Doctor Auto is a family owned and operated business. Our first location on West Craig Road opened 2001. Thanks to you, our customers, we were able to open a second location to service many of our existing customers in their neighborhood on West Ann Road in 2006. Our motto «Hometown Service with Integrity» is what sets us apart from all other auto service centers. We can provide the personalized customer service and strive to create a long lasting and personal relationship.

Doctor Auto brings top-​notch workmanship to Las Vegas for air conditioning, brakes, front-​end work, cooling and electrical systems, all types of engine repairs and preventive maintenance on foreign and domestic vehicles. We utilize state of the art equipment and employ ASE certified mechanics. As a AAA approved shop, we invite members to enjoy a 10% labor discount on any repair or maintenance service. Doctor Auto also offers military and teacher discounts.

History

Established in 2001.

In 1992, back in the days before Google Maps, Ron Garan who, at the time, was an F-​16 Instructor Pilot at the US Air Force’s Fighter Weapons School at Nellis AFB was driving around North Las Vegas looking for a place to wash his car. After driving around for 45 minutes with no success he saw this unmet need as a potential business opportunity.

Ron and his brother John joined forces and built the Desert Oasis Car Wash and Emissions Test Station on the corner of Craig and Rancho in Las Vegas in 1993. The success of the initial business led the brothers to branch out into automotive repair, constructing the Doctor Auto repair shop on the adjacent lot a few years after launching Desert Oasis.

Over the years since then John has continued to grow the business-​opening a second shop on Ann road in North Las Vegas in 2007. We are constantly striving to find ways to help local Las Vegas efforts that are improving our community and efforts that are seeking to improve our global community.

As the owner of Doctor Auto, John takes pride in being there to help our customers with their auto needs. Our goal is to provide superior customer service, develop long lasting personal relationships and be the neighborhood repair shop where we know our customers by first name. We strive hard to exceed our customer’s expectations. Doctor Auto has grown into one of the most popular auto repair shops over the years because of the trust we have earned from our customers.

I have been going to Dr. Auto on W. Craig for two years now. I’m a transplant from California and needed a new garage to care for my cars. Tried a few shops in Summerlin but they were over-​priced and tried to make me repair things that didn’t need to. I found this business on Angie’s List. So I got a second opinion on the so-​called issues. They performed free diagnosis and low and behold the issues weren’t real. I have to drive a bit to get there but it’s worth it.
Nick Chavez (Service Manager) is very knowledgeable and down to earth. Their work is above par and pricing is fair. They even give discounts to vets. They also have a smog check station and car wash. I get discounts for smog checks and even free car washes plus they have a discount program where you buy a punch card for discounted services and oil changes. If you just use the oil change deals, you will have made your money back and then some. Join their rewards plan (for free) and lots of discounts are provided. Even if you don’t get any repairs, you can use these discounts toward the purchase of the punch card.
In closing. My one gripe is that the shop on W. Craig has 3 service bays so they’re quite busy. Call ahead to schedule a service, but if you need to tow your vehicle there due to an emergency, I’m sure they’ll do their best to accommodate you (it’s happened to me already).

I wanted to like Doctor Auto, and I gave them many chances but I never felt they were doing the job right. Gut feelings should not be ignored. Everyone is nice and they go through the customer service motions, but repair after repair my truck still wasn’t fixed.
Originally I complained of a whizzing/​whining sound and a small coolant leak. I was told I needed a new water pump, and suggested I change the timing belt while they’re in there as it would only be $ 45 for the part, I agreed. $ 728 total.
Truck still making same noise when my husband brought it back. I called, and a week later we dropped it off again. This time we were told it was the Harmonic Balance. I bitched about not fixing it the first time and they waved the labor costs for this repair. $ 276 total.
I was startled when I picked the truck up as the noise was much louder, I stood there wondering how I was going to handle this when a mechanic came over from the garage and asked if that noise was normal, I told him it wasn’t and he brought it back into the garage. About 10 minutes later he brought it back and said it was all set. The noise returned on my drive home. I called when I got home and was told any noise I heard was the new timing belt and it would either go away or maybe we’d just have to live with it as it was an old truck and when you take them apart sometimes they don’t go back together the same. Needless to say I was not happy with this answer but out of money and time I just tried to put it behind me.
Over the next 12 months that noise remained and as instructed, we’ve learned to live with it.
Finding oil on my garage floor I needed to have someone look at it. I went to another mechanic (look on Unilocal for the 5 star mechanic, he’s the only one in town and deserves every star) and was told the leak was coming from under the timing cover which was severely bent and rubbing causing some further damage. While replacing the oil seals he confirmed my water pump looked new but when he removed the timing belt he found the belt riddled with cracks making him think it was either never replaced or replaced with one that had been very old. He also said the tensioner pulley was very damaged and old; old with no grease making it spin freely, and full of debris making a «whizzing» sound as it spun out of control — I did not complain about the noise to this mechanic and he used the exact word to describe the noise that has plagued me for a year! He replaced the timing belt and pulley and the noise is GONE!!! (I also have the pulley and can identify it is the exact noise we were hearing.)
I thought about bringing the pulley and belt into Doctor Auto to complain but I don’t want to fight with anyone and I know there is no way to prove they did unnecessary work (other than common sense). I don’t think they did this on purpose, I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the fact remains that my problem was misdiagnosed multiple times costing me A LOT of money. Not to mention the bent timing cover that caused more damage in the long run.
So, they are nice but I don’t trust their diognostics.
Doing the job right only matters if you’re doing the right job!

