Spike’s Westside Ink

This place is rad. I had a horrible tattoo done a few months back at a little place in Honokawai (I shall leave it unnamed) on my wrist and arm. Looked NOTHING like how I had imagined and showed the «artist» what I waned done. After going back and forth with this place about three times and blowing more and more money for shit work I finally went off friends recommendations and stopped by spikes. I made an appointment with Illya and he seriously worked magic. My tattoo is amazing and exactly what k wanted. He freestyle drew a beautiful tattoo over my bad tattoo and you can’t even see the old one under there. I get so many compliments. I can’t wait to go back and see him again. He really is a true artist. Thanks guys

Spike is a master at his craft. Great custom design and detail work! Very easy to work with and laid back people. I would not go any other place when in Lahaina for a Tattoo.

I was here 4 yrs ago and have been dying to come back to get more ink. Can’t find anyone as good as these guys back in Cali. Love Jax he does awesome work especially to the add on to my last tat can’t wait to come back to get more. One thing I kick my self in the ass for us not leaving a tip :(

My mom and I went and got inked at spikes! The vibes where awesome! Super clean shop with beautiful art work! We had a kick ass time getting tattooed by the guys! We will most definitely be coming back to spikes next time we are on Maui! A Hui Hou!!!

I took an 8 day trip to Maui recently and Spike’s was my last stop on my way home. Jaxson did a great job on my sea turtles and the whole appointment was 90 minutes. The tat is all healed up now and the colors are amazing. I am very happy! Hope I can come back one day soon and visit again!

I couldn’t ask for a more fun, super clean and a professional place than this. Spike has done 3 of my tattoos and my last was with my 22yr daughter. I promised her to get the mother and daughter matching tattoo and Spike and his brother Jaxon are the best!!! I hate needles and I’m scared to death each time but Spike always makes you feel comfortable & takes your mind off of the pain. Don’t waste your time anywhere else! Get it done right the first time! These guys are the sh*#t! I’ve gotten most of my work done here and will continue to until the day i die. Clean work, light hands and kickass artists. Definitely the place to go on Maui for awesome local work. Family owned and ran too these fakas!

My mother and I went to spikes to get our tattoos done on June 8^th. The customer service we received here was great! When talking with Jay about the ideas we had in mind, he was extremely helpful. He was very informative on the pros and cons of all of our ideas. That of course made us feel much more comfortable with him. Originally it was just me who was getting tattooed, however my mom got persuaded to as well. Jay really did a great job on me which is why my mother decided to let him do a coverup on her. You can’t even see her previous tattoo. I would recommend coming here other than anywhere else on the island for a tattoo! The work is great.

Jay created a mermaid tattoo for me which came out exceptional and lovely just the other day, on March 29^th 2014. I asked him to use his create license and he knew exactly what to do. Just as important to me is Jay’s demeanor and manner. He is gentle, kind, straight forward, calm and low key and was candid about what my experience would be. I love him for that and felt completely confident that I was left in good hands. I love what Jay did and highly recommend seeing Jay for your tattoo. The shop is also really cool and has a lot of character and they play excellent music for my liking.

Jaxon took care of me (and my boyfriend) while we were on vacation May 2013.
Absolutely amazing work. When we showed up for our time slot Jaxon was all set up and ready to go!!! The shop is a very comfortable environment to be in, very clean, professional, and everyone was extremely awesome!!! OH, and I can’t forget to mention talented!
I *will* be returning to see Jaxon when I go back to Maui in 2015. =)

My husband and I came here on a recommendation from his Uncle… And they did not disappoint. We both have a couple tattoos, but I was nervous since I picked my rib cage which I hear is painful. Jay was awesome the entire time. And kept telling me I am doing great and my tattoo turned out exactly the way I wanted.
My husband got an amazing Polynesian storm trooper by Jay and I have never seen him so excited. He was super detailed and a perfectionist, yet also very quick.
Both of us couldn’t be happier and would recommend any of the artists there, but Jay was awesome!

Great experience for my first time getting a tattoo. Jay was a very professional artist, with a light hand. He designed custom tattoos that were specific to our ideas showcasing intricate, detailed design. He is a true artist. Cannot wait to go back. Definitely the première location if you are wanting a professional, clean, comfortable experience with a beautiful tattoo in the end.

