Cirque du Soleil – Michael Jackson One

I love this show. I’m so happy going for my birthday everything Michael Jackson birthday wish came true :)

Best part of Vegas for me is the shows. This was my favorite one. It’s has been forgotten, tarnished, butchered, and almost destroyed… talking about MJs legacy. Definitely hit up the gift shop! You can have your pics taken right by the shop. They put them in a nice little album for ya.
The performance and tribute to MJ felt well deserved and even got me teary-​eyed. The music was beautiful. The choreography was fantastic. You really felt like you are apart of the show, with how the performers walk around before the show dressed as those paparazzi from his videos and during the show through the aisles etc etc. Second best part of it was you could see and feel the passion/​pride the all the preformers had for being apart of the MJ experience. If I had to be knitpicky, I would just say I would have preferred more fast songs than the slow ones. The slow songs were good but definitely got tons of people emotional lol
Best part for me was the message/​legacy being conveyed through his music about peace, love, and stop the suffering. I wish everyone could experience this show at least once in their lifetimes.
The show rocked and I’d definitely go again.

I’ve seen shows like Le Reve, Zumanity. Zarkana but this one was one of my favorites so far. We usually buy show tickets as Tix 4 Tonight but this show was not discounted so we went to the box office. It was totally worth it. I laughed, cried and was blown away by this show. BIG SHOUT OUT to Miya our seat hostess who was so amazing and went above and beyond!
The only bad part was the constant flashlight flashing in my eyes because people do not understand the concept of no recording.

We are huge michael Jackson fans so we appreciated the music and videos and had a great time. We loved the show and would recommend it. If I could change one thing In the show it would be to have someone in the main role that looks physically more like michael Jackson. The current guy that wears the glove and dances around doesn’t resemble michael at all and I think having some kind of impersonator would make it truer to the artist.
I give props to the woman in red that dances on the pole. She is amazing. The thriller segment was also pretty amazing.
If you are a michael Jackson fan this is a Must see!!!

We couldn’t get tickets to Celine so the next best thing seemed to be catching a Cirque show, especially since I’d never seen one. None of the themes of the shows had ever really grabbed me but when I saw they had a Michael Jackson theme I knew I had to see it.
Warning! Do not drink before the show! I’m sure that’s common sense for most shows but I missed a small section of the show because I had to run to the bathroom. Lame, I know.
Anyway, I loved the little details of this show and the interactive elements. Even the doors to the show are Michael Jackson themed. When you walked in there are red coated paparazzi flashing pictures of you. I thought it was fake but they actually take your picture and post it on fake tabloids that appear inside the theater before the show.
Our seats were in section 102 which were three rows from the back of the first section. I liked that you could see everything clearly but were also far back enough to take it all in. The show is high energy the whole time and all the classic songs are incorporated. I liked that it was a blend of cirque acts as well as dancing and some of the moves were very impressive.
There is a lot of crowd interaction. We had a dancer come dance in our row, people whizzing by from the ceiling, and the main characters were sitting in front of us at the beginning of the show and we didn’t even know it. I actually gave them a dirty look because they were climbing the seats but it was actually part of the show! That was cool. I wish I could see it again to be able to enjoy it more instead of regreting the two glasses of champagne I’d had before. I’d say our bartender was right though, this is one of the hottest shows in Vegas. Must see!

This was Hands down the best show I have ever seen in my life! I can not endorse something more than this. We got tickets to the 9:00 pm show at the Mandalay Bay and didn’t stop being impressed for the entire time. 3D holograms on the stage, awesome feats of strength and acrobatics, and great dancing… Not too mention all of the great music from Michael Jackson’s long career.
The show was extremely interactive especially during the Thriller act, but I will not ruin it for you here! If you get a chance to see one show while in Vegas you will not be disappointed by this one. If you are a child of the 80’s (or just a Michael Jackson fan) then this is a must on the bucket list of shows for you.

I was so excited to treat my mom to this show since we’re both huge fans of MJ. I read the reviews on Unilocal and Facebook and the consensus was it was an amazing show. I would have to honestly agree.
The place was packed when we arrived, however the crowd control was handled very professionally before and after the show. The ushers were dressed in MJ costumes and paparazzi. They gave us a little entertainment before the show started.
Thankfully the cheapo that I am splurged on some better seats closer to the stage since we were celebrating my mom’s retirement. We had a great view of the stage and the side performances done off stage.
My mom and I danced in our chairs and sung our favorite MJ songs. I’ve been to other cirque de soleil shows and this one wasn’t as acrobatic as others and focused more on the dances which were just as great. We were able to see the dancer with one leg who had moves I couldn’t do with both feet.
Another must see attraction when you’re in Vegas.

