Great Bookstore for being in a small building. The owner was very nice and pleasant to talk to. I do wish they would go through and get rid of some older outdated nonfiction books. It is great to see small bookstores still hanging around

From the outside, Books or Books looks pretty small, but when you walk inside and see shelves reaching to the ceiling, you know they are probably going to have more than one book on your to-​read list.
The books are in pretty good condition and cost around $ 5-​$ 7 (at least the fiction ones I picked out did). They seemed to have a big selection of romance, sci-​fi, and YA books. They also have a Western section, local section, and true crime, which a lot of smaller bookstores lack. Fiction was disproportionately small for what I would have expected, but they had some really great titles in there.
They take cards, which is great, and the sales lady (who had an adorable PUPPY behind the counter, an extra bonus!) said they accept books for in-​store credit, which is even better. This is exactly the kind of book store I was hoping I would find in Las Vegas, and I look forward to visiting Books or Books many more times.

What a gem of a bookstore. I was grateful for the Sunday hours, and browsed through a great collection of books. Kim knows her stuff, and was super helpful navigating me through the store. They had a kids’ story telling hour, too. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

This place is adorable and so is the owner. She was very helpful and enthusiastic. Relatively small selection of classic literature which is what I was looking for but it was a solid selection and I ended up leaving with about 7 books, all priced around $ 5.

Found this little gem while eating at the nearby Mexican place. I love books, saw a bookcase outside and had to check it out. When I walked in it was really well organized, had a large selection and very reasonable prices. I was able to pick up a pretty recent Buenos aires guide for 3 bucks and Dr Seuss books from 2.50 in excellent condition. What a find!!!
Here they also carry local authors which is think is great and helps the community in so many ways. The location is not the most obvious if you don’t know that they are there. The store itself is located inside the parking lot on the corner or sunset and pecos a couple doors down from jaliscos-​some excellent Mexican food.
I also really enjoyed the staff. The two women working were super helpful and knowledgeable about their stock. Plus they gave me great recommendations. I loved my experience here and will be back!

The woman working was VERY helpful. It’s a nice little book store with better prices than Barnes and noble. Only bad thing is there’s no way to search for the books you’re looking for yet (she said they will have it soon) I’ll definitely come back

Large selection of used books! Biggest selection in the areas of young adult/​teen, mysteries, and history. Lady at front desk was super friendly, we talked about favorite authors as I checked out. They have some in-​store Meet the Author events, check posted notes by the door for upcoming events.
Sections are not always clearly labeled, most books have pricing penciled in on the first or second page but I’m unclear how they are priced– some hardbacks were $ 3.50 while others were $ 10, some paperbacks were $ 2 while others were $ 5, didn’t see a pattern.

Great selection of books, organized, & friendly staff. The owner is great & you can tell has a genuine love of reading & helping little ones develop a love of reading as well. There is also a bench out front by the door with free books for children. Definitely returning

My new favorite book shop! We recently stopped in just to look around and ended up with a few awesome books. They have both new and old books and some have dust covers. The prices are fair and there is a lot of variety. I can’t wait to go back!

I had no idea this place existed until a couple of weeks ago! It’s in the same shopping center as Hypnotic Salon.
The only thing i disliked about the store was that they had the Science Fiction mixed in with the Horror fiction, which takes longer to find titles. I have never seen a bookstore do this before. Maybe they don’t have enough space? But I did find some obscure titles I have been looking for.

Charming cute bookstore !!! Love how friendly Kim is. The piano in the children’s section adds a nice charm !!! Love the red leather chairs so relaxing to help my son pick his book for the week.

This is a very nicely organized book store, with very a helpful owner and employee. I was greatly helped there and took advantage of their book store sale they have going on some of their books. Check out their web site too for additional books for sale. Their price range is inexpensive to moderate. This is a great find for people that love books.

Fantastic store and exactly what I’ve been yearning for in my hometown of 20 years since the sad closing of the Reading Room at the Mandalay Shops. This is a classic indy bookstore (tho not quite Portlandia) with an owner and staff who know their stuff, are very nice, and very passionate about books, and promoting the fun of reading in children. There is a good selection of classic and contemporary literature as well as paperback novels and other popular fiction. They didn’t have any Wallace Stegner but the owner told me she wants to include more regional and unique authors like him in the over several months, which I thought was great. She also pointed out a small section with childrens books written by noted authors and I bought a really intriguing book called Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie. The childrens section was a real hit with my young daughters along with the piano which I was told gets used regularly by local aficionados. They also have a couple of bookcases outside the front door with childrens books that are free for the taking (4 per child).
Please visit this great local gem and support a more literate Sin City!