I walked in with my friend on a lazy Saturday in the hopes of getting a simple wave tattoo on my foot. Right away I felt really comfortable with Jay. He spent a good amount of time talking me through several options. I was between two different designs and he said «Hey, take some time to think about it and just come back to see me when you’re sure!» When he said that I knew that he did not take his job lightly, as some artists do. I left that day with a double wave tattoo on my foot and a smile on my face. He was quick, efficient, and my tattoo is awesome. Mahalo!

I got a Polynesian shark tattoo from Jay it was my first tattoo and Jay was really thorough and patient with me. He explained what to expect and really made me feel comfortable. If you are on Maui and thinking of getting some ink stop by Spikes I would feel comfortable with any of the Artists at this shop. Spike is all about the experience and quality and really reasonable on the pocket book. Thanks Jay, Spike and everyone else at the shop great experience.

My wife and I came to Maui at the beginning of May 2013 to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We made our appointments for the day before we were to return to the Mainland. I spoke with Jaxon about what I’d wanted which was based on a similar style I’d seen on his portfolio on the shop’s website. Right away, I was at ease with Jaxon and I knew right away he was the right artist to do my tattoo.
After we returned to our condo in Kihei, my wife decided to get a tattoo at the same time at Spike’s. We came back the following day to make my wife’s appointment and to drop off samples of what I’d wanted. Jaxon was working on a client at the time, but he took a couple moments to help us. He made my wife’s appointment with Spike at the same time I was coming in to see Jaxon.
On the day of our tattoo appointment, we were delayed by 1.5 hours by a serious traffic accident on the highway to Lahaina. We called the shop twice and explained our predicament. Both Spike and Jaxon were very understanding and advised us to wait out the traffic and get there when we could. By the time we arrived at the shop, Jaxon was ready and waiting for me, while Spike was not able to stay. My celtic father’s knot tattoo with my son’s name took a little more than an hour to finish. I was comfortable during the whole time. Jaxon is a true pro and having the Doors and Van Halen I playing on the shop stereo put me in my happy zone. The price was very reasonable and I could not be happier with my tattoo.
Jaxon also did my wife’s tattoo. He had a client after he had finished with me, so he told us to return to the shop in a little more than an hour. When we returned, my wife explained what she wanted and Jaxon drew up the stencil in front of her. He understood exactly what my wife wanted from the start and the resulting tattoo of a nail polish bottle with plumerias shows just how talented Jaxon is as a tattoo artist. He said this was his first nail polish bottle tattoo and I think he was quite impressed with his work. The other artist in the shop (I apologize for not remembering his name) checked out my wife’s tattoo and was also impressed.
In a nutshell, I highly recommend Jaxon at Spike’s Westside Ink in Lahaina. When we return to Maui, I know we’ll return here for more ink.

Hello, me my wife and cousin were in your shop on June 5^th 2012. We were on vacation from San Diego and my cousin from Minneapolis. Me and my cousin got a tattoo from Murph a hanu turtle about the size of a 50 cent piece, me on the back of my left upper triceps, Matt my cousin on his wrist. A week later our tattoos look like a light Grey outline with no black solid color in it at all it looks ridiculous. Now we have to spend more money at our hometown tattoo shops to correct it which means spending more money to correct a tattoo from Spikes Westside ink which I thought was a professional shop. So we spent 80 each plus we tipped 25 bucks to Murph for a very light Grey outline of a turtle, horrible. I’ve attached a picture of my tattoo to an email address that’s on your website, so you could see what is going on.

Went to Hawaii for the first time and couldn’t resist leaving without getting a tattoo (and my first one at that!).
Nothing beats getting tattooed by the creator of Weenie Babies! (Plus he’s also the DJ for the local KROQ radio station)
He’s really talented – the tattoo turned out beautiful: two orange/​magenta hibiscuses (HI state flower) on the right side torso. It hurt like hell but so worth it. When he said that the flowers would look so real, hummingbirds would fly to it, he wasn’t kidding. Ok, I’ve yet to experience that, but the colors are bright and the shadowing/​detail in the artwork is nearly life-​like. This is THE place to get inked in Maui.

Best place to get inked on Maui. I got my tattoo covered up by Jaxon. He was ready for me when I got there with a sketch of a seahorse ready to go. I showed up early, but no worries, he took me in right away. A beautiful piece. He worked quickly and was totally professional. He also said he has been tattooing in HI for 15 years which makes them far more reputable than most of the fly-​by-​night shops and affordable pricing as well.
I am so happy with my new ink, it might just be my new favorite. I plan to go back and have Jaxon add to it. Wonderfully talented and creative.
