tattoo.
I will hopefully be back next year to add onto this piece!

Yvette was able to take my jumbled thoughts and through her amazing artistey, was able to do the tattoo better than I imagined. She is very friendly, professional and runs a super clean shop. Everyone in the shop was very friendly and nice. We met one Monday and by Wednesday evening I received an email of the drawing to look at and even my last minute small change didn’t seem to matter to her at all. I will be back for more, don’t hesitate to use this great shop. Thanks again Yvette

Awesome experience with tattoos! My wife and I both got our first tattoo today… Lhena was our artist and I cannot tell you how pleased we are with her work…“bedside manner” had us both at ease… great conversation as she worked and music helped set the mood for me… some great Doors music for me and soft music for my wife. Whole experience from finding them on Unilocal and calling before we arrived and then having preliminary chat with Ashley was great as they ecplained ups and downs of what we wanted as well as answering any questions. Met Robbie Big Balls as I was getting my tattoo and really enjoyed the conversation. If you are someone who is considering a tattoo while in Maui, this is a great place and Lhena is your artist extraordinaire!

Went here with my daughters, to get family themed tattoos. Celebrating the end of a prolonged illness in the family so the experience was very personal. The shop was AMAZING. Clean, comfortable and all three of our artists were excellent. Each truly captured our individual requests and did a great job. They also really understood the import of the event. Recommend them to everyone.

We came to Maui on our honeymoon and wanted to gift each other some tattoos while we were here. We walked in and got an appointment scheduled and brought a rough idea of what we wanted. We left REALLY happy with what we got! Lhena was great, really nice and used her creativity to take our ideas and make them into something we both love.

Very professional and laid back. Ashley did a great piece on my inner leg. Great vibe, easy to talk to, very accommodating, great listener and informative. Clean studio with lots of albums to select from. Also luv how they match artist to client for specific tats.

This was my first tattoo and Max was great, very reassuring and professional. Love my tattoo, exactly what I wanted!

I can’t even begin to tell you how great this place is, Lhena in particular. I stopped by a few days before we left the island, and managed to make an appointment for Monday, the day we left. Lena was very excited about my mermaid, and asked me to email her some of my ideas. Monday morning I got there a little early and filled out my paperwork. She came in and showed me her sketch, which was exactly what I wanted.
The whole thing took 5 hours, with one break. Lhena was so patient with me, even toward the end when I was complaining about how much it hurt! I mean, it’s a very large tattoo… what did I expect? But she was so sweet, and didn’t let me complaining stop her from doing such a wonderful job. Now if only she would come to the east coast! I would go back to Maui in a heartbeat… just to get Lhena to tattoo me.
I did glance at the other artists’ work while I was there, and was seriously impressed with everyone. Really, if you want a tattoo in Maui, this is the place to go. Prices are great, artists are great, and they take credit cards, which my local shop does not. What more could you ask for?

My husband and I were in Lahaina for a week in April. I decided to get a tattoo before we left. A friend from home in So California referred us to Atomic Tattoo. We stopped by and spoke with Lhena and told her what I wanted. We made an appointment for the next morning. We met with Lhena the next morning and she had drawn up exactly what I wanted. I had colored plumeria tattooed on my side and she did a great job. I love colors. Thank you Lhena.

On my husband and my anniversary trip we stopped here to get a commemorative tattoo. We both wanted a Polynesian design. They were able to draw both of us something very unique. Due to a scheduling conflict the owner Robbie big balls came in to do my husband’s piece and I had Ashley. Its a very laid back studio and rob is hilarious. We are both very pleased.

Dude really!!! Ps the first pic the ring is literal sunk into my nose!!! I was recommended to this place and all I can say is F NOOO (but I shall say more!!!) I WANTED to have a fun experience to remember my vacation in Hawaii and thought it would also be awesome to get my nose pierced (another thing I have always wanted but chickened out cause it’s on my face and if someone f’s up… Well it’s my FACE!)…
My first choice to get my piercing done was unavailable but the owner of that shop had referred me to atomic tattoo, they also had 5 stars. I called and made sure someone was available. When we got there it was very unprofessional but I figured it’s a fricking tattoo parlor so I hadn’t given it to much thought… the piercer Lena wasn’t wearing shoes which really didn’t bother me til after we realized she seemed high (hind sight is always ²⁰⁄₂₀ right…) along w alllll the other things Lena did such as and MOST importantly
1-​she pierced my nose with an INCORRECT size nose stud!!! And I had to go back the next day to than be told multiple times I needed to pay an additional $ 20 by another woman who worked there, and than later told by the owner «to cover[his]cost I needed to pay $ 10» and YES by this time I was crying because this was crazy to me and it sucked asssss! My memories of this «fun life experience» are now way tainted and let’s just add in the fact that I Entrusted she knew what she was doing…
2-​she didn’t give me any paper work/​care info I mean other than the pay pal receipt
3– she touched and tossed the nose ring around on a table With out gloves prior to putting it in my nose… My suggestion is DO NOT GO THERE!!!

Ronnie at Atomic Tattoo was awesome! He worked with me on the thought and concept. We scheduled an appointment. He even called me to advise he would be there early if I wanted to drop by.