I’ve been going here for Smog Test ever since they opened up this Doctor Auto location. Service is very good and quick. The staff are very nice and very accommodating. I even recommended them to my friends and relatives and they also liked the service here.

My in-​laws are snowbirds, with a 2nd home in Phoenix. Trying to score some ‘what-​an-​awesome-​guy-​our-​daughter-​married’ points, we made the trip from Phoenix to North Las Vegas to get their condo ready and the car out of storage.
Though the online appointment I booked didn’t go through, they fit me in quickly as a walk-​in, ran the initial smog check and fully inspected the vehicle systems — all for the price of the smog check. I particularly appreciated the detailed list of items that needed to be address that included a triage type listing of what would need to be done with the car down the road. They could have told me the wheels were about to fall off, they could have gouged me with a huge bill — they didn’t do either.
Sitting there I noticed that one of their biggest assets is Marty at the front desk. She skillfully juggled the phones, new customers, and obvious ‘regulars’ — making sure that everyone felt like they were the most important customer in the world. I cannot say enough about this fine team and their ‘can-​do’ attitude except to say that I wish they were in Phoenix.

i have been coming to Doctor Auto now for close to 4 years. I am a single lady and I have always been treated with such respect and I never ever feel like I am being taken advantage of. The employees at both locations are so kind and professional. I refer all my friends to them. Doctor Auto is the best auto shop. Give them a try and you will be very satisfied.

I always use this place for all 5 of my vehicle’s smog check… today I forgot my coupon and my son was on his way (1 minute out) and this prick said $ 19.99 is the best I can do for you… because a car pulled up. I have influenced all of my Law Enforcement family to go here… and now I will definitely spread the word of this 1 pricks selfish $ 4.00 savings. Pathetic customer service. It’s the principle about doing good things and you just lost about 37 customers!

When you are sick, you go to the doctor. My older car was dying and I had to go to Dr Auto for the correct not 2nd opinion, but 3rd. Every shop has to say something different. But the techs led by Nick found the real problem. Did it take time and money, yes, but you have to make the investment. These guys are great. Thanks Nick and Brian for a job Well done. And I can’t forget Steve for shuttling me back and forth. I love the great service and expertise. Thanks Dr Auto!

Integrity? Whatever! These guys are liars or they’re not very good mechanics. Had a smoke test done to identify a problem. Let’s just say that after 3 times of having the problem they identified fixed — I ended up going to a totally different place in Summerlin who not only identified a totally different problem, but took me to work and picked me up while actually fixing my vehicle. My boyfriend warned me against this place and I should have listened. They are lazy crooks. Do not bring your car here. You will regret it.

They are too busy for a simple headlight bulb change. I don’t know about these guys
The man at the front desk look at the issue and said they have to remove the entire headlight assembly and they won’t be able to get into it till one or two days later! So crazy! Shady! He said look at all the cars we have up front. I agreed and left. Found a place that is also pretty busy and Will of A2 auto repair took care of my light bulb change and his mechanic Cris did it in less than 5 minutes! Did not have to Remove the whole headlight just to change the bulb. So Unilocalers, you decide if you want to take your vehicle to Doctor Auto

I went in for a new alternator and the rice was as good as buying the parts myself and just getting the labour done there, so I got it all done at once and an oil change! All fixed! However, I was aware of many additional problems to my vehicle which they gave me a ton of coupons and discounts for. Very happy with the service. I incredibly fast and very nice people — good customer service! :) Will be a regular from now on!

