History

Established in 1992.

John A. McArthur (aka Johnny Mac) established the first Johnny Mac’s Sporting Goods store with wife Eleanor on historic Route 66 in 1967 to serve athletes participating in team sports. McArthur appreciated the opportunities team sports provided him as a youth and valued the life lessons he received as a result of his involvement. As a team sports official & umpire, McArthur maintained strong ties to the local community and made it his mission to assist athletes in acquiring the equipment and support services needed to succeed. The McArthur family remains at the helm of Johnny Mac’s, which has grown from a single «Mom & Pop» into one of the largest independent team dealers in the Midwest. Our Lansing, MI store/​office has proudly served the athletes of Mid-​Michigan since 1992.
