Children’s Trading Post

Today was my first time here !
I brought in a couple of my daughters clothing. They only take trades from 11am-​1pm & 2pm-​4pm.
I arrived an hour early so my daughter and I looked around. I wasn’t really impressed with the clothing they had. Some of it had pet hair, faded, and kind of seemed expensive.
I took in brand new… and I mean BRAND NEW Dora light up shoes. because my daughter didn’t like them… a Carters bag, about 10 socks, 3 or 4 shirts, perhaps 2 pants, nursing pads (i only used about 5 out of 35)…and perhaps a little more stuff, all just for $ 20 for clothing or $ 10 for any item in the store INCLUDING brand new Dora light up shoes ! I mean, i wasn’t expecting $ 100 but I mean it kinda didn’t seem fair !
On the bright side i bought my daughter an electric car with my $ 10.which she loves…
Also the lady the helped me out was very friendly and also clarified a couple things I was confused about! I really appreciated that!!!

I love this place. I shop here at least once or twice a month. I recently purchased a double britax stroller in excellent condition. I’m totally in love with it. It was much needed since we have twins and a two year old. This is the only consignment shop I trust. They give good money for your things. The employees have always been friendly and make you feel helped. The owner is also a military wife like me and I like they give a discount for that. Also, the quarters sales are not overcrowded. Limiting the large equipment helps keep it from turning into a crazy free for all like competitors kidz kaboodle, which I dislike very much. Quality items and quality people! They even have a playroom for your kids while you shop and carts too!

Very hit and miss– I still occasionally shop here If I’m in the area– i feel they never have the size I’m looking for and very poor quality items is usually what is left (boys 12 – 18 months in particular is what I was looking for) many items looked very worn :(good selection on girls– my friend found a lot of good quality ones on that side (still some Fairly worn items on the rack though) items can be expensive for used — example– I saw a cute track outfit for baby boys used for $ 15 there — - you can get a new one at Burlington for $ 18— just pay $ 3 more for new in that case is the way I would go– so they go off retail and never sale prices do some items can be very spendy –also– I agree with other posts I have seen and the ladies can sometimes seem to be in a bad mood

I really enjoy the friendly environment the smiles and the prices. This place is also the most clean and organized consignment store I’ve ever been in. And the rewards are amazing. I wont be going anywhere else from now on.

I enjoy the friendly informed staff when I visit for anything I need. Never had anyone GRUNT to me.
Reading some of these reviews is amazing. Where do people have the time to come up with such lies.

Whenever my wife can’t find what she is looking for she stops by Childrens Tradingpost and they have what she is looking for at a good price.

Excellent staff, very organized and clean store, and I can usually find what I need. I’m always in here before I go buy new in case they have whatever child item I’m in search of and they usually do. They have a Facebook page and regularly post pictures of what they have in stock and if it’s something you want, they will hold it for you. I love love love this store!

I find the store to be to cluttered and the workers are not friendly or let’s just say they pick and choose who they want to be friendly with. The items are over priced and some are even stained or dirty. So in order to post it is making me star rate, so since zero isn’t an opinion my choice is one minus one, you do the math.

Love love love this place! Great for purchasing equipment. I love Kathy! She really takes the time to help you and always tries to remember your name, but everyone that works here is very nice. Their sales are great and they give military discounts everyday not just on certain days like other places around here and if you want something you better buy it on the spot because they constantly are rotating stock. I’ve been coming here constantly for almost a year and have never had a bad experience. I do consign on occasion I definitely dont get as much if I sold it on my own but ive checked around and its all about the same as the other consignment shops.