I came here for a smog check, so I have no idea how they do as far as auto repairs. When I pulled up there was no line. I waited a few minutes and then a guy came over and got some info from me and then not too much later the smog check was done and I was ready to pay and be on my way. I had a coupon for a $ 15.99 total smog check and the guy honored it no problem. He also gave me a coupon for a free car wash which was a nice touch I sure didn’t expect. They take all competitors coupons, but any coupons priced below $ 15.99 will be honored at $ 15.99 which is still a great price. They take cash, debit and all major credit cards however personal checks are not accepted. I like that they are open later than most other smog places, but call first before making the drive over. I was going to one of their other locations first until I found out they were closing when I called and the guy told me about this location. I’d come back for sure since the whole experience was quick, convenient, affordable and I got a free car wash!

Unparalleled work ethics and prices. My wife had to take her car into Fire Stone at Nellis AFB for an oil chance, the oil pan hole turned out to be stripped and the whole oil pan had to be replaced, job was quoted at $ 600. I am currently deployed to east Africa and had no way of helping her out towing her vehicle from Fire Stone to Doctor auto or even verify the legitimacy of the problem.
Called Doctor Auto, talked to Nick Chavez, and got it all taken care of. He gave me a quote for $ 350 including towing and a nice 10% military discount. Words cannot express how grateful we are.

Doctor Auto was the shop I took my car to for over two years, I thought I was being taken care of then I found out they hadn’t done work I was charged for, they used rebuilt parts instead of new ones then they tried to charge me $ 2,000 for valve job I didn’t need.
Now I am worried about any and all work they have done to my car.

I came here to have my air conditioning fixed. Living in Vegas and having your A/​C go out is definitely not enjoyable. They were the first mechanic I came to because of other great reviews here on Unilocal.They diagnosed my car FOR FREE and didn’t make me feel obligated to have the work done here. He explained the pricing very clearly and said they would even be fine with me bringing in my own parts. The guys were very prompt and friendly. Lobby is clean with complimentary coffee water, and magazines if you decide to wait there. I felt very comfortable with them being the ones to work on my car. Nick was a great guy. Helpful and super friendly :) give them a visit you won’t regret it

Changed my review from 5 to 3 stars for the following reasons. I had a second opinion done on my car just in case. Turns out my car was misdiagnosed COMPLETELY. They said it was a blower and resistor. I bought the parts and everything and they wanted 350 to fix it. The second diagnosis through another mechanic found my blower motor and resistor were completely functional once power was put to them and it was a melted blower pin on the switch and a bad connection at the junction. A lot cheaper labor and parts. I was impressed at first but glad I didn’t waste 350 for absolutely nothing. I know mistakes happen but that is too expensive of a mistake for me right now.

I live right around the corner from a 12 bay garage. However, I will drive over 5 miles to get to Doctor Auto on Craig Road when I need something done on my car. They give great service, they are honest, reasonable, and they get the job done right. Nick even took time out of a busy day to help me when I needed advice when buying a used car. He steered me away from what could have been a seriously bad purchase. It’s nice when you can say «let me have my mechanic take a look at it, and feel 100% safe in doing that. I just can’t say enought about these guys. I’ve been a customer for over 3 years now and very satisfied with them.

I took my car here in October 2012 and never got around to leaving a review. I noticed a clicking noise inside my dash and Dr. Auto identified it as a problem with the mode-​actuator doors that control the heating/​ac air flow. They fixed it, but when I got my car back I was frustrated to hear a new clicking or knocking noise coming from inside the dash. It seemed as if when they dismantled the dash, they put it back together wrong, or broke something else when they were putting it back together. After recording the sound, several phone calls, and an email to the owner I was able to take my car back in and they fixed the new problem for no additional cost to me.
On that alone, I would probably rate this place a 3, or maybe even a 4 star since they were eventually willing to work with me and fix the mistakes they had made. I’m giving Dr. Auto a 2 star rating though because I recently called to get a quote for a laundry list of repairs that the dealership recommended. I figured since Dr. Auto made it right the last time around, I owed it to them to reach out for another set of repairs. I spoke with someone who said he was busy with another customer and he would call me back. It’s been 6 days and I’ve never heard back from Dr. Auto — for me, that was their final chance. I took my business to other auto shops I found on Unilocal that had better reviews and have been really pleased with the response and attention I received at the other shops.
