Desert Memorial Cremation & Burial

This place is horrible! I was told they were called to pick my husband up from the Coroner, and was told they had no idea if they had him because it was a holiday and they weren’t open. How reassuring! I set an appointment with them, showed for my appt and it hadn’t been written down, so I had to wait for availability. Sat about 20 min before being placed in a room full of urns and left in there alone. A lady came in about 10 min later and gave me some papers and said she would be right back. After about another 10 min I just got up and walked out telling them I would find somewhere better. They were RUDE, CARELESS, and treat this as nothing more than a business. It may be money for them, but it’s still our loved ones!!! Don’t send your loved one there for services! I was so angry and if they hadn’t screwed around with me because they were «so busy» I could have had everything done right away, but no, my husband sat for 6 days before being taken care of!

Very unprofessional and insensitive. I would never recommend them. It took 12 days from the time my fathers body arrived to get him buried despite having prearranged a plot. Paperwork was lost even though email confirmations were received. Despite being told we wanted a burial the company told us 4 different days the holdup was for cremation paperwork. My father never wanted a cremation and it was very upsetting. A terrible experience.

money grubbing people. my brother in law passed away. we had him sent here because of the finances. after signing a contract in the amount we was told my sister went to pay they are charging 350 dollars more because of his size. it was not in the contract that they charge by weight nor on the website does it say anything. then they say it takes three weeks to receive his remains. do not use

The staff was very professional, courteous, attentive and understanding. Beloved wife of 52 years, and Mom to 5 beautiful kids, she passed unexpectedly, and we truly appreciate the help and guidance of Stacy, Chris, and Dan. Christine was amazing! My father passed away in January but we are having his celebration of life this weekend. It is Friday the services on Sunday and contacting the Marines for his Final Salute they told me take his discharge papers to the post office and they will give me a flag. That is exactly what I did. When I arrived they told me I needed at DD 214 form and that they could not give me a flag without one. I was horrified here it was Friday the services in two days what will I do?!? I called the Marines and they said I should have that paperwork in his folder for the Marines… Back at the house. This was the second post office that I had to go to and I was already an hour late for work. I went out to my car and cried. I called Desert memorial where he was cremated, very upset and Christine was incredible! She filled out the form for me to faxed them all the paperwork that was necessary I received my flag and I am ready for my Daddy’s Final Salute! Thank you Christine for all your help you truly were a Godsend!

Our experience with Desert Memorial began on a good note when I spoke with a gentleman by the name of Chris the evening my mother passed. We made an appointment the next day to meet with Kristen Anderson the following day. The office cannot be described as anything other than a dump. They obviously don’t put a penny back into their business.
After making us wait 40 minutes past our appointment time (we arrived early) during which we were promised several times that it would be just a few minutes, we experienced a bait and switch by Kristen where she wanted to more than double the price given to us by Chris. In addition, I had called the day before to confirm that our cemetery selection would be included in their base price and was told by another gentleman that it was– Kristen also jumped on this and stated the cemetery was indeed not within their range and would be an extra charge. After insisting that they honor their promises (and waiting a long time), they finally agreed to what they promised us.
Their chapel is downright embarrassing. We were completely shocked that this ‘business’ is not ashamed to charge similar prices as the other funeral service companies yet provide an atmosphere is way below anything you could imagine. There is no staff present at the chapel, no one tells you where anything is or what the process is. My husband went to look for the bathroom and ended up walking into two separate rooms during his search– both rooms were unlocked and contained deceased bodies in various stages of preparation. The actual bathroom is disgusting. What is really sad is that it would not take much money at all to make both their offices and especially the chapel look inviting and clean. Their lack of care for people alive and deceased is very apparent.
The most professional part of our experience with Desert Memorial was our interaction with the two gentlemen that drove the hearse to the cemetery and stayed to attend our gravesite service and offer their condolences before they left. You are both fine men and we appreciated your service.