There are times in life when you think «I really want a tattoo.» This was one of those times for my husband and I. We researched a lot before we landed on Maui Atomic Tattoo in Lahaina. (we were on our «weddingmoon» trip, and decided tattoos would be the ultimate wedding gift. Lhena did mine, and Mad Max did my husbands. We could not have been happier with the cleanliness, quality of tattoos, and straight up badassery of this place. Now we will have to make up excuses to come back to Maui for more ink!

While on vacation with my boyfriend, I felt it would be appropriate to get my favorite Disney character (also a Hawaiian character) Stitch with a couple of plumeria flowers (the Hawaiian flower). Zach did a beautiful, detailed job and I LOVE it! It took a bit longer than expected and near the end the artist was a little pre-​occupied but all and all a pretty good experience. Would recommend.

Amazing tattoos and amazing artists! Got my first tattoo here, and zack my tattoo artist was the sweetest and most professional artist. He made the whole experience comfortable for me. I would go back anytime! I’ve also gotten my nose pierced here too and it was very clean and neatly done. All in all I would highly reccomend this place to anyone looking for a piercing or tattoo.

Went in on my last day in Maui & met Zach. He’s professional, funny, and tattooed my ankle exactly how I wanted it. Zach was awesome, and great, cool location, super clean/​sanitized. Great experience for this first timer!

My wife and I and our kids (18 and 20 years old) all received tattoos from this shop a couple of days ago. This was our son’s first tattoo and only our second (our first tattoos were 26 years ago). We were visiting Maui for the first time from BC, Canada. Let’s start by saying that we are working professionals (law enforcement and teaching) and are extremely particular about decisions like tattoos. We did copious amounts of research before deciding on this shop including visiting a few others and researching online. We did not know Rob, his staff or anything about this shop prior to our tattoo experience here.
Our best advice is to meet with Rob (the owner). Yes, he has colourful language and is definitely a character… his nickname is «Robbie Big Balls.» But, make no mistake, he is the ultimate professional and an extremely good artist. He possesses years of experience and will give you no BS feedback and advice. He will tell you if it is being placed properly (via the stencil image) and has a keen eye for adding dimension to your tattoo. He will commonly say «that is clever»…or not. Take his advice and advice from the other artists unless you want your tattoo to look like a dark blob in future years.
Our family was tattooed by Rob and «Teddi.» She is also a gifted, experienced artist as many reviews here have mentioned. I am attaching a photo of our son’s Octopus tattoo that she completed over a few hours. I am also attaching our daughter’s owl tattoo to show the range in Teddi’s artistry as one is coloured and one is not.
Cleanliness and dialogue are key factors in this shop. Rob conversed frequently during the tattoo to provide a distraction from the pain and to constantly check on how we were doing. New needles, new ink and sterilization of spray bottles etc. Fresh bandages, tape and again, lots of advice on caring for (and protecting) your new tattoo.
Rob’s wife Yvette is an unbelievable artist. We were not tattooed by her, but her artwork is prominently displayed throughout the shop. We have asked her to draw a future tattoo for one of us.
Overall, this was a positive, amazing experience. Everyone is the shop is friendly and helpful… one even left to buy our son an iced coffee during his 3-​hour ordeal :)
One last point, in our over 4 hours in the shop, we witnessed numerous people enter and converse with staff. Many of them wanted a discount or a deal on their tattoo. We found this amusing since tattoos are fairly permanent. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for! Do your research and then speak with Rob before trying to bargain yourself into something you may regret… after all, didn’t you pay a fair bit to visit Maui?

Woke up this morning and randomly decided I needed a new tattoo today. I’ve been going through a lot and use tattoos as an outlet. Called to asking for pricing, I didn’t have much on me, but Zack was willing to work with me. Pricing for tattoos is much more expensive here than in Oahu so I was glad that he worked with the money I had. Even though I didn’t have much he worked on my tattoo as if I were paying him thousands. Very satisfied!!!

Teddi was awesome, from the pre-​tat consultation, to her prepped artwork/​stencil when I arrived for my ink work, to her skill and attention to detail during the inking, to her anticipatory guidance and transparency in describing her thoughts/​feelings about what might work best for my initial design as it applied to my actual body shape/​skin type. Plus, she kindly charged less than I expected (hourly rate) after a long inking session.
Bottom line: a really great experience with Teddi and, despite my wife’s protests, I look forward to Teddi adding more ink whenever I’m lucky enough to return to Maui.

My husband and I were in Maui on our honeymoon and on the last day decided we wanted to get forever souvenirs before we left paradise! We looked on Unilocal called around a couple of places and decided Atomic Tattoo was the place to go!
So happy we chose it too! The vibe instantly was better than any experience I’ve ever had. My husband and I both got tattooed at the same time which was very convenient! He got a throwup graffiti hollow for a friend that passed away by Ashley and I got a island with a palm tree the ocean and sun setting with my new last name in the island by Rob. My husband drew both of them and they both turned out awesome!
Both Rob and Ashley were extremely nice humble personable people which is hard to find anywhere let alone in a tattoo shop! It was an experience we will never forget! We will be back! Thank you for the amazing work you do a perfect shop and people working there!