It pains me to write this. If I could give zero stars, I would.
This place has gone down hill in a big way. I have been a loyal customer for four years now, way back to when it was located right next to the Lakewood Towne Center. I stopped going in as much after she fired Catherine and hired the two creepy/​unfriendly women that work there. She actually may have just hired one, and the other one may just hang out there. I don’t know for sure.
This is based on today’s experience.
I posted on their Facebook page asking when they take items, which was responded to promptly with the times and a request to call in with the items I had to bring in. I called and was told that they’d take them. So I come in and as I’m walking in the door carrying my bouncer, the woman behind the counter tells me, «we’re not taking those.» No, «hello!» Just a, «we’re not taking those.» Which is weird, because over the phone she said they were. Okay. Whatever.
I traded in a bassinet, extra mattress, and bumbo and received $ 27. Not a lot by any means but they were just taking up space, no big deal. The woman at first forgot to include the extra mattress in the price. When I reminded here she added $ 2 to her offer. $ 2 for a $ 20 bassinet mattress? Really, lady?
She (the unfriendly one) then started talking to creepy one. The creepy one started talking about how she was in her last semester to become a nurse midwife, and asked if the owner had an «irritable fetus». Lady, there is no such thing as an irritable fetus. The term you were grasping at is «irritable uterus». You are no nurse midwife. I strongly dislike liars.
THEN the unfriendly one started talking about Coach diaper bags and how valuable they are, how someone claimed you can get them cheap up here (you can, btw, the Coach outlet is an hour away) and claimed it was «bullshit» that you could get them cheap. You know, SWEARING in a children’s store. Totally kosher. What did she do then? Certainly not apologize.
I perused a bit, and as I was looking at the shoes, the creepy one commented that she hated her purse and that the unfriendly one would really hate where she got it… from the former employee, Catherine. They both made a «ugh» noise. Awesome and professional, yeah? Bashing former employees around customers.
At this point I had no desire to shop and wanted to leave. The very large creepy one was blocking my way out. I said, «excuse me.» To this she grunted, glared, and moved. No «pardon me» or, «no, excuse me!» She literally grunted. Not figuratively. Literally. She let out an honest to God grunt, like how dare I inconvenience her by expecting her to not block and entire aisle with her massive girth. Seriously, lady. I just wanted you to move eight inches to the side so I could sidle past you.
I will not be back. It’s a bummer, because this place used to be great. The selection is really bad now– I think they just bought whatever crap they could because they needed to fill up the bigger store. The clothes are faded, the gear is very old, a lot of the items were dirty. I don’t know if this is the owner’s doing or because she’s trusted the two weirdos to handle things.
I’m sorry, Shyanne. I can’t come back. The women you hired are just awful.
*disclaimer* the creepy woman gave me the vibe that she wasn’t all there mentally. Perhaps an adult with high functioning autism? In that case, I’m sorry for judging her so harshly.

The shop keeper has always been nice and helpful with all my first time mommy questions, she offers a fair and consistent trade-​in policy, and I’ve found some great gems in the store:-)

As my wife and I walked in to look around for our soon to be daughter we where greeted with cold stares. At the moment I wanted to walk out but my wife convinced me to give them a second chance so I did and as we walked around we where never greeted with a «can I help you». So as we walked out they just stared at us and once again they said nothing. With all of this said I will never return and I will pass this message on to anyone and everyone I know!

Color me unimpressed.
Going in, I had high hopes. It’s a cute shop from the outside and I know they recently moved into a larger store front in the same plaza. But maybe they were trying a little too hard to fill up the bigger space. There were a few items that were new, with tags, but it seemed like a large proportion of the items I saw in my daughter’s size were quite faded. One t-​shirt even had a bleach stain on the collar. Many of the tags also identified them as being Target brands (Carter’s Just One You, Osh K’osh Genuine Kids, Cherokee, Circo), which made the prices seem a bit much considering their condition.
I realize that toddlers can be hard on their clothes, but if I were going to consign my daughter’s old clothes, I certainly wouldn’t bring in the harder worn items and I wouldn’t expect to find them on the racks. I saw significantly better condition at the Goodwill we went to immediately after.
The «gear» area was even less appealing. I saw a stroller I would have liked, but it clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Looking at some of the others, it didn’t seem like any of them got as much as a quick wipe down before they were put out for sale.

Owner is rude & full of it! No customer service from her! The other 2 lady’s are super nice so I stayed and shop but will never go back here again!

I was browsing through children’s consignment stores in the Tacoma area when I stumbled upon the website for this business. I decided to visit the store that day, and when I arrived, I discovered they were having a Buy One Get One 50% Off sale. This even applied to their «dollar bins» — where they had items for $ 1.00 or less. I ended up buying 5 pairs of pants, 6 long-​sleeve onesies, 4 sleepers, 2 hats, and a fuzzy sweatsuit (all newborn size) for under $ 30, including tax. Everything was in excellent condition — no rips, stains, or fading, and the brands were great. All of the items I got were Carter’s, The Children’s Place, and other high-​quality brands. The woman working the register was incredibly kind, and they even give a 10% military discount, which I love! It’s a little bit of a drive for me, but definitely worth it, I’m sure I’ll be visiting them again many more times when my little one finally arrives :)

This is the only place I am willing to go in Lakewood. The owner is a smart business woman that understands the importance of customer service. She’s got a great system for keeping track of your store credit on her computer (not on index cards like another store in Lakewood.) AND she goes through your clothes IN FRONT OF YOU to see what she wants to buy. There are sales often and she always makes sure the equipment is not expired. The prices here are MORE than fair and everything is clean and in good condition. They restock daily so the racks are always full of new stuff, I’ve never left empty handed.