I do not even need to write anything because the other reviews said it all. only mine gets better… they put the wrong social on the death certificate, when I asked them about it they told me it was my problem that I had to get it fixed. Wow in my time of grieving these idiots do not even want to help me with their mistake. The first lady I spoke with Kristen, told me that I called her and gave her the wrong SS# 2x… the next day the funeral director called me back and said my father in law gave him the wrong SS#…sounds fishy to me… anyway…now I am left doing the dirty work and have to wait a minimum of at least 4 weeks for a new copy… please…please stay away from desert HELLMORIAL… now I even wonder if my wifes cremates are even hers…

This place was horrible. My father passed away on July 1 and a death certificate and burial bermits were not ready until July 15^th. My father had prearranged his wishes. Burgie was extremely rude and not helpful at all. We had to ask the questions. She did not guide us at all. I was not allowed to verify that my father was actually in the casket. It was a terrible experience and i hope if this keeps at least one family from using there services, then this post is worth it.

Desert Memorial DOES NOT belong in this type of business. They are insensitive and unprofessional! If I could curse on here, I would express how I REALLY feel about this place.
My family flew to Las Vegas on a last minute emergency trip for my grandpa who was on vacation there and had unfortunately passed. I initially called several memorial places to have him cremated. We ended up picking Desert Memorial because they were close to where we were staying (Downtown Las Vegas) and the gentleman on the phone (at the time) seemed extremely helpful and sympathetic. I think I called him about 5 times within the night of my grandfathers passing, just to ask him questions. I had thought we had made a good decision. He told me that the process would probably take about 3 – 4 days and that the process would be quick because they have dealt with the hospice my grandfather was at on numerous occasions. Time was crucial for us because we were from out of town and my aunt had been staying in a hotel the whole time.
Two days later (Friday), my aunt called them to inquire what the next step was and because she had not received any phone call from them. The female that answered the phone insisted that she had called my aunt several times and left messages on her phone. LIES!!! ALL LIES!!! We even check the home phone back in Hawaii, just to see if she mistakenly called that number. LIES!!!
The female then tells my aunt to call back on Monday at 11am to follow up on the process. Monday at 11am, my aunt calls, only to find out that the female was OFF!!! She wasn’t even scheduled to come in that day!!!
I decided to call Desert Memorial myself for an explanation and to see if there was anyone else that could assist my aunt. A gentleman answered the phone and as soon as I started asking questions he became unpleasant, REFUSED to give me any information and REFUSED to disclose his name. All he kept saying to me was «the process has already been started and we don’t know how long it will take». To make matters worse, when I asked him, «may I ask who I am speaking with?» HE HANGS UP ON ME!!! If I hadn’t already flown back to Hawaii, I would have drove my merry butt to have a word with him that second!
It is now the 5^th day since they took my grandpa’s body and only NOW they are starting the process in getting the proper documentation from the doctors signed, etc. I AM LIVID!!! On top of that, my aunt had to extend her expensive hotel stay in Las Vegas again! You would think that these people would be more sympathetic towards people that are grieving. We were vulnerable to trust this company and now they already have our money. It’s not like we can just take my grandpa back and go somewhere else. We just have to sit and play the waiting game with them now. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!

They don’t even deserve 1 star.
In someone’s most vulnerable and desperate moments, they take advantage of their state of mind during grieving by telling them things they don’t want to hear.
Everyone I’ve known that has passed, whether they are buried or cremated, has a viewing within 3 days and is buried/​cremated by the end of that week.
And these are people who were young, no one expected them to die. When they did die, it was a horrible accident, or they had no idea what happened and they required a full autopsy.
My grandmother had everything planned for years. Her urn, her plans, her service, the wake, where she will go. It was all worked out and paid for.
Not only that, but we knew what she died from and she was definitely not young.
Why, then, did these crooks say it would take 3 weeks for the complete process?
Not only that, they decided to tell my grandpa he needed to pay $ 500 to have the process «expedited.» This was supposed to convert the 3 week process into 3 – 5 days.
How does one expedite this process?
Do they print the death certificate on a magic super-​fast printer? Do they cut in front of other families that also experienced the loss of a loved one?
Total was ~$ 1000 to «expedite and finish» the process.
It has been over a week. We have heard nothing.
And every different office that deals with deaths is closed on weekends.
I’m sorry, I thought people died every day.
So from now on, I guess we just can’t let people die on Saturday or Sunday!
