Yesterday i got my surgery (LASIK CUSTOM VIEW) and it went amazing! Literally took like 2−3minutes per eye. While im waiting in the room ana robles, make me feel comfortable coz i really feel nervous on the day of my surgery. I am now recovering and had my follow up appointment with doctor jack abrams a while ago, and it went well. My next appointment will be on monday, dr abrams is soooooooooooooooo goood! I would recommend all my family and friends here! thankyou ana robles for taking care of me too :)

This staff is the best! My daughter saw Dr. Shah today and he was amazing! As was the support nurses! Soooooo much better than Dr. Houchin at Westfield Eye. The Abram Institute environment is clean and warm, everyone’s smiling and makes you feel welcome!

Made the mistake of making an appointment with this place. If you’re at the point where you need a transplant and/​or surgery (LASIK) this may be the place for you! HOWEVER, if you need basic eye service like contact prescription this IS NOT the place for you! I repeat this is not the place for you… Having worn contacts for several years I’m semi versed on what question to ask. So when I say «I need a new DR so I can get an exam for contact lens» I expect to receive that service… When I showed up for my appt the DR stated he doesn’t do prescriptions but let me look at your eyes anyway… Hence the bill… SMH., oh, and billing gal said I’ll call you back (a year later and no response, granted its the «new» year. lol)

This was my first time here ! Such a great dr and staff! Quick and simple! Will definitely return with my family.

If there were 6 stars I would have rated Dr. Abrams higher. My usual complaint about a Doctor’s office is showing up 15 minutes early only to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time. Dr. Abrams was on time, every time. Very professional and organized office. I was interested in a procedure that would eliminate the need for reading glasses. Over three visits, Dr. Abrams presented all of the options in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner and patiently answered all of my questions. The testing was thorough and the multiple appointments assured that I made the right decision. Once I decided on Lasik (mono vision), my first thought turned to «you’re going to cut my eye?». But the procedure, was so simple, so quick, no pain, no discomfort it was so easy I wished I had another eye! I was at ease the whole time and I especially like the way he and his staff spoke to me during the procedure, keeping me aware of what was happening and how much time was left. The follow up the next day, went well and Dr. Abrams was even nice enough to take my call on a Saturday as I needed a prescription refilled. Great experience, highly recommend him.

July 2015 I had laser cataract surgery with blended vision. The results are wonderful. Dr. Abrams used laser cuts to corrected a severe astigmatism in both eyes. The cataract lens replacement gave me excellent vision. With blended vision I see well at distance and close up. I do fine needlework and was concerned about my resulting near vision. It is great. I can do needlework and read the smallest font. My distance vision is ²⁰⁄₂₅ and continues to improve from the ²⁰⁄₄₀ I had immediately after surgery. After giving it much consideration, I am so glad I selected laser blended vision cataract surgery.

Dr abrams is always in the office, nice guy nurses where friendly prices was amazing only paid 2500 for both eye balls!!! cause of an insurance discount. You can take all the time you need but I was able to get get everything done within 2 weeks. Vision was ²⁰⁄₂₀₀ in both, now ²⁰⁄₂₀ and 20/​25, 2 weeks after the procedure. Halos are at a minimum very happy with the results

