Comfy Cave Heating & Air

I have found my new heating and air company! Our air conditioner was performing poorly at the end of last summer. We had a big company come to assess and they just looked at it, said it was old and needed to be replaced. Nothing else could be done. They quoted $ 12k. We put off any decision making until this spring and we were looking at just getting a swamp cooler. We decided to get a second opinion on the AC, just for good measure. Comfy Cave had great reviews so I booked with them.
James came out, stood next to the unit and knew exactly what was wrong. After he added (quite a bit) of refrigerant, cleaned out leaves and debris, and changed the air filter to one he prefers (and is less expensive than the one I was buying), we had a perfectly working AC unit. Tons of cold air pumping into the house. For a few hundred bucks we got what the other company wanted to charge us $ 12k for. I’ll never use them again. I’ll always call Comfy Cave and highly recommend them to anyone. James was very personable and honest. It was great to work with him!

While they may be honest, they fail in many other ways. The gentleman who came to do my estimate came late and reeked of cigarettes. Both of these could be overlooked if he knew what needed to be done.
However, he completely failed to actually measure the house, something I expect of a proper HVAC installer. He then determined that the airflow was the main problem but completely missed the fact that the drop was too small and that the ductwork itself was inefficient. His assessment that the lack of airflow in the house was due to a potentially dirty coil was laughable. Dirty coils can lead to problems of poor cooling but perhaps he should have looked at the undersized blower, or the many right angles in the duct work. As for the cooling itself, he completely ignored the freezestat.

Von is unbelievable! He came and was incredibly honest with our heating system after a couple larger companies said we needed a new boiler. He fixed a part that is pennies compared to a new system and saved us a ton of money. He is so responsible and can get you on his schedule in a very quick turnaround!

Silly name but legit business! They solved an issue we had with an obscure boiler in a less expensive way than a competitor. They were friendly, reliable, and even suggested us purchasing a part for another problem and having them install for half the price. Love the insider tips and honest service. Thanks guys!

Von and his crew including the amazing Hilary are the best. I wouldn’t have anyone else service my HVAC. Comfy cave has always been able to solve the problem on my home and my rentals. Furnace and possible carbon monoxide issues are not something you want to mess around with and finding a HONEST technician is very difficult. I have had my furnace serviced yearly and appreciate their amazing customer service but the real testament is when my furnace would not work during a horrible snow storm and Comfy Cave braved the weather to come out and repair a blower motor. I have never been more grateful for anything in my home before.
I highly recommend Comfy Cave and have referred them many times.

My boiler had been making noises like the Transformers were battling it out in my basement. The banging noise was awful. This had been going on for 3 years. Comfy Cave was the 4^th company to come out to diagnosis the problem.
James came out took one look and told me what he thought the problem was. Changed out the pump, and I have had peace and quiet for the past week. Kinda eerie, but great!
Don’t even think of calling another company if you have a boiler! Wish I could give them 6 stars!

Von Etzwiler (Comfy Cave Heating & Air) should be wearing a cape, because he definitely is my super hero. On a bitter cold Sunday our furnace stopped working (of course). Von was out of town, but as soon as he got back that evening, he called to say he was on his way. He quickly diagnosed the problem and, lucky for us, he had the part in his van. Soon he had our furnace back, up and running, and for an amazingly reasonable price, especially considering it was a Sunday evening service call! And we’ve been toasty warm ever since. I would definitely hire Comfy Cave again, should the need arrive, and I recommend their services with enthusiasm.

Comfy Cave has been to my house several times to repair my furnace and every time they have done a fantastic job. They charge a fair price and I have never worried they were trying to up sell me on anything. I also bought a new AC until from them and they had the best prices. Thank you Von for the wonderful work you have done for me over the years I highly recommend them for your heating and cooling needs.

Not too many boiler experts out there but Comfy Cave has a great one. He was able to diagnose the problems, recommend some solutions with an eye on saving us money. Really appreciate their expertise and honesty. Definitely will use them again.

These guys were really nice and personable. Very busy as it took a while to get anyone to come out, but that is the way it was everywhere I called. Very easy to work with. Love my new swamp cooler!

In a world where I tend to be very cynical about contractors of any type, these guys are really amazing. They show up when they say they will, fix your problem without trying to sell you things you don’t need, charge reasonable prices, and are really good people to boot. I would not have anyone but Von and his crew keeping my cave comfy.