I grew up listening to MJ so I was super hyped up to see this show. This show didn’t seem to meet my expectations. At times I wish I had brought my sunglasses to the show. The lights were very bright and flashing throughout. I think there should be a warning for those who could potentially suffer from seizures due to the multitude of flashing lights. I didn’t quite get the story line and the hologram of MJ was not proportional to the size of the real performers on stage. It was a good effort but I much prefer a show like Mystere and Ka where I was immediately wowed by the artistry of the performers and the costumes designs.
Nonetheless, I shouldn’t fail to mention that the performer with one leg and in crutches blew me away with his dance moves. He gave a captivating performance that even two-​legged persons may not be able to match… phenomenal moves.

Awesome show! I love MJ and was so super excited when my bf surprised me with tickets because I’ve been wanting to go forever. We had 3^rd row seats which was awesome! This show had much more dancing than other Cirque shows I’ve seen, but still the dancers were incredible. There is even a dude with one leg who danced better than I ever could! I was really in awe watching him perform and thought it was so cool that he was able to partake in the show. He even had a solo act!
All of the costumes were on point. Besides the dancers, the ticket checkers and the ushers all were dressed like MJ which really added to the feel of the show. They played a lot of Michael’s biggest hits, and some lesser known songs as well. My favorite part was The Man In The Mirror performance; they had a hologrammed Michael on stage so it looked like he was really up there dancing with the crew. I also really liked the Thriller scene.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I didnt care for the storyline. It seemed unnecessary. I would have enjoyed the show without it, because I had a hard time following it. I’ve seen a few different Cirque shows and while this one wasn’t as Cirque-​y (is that a word?) as others, I liked this one the best.

Just go. Even if you aren’t a huge MJ fan, this high energy, fun, and entertaining show has restored my faith in Vegas shows after «disappointment» at Mat Franco, Britney, and Zarkana. (You shouldn’t start your Vegas trips with La Reve and Absinthe, or your expectations become unrealistic for everything else…)
The facts:
— Small enough theater that there’s no bad seat in the house.
— Fun acrobatic shows alternated between choreographed dance routines, all set to MJ music
— Lots of variety in acts. PLENTY of effects, holographs, video, and bigger screen coverage of acrobatic acts.
— Your senses are largely involved and overwhelmed with lots of things going on at once! Sober this is awesome. Drunk I’m sure it’s even better. For the rollers, be prepared for the best day of your life.
Tips:
— If you arrive closer to 9, chances are front valet at Mandalay will tell you they are at full occupancy. Go ahead and park at West Valet. There was almost no wait to get our vehicle after the show!
— If money is a factor, buy the $ 125 ticket over the $ 160 ticket. It’s not a terrible difference. I wouldn’t personally pay $ 160 to see this since that’s a LOT of money, and I’d rather burn the difference while trying to fabricate false hopes at the blackjack table.
— Bring a jacket! I brought a cardigan but half ended up on top of the friend next to me as I wore a knee-​length dress. (Combat survival taught me that getting naked is the best source of body heat, but that’s just not acceptable outside of Spearmint Rhino and Crazy Horse 3… yet)
I experienced no disappointment at all during this show, which literally takes… talent. This is so perfect for all age groups that I’ll be back with my mom next time!

From our vantage point third row center, we had a great view of the show and got up close & personal with some performers which was fun! Audience interaction is always appreciated and helps get the crowd excited.
Highlights–

2– Use of lights/​holograms in dance routines was so impressive
3– Talented Cirque performers showcased throughout show
There was much more dancing than acrobatics and the like. I was hoping for more technical, Cirque type performing. Without the MJ music/​theme I’d be much less impressed. I’m a big MJ/​all things 80s fan and so I did enjoy it. The relative ease of getting in & out of Mandalay helps, as leaving after a show can sometimes be challenging.