I always wanted to have LASIK done and had been thinking about it for years. I was doing some research and found Abrams Eye Institute and how Dr. Abrams is double-​boarded and has been trained and actively performs corneal transplantation and LASIK. I figured if he was a master at complicated procedures like transplanting corneas, he would not have any trouble performing LASIK, so I made an appointment to get more information. My first impression of the office was that it was clean, updated and neat. I give the staff a ⁵⁄₅: for a doctors office, they were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I have had regular eye exams at other eye centers in LV and always felt uneasy because of the first impressions I got from the staff. I give Dr. Abrams a ⁵⁄₅: during the consultation, he was extremely helpful, knowledgable and was not pushy. He made me feel comfortable with my questions and his tone and attitude didn’t make the environment feel pressured or rushed. I decided to go with LASIK and scheduled the procedure. On surgery day I felt a little nervous, however during the procedure, Dr. Abrams explained everything that he was doing and how I would feel during every step, which put my mind at ease. Both eyes took no longer than 10 minutes and I was out and about before I knew it. Later that night I felt some discomfort, which felt like sand in my eyes, but after about 6 hours I felt 90% better. The most amazing thing is to crack your eyes open 6 hours out and be able to see details on objects that are yards away, truly amazing. The next couple of days I took it easy and rested my eyes for the most part. Today was my 1 month visit after surgery, and my vision was tested at ²⁰⁄₁₅ for both eyes! I can’t explain how fantastic it feels to be able to see this clearly without frames on my face or lenses in my eyes. I have gone back to Dr. Abrams 3 times for standard check ups after surgery and each and every time, Dr. Abrams and his staff have been friendly, helpful and caring.

Had my lasik done here. I’ve paid the extra money to get the custom lasik coz they say it’s the better option. Although my vision is better, my halos and starbursts when I see car lights or street lights is still pronounced. I’ve went to every follow up and complained to Dr. Abrams time after time its not getting better. He keeps giving me different drops promising that my pupils will shrink/​dilate or whatever is supposed to happen to minimize the halos. Nothing worked. I inquired about having an enhancement surgery done and he states I don’t need it, despite me being uncomfortable night driving.
If I ever do go for lasik again due to these halos, I don’t think I’ll go be back to this location. Now I have to pay for lasik all over again because it’s too late to get the free enhancement with Dr Abrams, even though I’ve complained numerous times during my follow ups

Don’t go to this office. The staff is rude and so is the supervisor, I was informed I couldn’t be seen for my appointment because I didn’t have my physical insurance card with me. When I initially called to make an appointment I told her I didn’t have the physical copy with me and they said that’s fine, I offered to email it to them and they still declined to see me. I have a picture, front and back of the insurance card while I’m waiting for it in the mail. Oh well looks like they don’t like new patients. Also when you are a new patient there they put your name on a white board that says new patients in the waiting room for everyone to see. Yeah not cool I don’t want everyone to know I’m a new patient thanks. Little bit of hippaa violation if you ask me. I’m sure the doctors are great too bad I didn’t get a chance to be seen by one. Ps. I’ve been seen at other offices without the physical card.

Hubby had LASIK here and loved Dr. Abrams and his staff and suggested I go have it also.
My prescription is not very high but I have a double astigmatism and they are different directions. I hate having to tote around glasses to be able to see to drive at night. If a don’t wear the glasses the night lights cause severe starring and distance issues.
I had a pleasant exam and consultation. The staff and the Dr. are super nice and they explained the procedures, choices and the cost very professionally. The location is new and spotless and testing tools are state of the art.
I was not eligible for LASIK because my corneas are too thin but I’m eligible for PRK. No thanks :) eye stuff freaks me out and I really didn’t want LASIK in the first place so I think I’ll pass :)
This office is very prompt and pleasant. Any time I called for us an appointment we were seen within a few days and one time she fit me in on the same day!

UPDATE ¾/​14 Well, my eyes have not been treated and, I feel they are about the same as when I walked in here upon the advice of my internal medicine doctor. I am glad that they were able to diagnose a new problem that I had not the faintest idea.
That is another pro for this place. I do wish they could do more for me, but they say it is not possible. So, for now, take my review for what its worth. If I should go to Miami and find out the diagnosis was wrong here, then I certainly will put that in here. However, for now, that has not happened and you will need to make your own judgements. I did lose $ 107.00 plus time and transportation using their prescription for new lenses and finding out the prescription was wildly off. I had to go back and put my old lenses in my glasses in order to see at all.

