Gusto Bistro served a fabulous Valentine’s Day dinner. From the Bagna Cauda appetizer and wild mushroom soup to the flank steak, potatoes and leeks, we ate every bite! The Bittersweet Chocolate Torte was the perfect Valentine’s Day dessert. What a treat!

Lake Oswego is not where one might expect to find incredible food, but trust the reviews – you will find it here. Imaginative, incredibly tasty food with a Mediterranean bent and wonderful wines make for a great dining experience. You will not regret whatever time it takes you to travel to LO.

you’ve been saved. Now on Saturdays at Gusto Bistro & Marketplace in Lake Oswego Bill Jenson is making the magic happen all day, hey you can’t miss this. That great crust with just the right char and the freshest of fresh toppings, I’m getting hungry just writing this! Gusto Bistro also makes some really great eats, so this is win, win, win, just don’t you miss out.

IMO, Gusto serves the best food Lake Oswego. It is consistently delicious! The service is great too; this is such a friendly place. Tonight we tried two pizzas made by La Pizza Pela, whom you may know from the LO Farmer’s Market. They were outstanding. If you love quality, tasty food go to Gusto.

Say what? That is what happened the first time I tried to visit Gusto last year. I have seen small businesses close during their normal business hours for a variety of reasons, but this was a first. It is also a good example of what happens when you try to patronize a small business, be it a food cart or restaurant. When life happens, they shut down. Customers just have to adjust.
Since that initial wackiness, I’ve been back a couple times for lunch. For all the negative things people love to say about Lake Oswego, I will tell you that outside of Portland, they have some of the best food in our area. Usually pricey food, but very inventive and there are many small restaurants to choose from. Lake O has a pretty small percentage of chain restaurants compared to the rest of the suburbs.
Gusto would probably be five stars in any other location in the greater metro area. In Lake Oswego, they rank third in my heart behind Scratch and Gourmet Productions for this type of cuisine.
What I like about Gusto is that you can have a nice lunch (half sandwich and mixed greens) for $ 5. A whole sandwich is $ 8 and dinner entrees run around $ 12. Then finish your meal with dessert (Staccato Gelato) and illy coffee. Really affordable for this area.
The location is off the main street and is a combination bistro and marketplace, so you do feel a bit like you are eating in a grocery store. I like the casual European menu and style, but they don’t have very comfortable seating and many tables are tippy.
A very nice place to try for a casual meal. For a special occasion, you have to try Scratch.
[1] Frisbee is my recollection anyway. Perhaps it was something similarly unexpected.

We had a catered meeting lunch from here yesterday, and I was so impressed with the food.
The sandwiches were amazing… so incredibly delicious that a few of us lucky ones were thrilled to be the last ones leaving the meeting, at which time, the host encouraged us to take the few remaining sandwiches home.
Being prego (not supposed to eat cold cuts), I was limited to the tuna sandwich (Pan Bagnat), which consisted of tuna, capers, olives and sundried tomatoes on a ciabatta roll. I’m pretty sure the tuna was Italian, olive oil-​packed tuna. No mayo was necessary… just delicious natural tuna and its accompanying fixins, which made for a memorable sandwich. I also tried the Greek Meze, a flat pita bread sandwich with house-​made hummus, feta cheese, chopped olives and cucumbers. Again… delicious, not to mention creative.
Others at the meeting were able to partake of the Italian and Spicy Sicilian, and another type of sandwich with roasted turkey.
Everyone just raved about the food and had to know where it was from. It made such an impression that we were still talking about it today…

Gusto obviously puts a lot of care and creative effort into their menu selections, and all of the ingredients are top notch.
I can hardly wait to try some of their other mouth-​watering-​sounding sandwiches very soon.

Diverse menu of highend home cooking. From crepes to panini to hearty soups and gelato, it’s all to love. The fig sandwich stole my heart. Really reasonably priced wines and mediteranean products. Family friendly. Best kept secret in LO. It’s worth the 15 min drive from Portland!

We had a lunch and a dinner at Gusto. We found the food very tasty and fresh and I’m looking forward to their wine flight. Prices are good and food is authentic. Highly recommended.

Yum! Great place!

Gusto just had their open house last night… new place just open a week or so. So cool — and just what is needed in the Lake O. area! They have hot and cold deli items, made from scratch soups that are to die for! They cover the foods of the Mediterranean — and do it well! There is a grocery area of foods and wine from the various countries. If your thinking of making a dish from say, Spain — they have the ingredients! Very cool place. Cute patio seating for when the weather gets a bit warmer — you’ll really feel like your on the sunny shores of the Med!