I see from the reviews that people either loved this show or did not. Many thought it to be a rip off. Many did not see a story line. I see all the points actually. I did not love this show, but I liked it. I had wanted it to blow my mind, but it did not.
Growing up in the 80’s, I remember Thriller to be a one of a kind for its generation. I would listen to it on my Sony Walkman at night, under the covers and scare the crap out of myself. THEN I saw the video. Super creepy back then. But, I loved it, and the album was one of my first ever bought with my babysitting money. I wanted to feel the love on this show night that I have always had for this artist. I think most acts were well done, especially the «dancing Michael» at the end. Best part. It was like he never left us and all the old feelings of admiration came flooding back.
The Cirque part of the title — not sure about that. Still, enjoyed the few acrobatics that were offered for show.
Guitar Girl, pole dancer — did not think either were necessary.
The seats are all good for the 7pm and 930pm shows. There are built in speakers for the seats so just when you think it was some annoying person kicking your seat, you realize it was the speakers!
I was worried too about being distracted with people being on their cell phones but — security is all over those guys with their blue pointer lights so DON“T DO IT! People were still talking loudly during the performances but not much one can do about that but try to block it out.
Lots of memorabilia to buy after the show. I thought the tickets were a high enough price that we skipped the popcorn, drinks and souvenirs.
I really hope that Michael is happy with this show honoring him, to know that he lives on through ONE with his music and dance and that he wholeheartedly approves.

All I can say is WOW! Ok I’ll say more but WOW should set the tone for this review!
My son and I love Micheal Jackson and as a surprise I got my family and I tickets to see the show! Boy were they surprised!!!
They have a cool little store that was not over priced and my son got a snazzy MJ hat and T Shirt! Staff was super nice and they have an entire wall of MJ Memorabilia like his Penny Loafers and diamond socks! A lot of pictures along the walls and columns so you could take pics to remember the awesomeness.
The show was phenomenal, it was all of it and then some and I don’t want to give it away but I will say my son has Autism so he isn’t too ‘emotional’ when it comes to certain things and he told me after the show that his eyes were crying because it was so good and he was so happy!
I can’t lie I cried too, it was so nice and brought back happy childhood memories about him and the great music he created. He was truly a genius and it was also sad to think how he died and all the music we are missing out on.
If you are a MJ lover you should Check it out and bring some tissue!

Performers were great. A lot of dancing, I loved it! Mix of acrobatics with some MJ dance moves mixed in. The special effect were cool. Ok, really cool! The story line is what confused me. LOL! I was like WHAT? Any who the music was good, I got up to shake it a little. :)

I think I had super high expectations going into the show because the last time I was in Vegas I saw the Beatles LOVE and thought it was PHENOMENAL. Tickets for MJ One were not cheap by any means, so I figured the high ticket prices reflected the quality of the show we were seeing.
To be honest, I didn’t understand the story-​line and what they were going for. There were a couple main characters including some blonde-​haired girl who would come out with a guitar at the most random times. I think there were only two sequences that really caught my attention which were Thriller and another song I can’t remember — I just remember it was pitch black inside the theater and the performers were wearing suits consisting of neon lights that faded in and out and looked really awesome.
Overall, I thought the show was pretty slow moving. I almost fell asleep several times throughout the show. I looked around me and saw multiple people who had dozed off as well. I just expected more acrobatics since it is a Cirque du Soleil show, but nothing really blew me away. There was a lot of dancing, but that seemed sloppy at times. I am sure the performers are insanely talented, but I just didn’t think it all really came together that well. Maybe they were having an off night? I’m not really sure…

Jamie W. and I had not been to Vegas in at least six years, and the last Cirque du Soleil show we caught was Beatles LOVE at the Mirage. We decided to go down on the spur of the moment last weekend and stayed at the Mandalay Bay. This hour-​and-​a-​half show is in the third year of its run, and it is quite a sonic, often visually stimulating experience. But Jamie said it best that it isn’t so much a «WOW!» as it is a «wow». Why? I think Cirque du Soleil is at its best when they stick to the eye-​popping acrobatics that continue to be the centerpiece of their longest-​running Vegas shows like O and Mystère.
Cross-​pollinating the athletic prowess of many of the performers with the hit-​laden songbook of a particular artist can get a bit trickier since I start looking for how the visuals enhance the familiar music. There is further complication in Michael Jackson’s case because his videos were as much a part of his musical identity as the songs themselves. Sometimes the video dance moves are mimicked, other times irrelevant feats of derring-​do like trapeze rotations, trampoline bouncing and unbelievably dexterous rope climbing are inserted to fill in the endless choruses.
Unlike the Beatles chronological history used in LOVE, this show actually has something of a storyline where four kids somehow find themselves in Jackson’s world (Neverland presumably) and get immersed in his music. Beyond that slim premise, it’s one Jackson song after another, mostly his familiar hits but some more obscure album tracks, at least obscure to me like «Stranger in Moscow». Some were predictably choreographed like «Beat It», which paled against the urgency of the original video, and some didn’t enhance the original like the overdone video animé on «Scream».
However, several number truly dazzled like «Billie Jean» where instead of the sidewalk blocks lighting up, the dancers were in the dark lit only in rainbow colors following their sinewy forms right up the side walls. Perhaps inevitably, holograms of the real Jackson — both grown-​up and as a Jackson 5 child — are used affectingly in «Man in the Mirror». You could hear the audible sighs when the images of Jackson dancing flickered in gold. The show is definitely worth seeing if you are a fan and don’t mind some of the drunken rowdiness of the audience as well as the unapologetic tardiness of casino gamblers.