I’m still out on the rating of this place. I’ve had extensive testing and a referral to a specialist, but not any resolution after six months. They use an array of machines to check your eyes and guide you from station to station which is efficient. There always have been many patients there, but the exams go quickly.
All the staff are friendly and helpful. What I did not like was the short times the doctor spent looking at the test results. Maybe I’m wrong, but five minutes when sight is being lost seems a short time.
Anyway, I have another appointment coming up and will update this review.
No matter what, however, I will go to a top hospital in eye care for a second opinion before anyone in Las Vegas takes a knife to my eyes. In fact, nobody will touch them here in a city that cannot even support a decent medical school.

This year I wanted to take advantage of using the FSA my job offered. I’ve been wanting to get LASIK for many years now (I got PRK instead). I finally decided to make the leap this year. I found Dr. Abrams’ office through my insurance. My insurance does not cover this type of surgery, but through insurance, I got an additional discount to pair up with my FSA.
Now going into any surgery, you should very much so do a lot of research as to what you are getting yourself into. Which is what I did. So I went in knowing what to expect on the differences between what surgeries are offered. Go in smart and expect the car salesman pitcht too (don’t worry, not from the doctor).
This is a busy office and most patients in the office look like they are getting cataract surgery.
Let me share my experience and things that would hopefully organize this office for future patients.
I will say that the process going in was confusing for me. My hopes for this office is to set up a better way to inform/​educate your possibly new patients and make sure your office is on the same page. Sometimes they asked for money before I received services, sometimes they asked for co-​pay, I was so lost and felt like I was being taken advantage of because I had no idea what I was expecting for that visit. Patients make sure to raise questions.
SOooo. A smoother process for me, going in would have been:
Office questions /****Patient preparedness
1. If new patient, schedule to see if you are a candidate.
***It would be nice to let me know if there is a cost involved. I did 2 preliminary visits. First one was free, but this should be the time to give me pamphlets and educate me what will happen in future visits.
If you wear contact, its best to be out of your contacts for at least 2 weeks to get the best read if you are a candidate.
***Let patient know there will be a $ 150 fee for the assessment. If you are a candidate and you opt for surgery, it will go towards your total. Otherwise, its their $ 150.
2. Arrival for testing. Get tests done. Meet with the doctor so he can confirm if you are a candidate. Then the doctor should go over what surgeries he can perform, what he would recommend, what pros and cons are of each, and then at that time should also ask about daily activities/​diet/​etc so there can be a determination as to what surgery is best. This first meeting with the doctor should be the breaking ice period. Meaning as this is the doc/​patient at ease mode.
***This part got skipped on me, but was the reason why I took an extra week to research things more. I did meet with the doc, but luckily my fiancé was there to raise questions he had on his mind. Which after saying I do contact sports, that the best option for me was PRK. I knew that was the best option for me, but they were selling me on the Keratome procedure because of the faster recovery time. That procedure freaked out my finace This was also the time the doc told me about Custom PRK/​Lasik. Remember patients, use this as your Q&A time. Ask about possible complications, recover times, statistics, anything!
After speaking with the doctor was when I met with the consultant about the costs because I told the doctor I didn’t know how much this would cost me to begin with.
***This should of at least been covered in my first preliminary visit (I had 2 preliminary visits). They gave me the costs and I felt my money fall out my pockets. It is very costly. So, I had to sleep on it because it was a whole lot more than I was expecting and waiting it out as I have wouldn’t make that much of a difference for me. I was just trying to rush surgery because boxing blind or with glasses sucks & wearing contacts/​glasses gets really inconvenient! But really, I’ve been wanting this for the past 7 years now so I was a bit bummed. I’m trying to prep for a wedding this year and every penny counts at the moment.
Anyhow, with me passing up that day to do surgery, they at least followed up with me the next week. After discussing things I then called a few days later to go ahead an schedule my procedure.
Scheduling was a bit off because again, there seemed to of been a communication breakdown between staff and the doctor, then staff and scheduler. I won’t go into details that much, but after a few visits I was sort of prepared after being confused from day one.
Surgery went well. Its been a week so far, but I can already tell the difference. Doc said it may take a few weeks for me to really see finer results with PRK. I will say that Dr. Abrams took good care of me, and still is.
Its 3 stars for the overall experience of the office, not Dr. Abrams or my surgery.