These guys apparantly rocked it. This was my first experience in hiring an HVAC company and due to the odd situation, Comfy Cave was chosen for me. He inspected a VERY old furnace and quoted a reasonable fee to replace it with a high efficiency model, with up to code venting, of course. He was professional, timely, and according to the permit inspector, he and his team did a bang up job. He quioted me about a day and a half, finished in a day and offered to come over the next day to instal AC, which I passed on for the time being. But when we decide we need it, Von and his team are the ones we will call. They left the place clean, were respectful and for the moment I couldn’t be happier. I’ll let you know if anything changes this winter, but I have a strong suspicion we’re going to be very comfy (and safe) in our cave for years to come.
Update: furnace is working wonderfully and my boyfriend’s father actually was having trouble with his furnace so he called Von and his crew… couldn’t be happier that they don’t need a new furnace and it was able to be fixed so promptly!

We have been working with CC for about 10 years– as they were a referral from our home warranty company (Blue Ribbon Home Warranty). Over the years they’ve provided excellent and consistent service from the telephone as well as in our house. My husband and I love that this is a locally owned and operated business. All the techs have been in the business for a while as well. It just makes sense to do business with good people, and the folks at CC are top notch!

Reading the previous reviews of Comfy Cave, you might think the reviews were fake because they are ALL so positive. THIS IS NOT MADE UP. I am a real customer and the guys just left my place after fixing my furnace/​AC/​fan. They set the appointment, called when they were close, and arrived early. They fixed the problem quickly, (fuse), and checked out the other components of my system and confirmed that all was well with no additional work needed — other than some cleaning and they showed me how to do that. Nice work, nice guys, and honest. I will be a repeat customer. I’ll also be posting this same review on Facebook for my friends and family.

This isn’t a large corporate company that does pricing from a book with set fees.
Von owns the company and works along side his employees. Fair prices, nice guys and a local company. I found Comfy Cave through my real estate agent.
Having many rental properties, they keep me happy with fantastic customer service and quality work.

This is «THE» HVAC company to call. They are the most honest, trustworthy, reliable, knowledgeable, timely, considerate, kind and courteous people that you will ever meet.
You will not believe the difference in quality and service between these guys and all of the rest. Their prices are reasonable and because of their honesty, you will never pay for any «make believe» work. I would recommend them to my Mom… and that’s saying something!

I had Von and his crew at my house to install a humidifier on my furnace. The crew was very polite and officiant. They explained every thing to me that was going to happen and the price was great. There was none of the hidden cost that you find in some company’s. I recommend them to everyone now.

Hard working, competent, down to earth and reasonably priced. On time, and they stick to their estimates.
In addition to the furnace service, they had to do a special «dirty job» for me which involved getting into a tight space to fix a hole in an air duct to pass home inspection. They did it without complaints, and they did it right.

These guys are fantastic. Gave a thorough inspection/​tune-​up of my furnace and have me a good deal on a humidifier replacement. Scheduling was very easy and everyone I dealt with was very professional and courteous.
Will use them for all my HVAC stuff in the future. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

Von and his team have been working on my furnace for years. So this year when my husband and I decided to install a humidifier on the furnace we naturally called them! They got is installed and running. When we didn’t notice a change in the humidity Von came out to fix it up. While he was at out house, late in the day due to a long day, Xcel had a gas leak in front of our house and had to shut everything down. Von hung around an extra 15 minutes until they had it fixed so he could re-​light our furnace.
This company has incredible customer service and will make sure you get taken care of!

I cannot recommend this company highly enough.
Two days after being released from the hospital with my newborn, my water heater gas valve went out. I called a company who had come out before and asked them to take a look at it. They did and wanted to charge me $ 1100 for the gas valve alone.
Overwhelmed, worried, and upset, I called Comfy Cave and received a return call in a timely manner.
Hillary called me and was so kind and compassionate and assured me that someone would come to my home that day to assess the situation. Shortly thereafter, Mike came to my home and took a look at the water heater. He did quote me a new gas valve for hundreds less but also quoted me a new heater since mine was 2 years past it’s warranty anyway.
If you’ve ever had a newborn, you know that sleep deprivation is taken to a whole other level. Mike answered all of my and my mom’s questions in addition to my tears and worries. I opted to replace it and they worked to get it in that night.
They were all busy with other jobs but they pulled strings to get hot water back in my house because they are nice and kind people.
It’s easy to make good business decisions. But Hillary and Mike made the human and compassionate decisions to help me in the kindest way.
I want to thank them a million times over for stepping in and helping this overwhelmed, sleep deprived, single mother. Their human and altruistic approach made me a fan for life.
Use this company and you’ll be helping out the good guys. :)