We stumbled across this establishment because we were interested in checking out the guitar shop in the same mall — and the restaurant previously known as SuperMex (now Jalisco Cantino).
As a burgeoning online used bookseller myself — I have to say that this is the best used bookstore in Vegas (IMHO). Love the staff, attitude and selection (my personal habit is vintage cookbooks of which they have plenty). Welcoming and friendly — it’s everything a used bookstore should aspire to be!

It’s a nice little shop that isn’t as commercialized and sanitized as, say, B&N, but neither is it such a jumble that you can’t find anything. It’s a nice blend of the two extremes. The prices on the books are pretty much right and they’ve got a good variety of them. The owner is very nice too.
They have a nice little kids’ section complete with a comfy chair to sit in while you read a book to your kid. Their selection of kids’ books is pretty impressive with everything from really old books to some of the latest.
Their vintage books selection is small, but it is a fairly new store as of this posting. I was impressed with what they had, both the quality and the vintage of them (some pretty old books). They didn’t want an arm and a leg for them either like some stores do.
They have the books organized by genre fairly well, certainly better than many small book stores do. I was impressed by the number of gardening books they have as well as historical novels. They have quite a few romance novels, but not an entire corner of the place like some places do.
Their sci fi and fantasy section is a bit small, but I aim to help them with that. I’m an incorrigible collector of sci fi and fantasy books and plan on thinning out my collection bit by bit in the near future. The owner said she’d be interested in buying a few of my books if she is lacking in their genre. She warned me that she doesn’t pay a lot for them, but that’s understandable considering how reasonable her prices on her current books are. We’re not talking Goodwill level pricing, but we are talking better quality than you you usually find there.
One of my ‘have to’ stops when I visit St. George, Utah is a little, very jumbled book store near downtown for their amazing variety of used books, especially classics. Books or Books looks like it is on it’s way to being another ‘must stop’ store, this time for when I am in South Las Vegas/​Henderson.

With the demise of Plaza Books and On The Road Books, this store is an island in the illiterate sea that is East Las Vegas. The store shows a lot of promise, having inherited Plaza’s customer base and much of its inventory, but time will tell if it has wings enough to fly. I would like to see a greater selection of poetry and classic literature, but that will hopefully come as more trading customers come in.
Speaking of which, Books or Books has a very fair trade policy. Bring them some poetry for me, will ya?

Amazing, kid friendly, great selection, great price, super comfortable chair to fall asleep in, amazing customer service… in short. I could live here.

It was so sad seeing Plaza Books close, but they were handing out hope in a little business card– a new used bookstore was opening, almost immediately adding to the shamefully small amount of book places in Vegas.
I finally made it in, and could immediately tell it was a spiritual successor to Plaza, although not a copy. They have a cute kids/​YA section, some fun sections that show the owner is a reader herself, and very clearly marked genre shelves. The general fiction section was HUGE, and if I didn’t have to head to work I could have easily spent half my day there. The sci-​fi section in the back wasn’t massive yet, but had interesting and respectable choices and you can tell it was growing at a good clip. The romance section in the back looked well-​stocked, but it didn’t take over the place like it can in a lot of bookshops.
A quick look showed that the non-​fiction section was also shaping up nicely, and they had what my favorite used bookstores always do– vintage books nestled in next to newer ones. The classic literature section reminded me of Plaza as well, I think some of the books found their new home here. :)
I made my selections and the very nice owner knew about the author and told me some interesting facts. I’ll bring in some of my nicer books to hopefully trade next time, I REALLY want this place to succeed! It’s cozy, crammed with books but well-​organized, brightly lit and fun to dig around in. It’s tucked into a strip mall next to a guitar shop, so make sure you don’t pass it up!

Great new bookstore! Friendly, cluttered in all the right ways! Found Waldo on the shelves, and a great selection of children’s and YA books. Some rare finds in the Religion section, too.