I recently went to the Abrams eye institute for a cataracts exam. The place looks very professional and the staff was very nice and helpful. Everything went well until I met with the office manager after my exam was over. I’m sorry, but I can’t remember her name, but she was terrible! She was like the worst high pressure car salesman ever. She told me many things that contradicted everything that I’d heard or read about cataracts. Everyone has told me that my cataract surgery could be put off for months with no problems other than a gradual decrease in vision. She told me that I needed to get it done asap or my cataracts would turn hard (and I quote) «like concrete» and be very difficult to remove and very traumatic to me if I waited. She insisted that time was of the essence and that I needed to get the surgery asap! She wanted me to schedule the surgery right then.
She also told me that I was «legally blind»! I told her that I could see everything just fine. I could read books, use my computer, watch movies and read road signs from far away. She insisted that if I went for a new drivers license, I wouldn’t qualify. My vision tested 20 – 25 in one eye and 20 – 30 in the other. Obviously, my vision wasn’t perfect, but I was a long way from being blind!
She also raised the price quote that Dr. Abrams himself, had just given me by $ 1,200! She said that he didn’t know the prices and shouldn’t quote them (even if he does own the place!). She also said that I’d be a fool to not get the laser surgery that they offered for a $ 5,600 out of pocket expense on top of what Medicare pays.
My daughter is a medical student and she insisted that I get another opinion. She suggested that I see Dr. Pizio at New Eyes. I later found out that laser surgery is better for SOME patients with astigmatism, but that I was not one of them. Dr. Pizio did my surgery for what Medicare pays and at NO COST TO ME without the laser. She does offer laser surgery but insisted that it was NOT needed for all patients. Everything went perfectly and my surgery and recovery was a breeze! No problems at all!
To sum up, Abrams Eye Institute may be a fine place to get your eyes fixed, but I’ll never know since I was completely turned off by the high pressure sales tactics and false information given by their office manager! I had no problem with anyone else there. Dr. Abrams seemed fine to me but he really needs to replace that office manager IMHO.

Dr. Abrams and his entire staff were amazing. I was really scared to get Lasik and they made me very comfortable. My eyes are perfect and I do not have any side effects. I could not be happier with Abrams Eye Institute.
They do Living Social deals sometimes for the Lasik. It is a great deal and I highly recommend buying it.

They are so nice. What a great doctor!

Dr. Abrams, Andrea, and the entire team were fantastic. I am more than happy with my experience in getting LASIK surgery at this office. I would not go anywhere else — Dr. Abrams makes himself available for his patients and is very thorough in his follow up. The surgery itself is not the most pleasant experience no matter where you go, I mean, you’re having eye surgery! But after speaking to two other people who had the same surgery other places within a couple days of mine, it is clear that Dr. Abrams is the best eye doctor in Las Vegas. Don’t waste your time looking anywhere else for a great doctor and staff.

Dr. Abrams has been a blessing to my daughter. Not very many children need cornea specialists and my daughter has been going to him for the past 3 years. He is amazing and an excellent doctor who truly cares about my daughter. My daughter as previously seen by a specialist at UCLA who essential told us that once the first cornea transplant rejected it was hopeless and he would not waste another corena in her. Dr. Abrams was completely opposte and would not say putting a new cornea in a 5 year old was a waste depsite the risks of rejection in children.

This is by far the best investment I’ve ever made! Dr. Abrams was awesome! He gave me all the details for the surgery and told me what to expect. The lasik procedure went really well. Dr. Abrams even saw me every 2 weeks for 6 months to make sure my eyes were ok and doing what they were suppose to. THANKS DR. ABRAMS!