Amazing experience! There are Michael Jackson themed cocktails in the bar to keep you amped during the show— not that you would need it though! The show itself is spectacular! Before the show even begins, there are «paparazzi» walking around to get you hyped up for what’s to come. They are very convincing!
The show follows an interesting story… definitely not what I was expecting. The dancing is on point! The music is phenomenal! «Stranger in Moscow» was breathtaking! Overall, I prefer «Beatles Love» just a little bit more, but «One» is worth seeing!
Note: Save yourself the embarrassment and DO NOT attempt to take pictures during the show. I saw several people get reprimanded for trying to sneak pictures.

Love Michael Jackson’s music? Love Cirque du Soleil? The Michael Jackson One show is for you!
Pros: A long, exuberant, active show, featuring lots of talented dancers and aerialists, with kick-​ass choreography and some truly spectacular execution (like the shadow dancing) kept us on the edge of our seats the entire time. There are bits with four-​story trampoline bounces that are just riveting, and lots of outstanding performances by individual cast members, including a one-​legged Asian kid that ranks among the best of the bunch.
Cons: Loud and bright, if you’re averse to that sort of thing. Kind of a hokey plot, but who really cares?
Worth doing again, on the next visit to Las Vegas. Thank you, honeybunny, for getting us to this show.

This show was honestly and disappointingly JUST OK.
I love Michael Jackson and his music and I was expecting to be blown away by absolutely every aspect of his show. Honestly anything less is not really worthy of Michael Jackson and this show tried, but it missed the mark.
We had great seats in the center of the third row from the stage so we were able to see absolutely everything. If you don’t get seats right up front you’ll be fine, but sitting in the back will leave you squinting because there’s a lot going on and it’s not your typical Cirque show where it involves the whole audience, or everything is happening around you; everything happens in the front.
The show started out great with the guitarist and the lights and the dancers and it got me really excited for the rest of the show, but honestly after that initial performance the good songs and performances were few and far between.
It became quickly apparent that the guitarist was out of place aside from the first song and MAYBE one other and they were kind of just throwing her in there every once in a while to justify paying her.
The female dancers out shined the male dancers by far and were the best part of the show. They seemed to actually want to be there whereas the male dancers just phoned it in. A lot of the dancing was repetitive and wasn’t as on point as you would expect from a dancer at an actual Michael Jackson show. There was also a pole dancer in there who was awesome and is definitely not being paid enough.
The theme of the show had a MAJOR disconnect from the storyline that was going on with the kids that ran around throughout the show. They were really grasping at straws on this one. Also it was a major let down because each one of them gets an MJ item and is able to dance like him more or less after they acquire it and as an audience member you’re expecting the last guy to do the best MJ impression because he’s been trying the longest to get the glove and he gets it and does nothing. Seriously??? Also, is it just me or is it super stereotypical that the Asian girl doesn’t really do any MJ moves but does some half ass karate to «Jam»?
All of the slow songs honestly could have been skipped except for the last one. They were unrecognizable to people who aren’t true MJ fans (I went with my bf and he had no idea they existed before the show) and they either had only one person dancing (2 of them) in an OK fashion, doing the whole performance on a rope because they have to throw something in to justify the «Cirque» label, or there’s really nothing much going on. Literally two performers just sat on the stage while one person danced through one of the songs (kinda really boring). The only reason I said they could leave in the last song was because they had a hologram of Michael dancing which was honestly the best performance of the whole show and they could’ve have made the whole thing that way and I would have been more entertained.

Don’t miss this show!
Not a bad seat in the house! The cast is amazingly talented and you will be entertained for the full 90 minutes.
It’s loud! I do not recommend this show for young children. Lots going on and it’s pretty intense. 12 and up seems like an appropriate recommendation.
The seats were comfortable and clean. The show was awesome. MJs classic hits! Worth the money. I’d like to see it again!
