Elite Event – K-Pop Goes The Yelper @ 21 Restaurant & Lounge

This review is really late, but this was a great event!
The complimentary sake and sake cocktails were tasty, and the food — although scarce — really hit the spot. The scavenger hunt was fun (and the Elite socks are really cool!). And the soundtrack! Awesome k-​pop videos on the TV all night — and (almost) no PSY. Thank god.

I always love attending Unilocal Elite events! What a great way to build relationships with other Unilocalers and enjoy an evening conversing about the one thing we all love: food! 21 Restaurant and Lounge was the next venue for this event and I was excited. I LOVE Korean food :)
The lounge is located in an awkward strip mall on Sahara. Thank goodness when you enter the location it looks like a trendy place. I was pleasantly surprised! The place was illuminated by neon pinks and purples, as well as the multiple display of projected TVs on the wall. The projectors, played shows and Korean music videos all night. Definitely confirmed that this place was a Korean joint. The staff was friendly and accommodating as well. At some point, the place became really hot. The bartender was super nice to grab a ladder and change all 20 thermostats in the place so that we were enjoying our evening comfortably.
The food seemed to run out quickly, however, I was able to get a taste of the following: 1. Sweet and Spicy Boneless Chicken: reminded me of the orange chicken you get at Panda Express. It wasn’t as spicy as advertised by nicely breaded and tender. 2. Bulgogi: My favorite food that night. It was super flavorful, spicy and delicious! 3. Kim Chee Fried Rice: I’m always a fan of Kim Chee. Didn’t really taste the full kim chee flavor in this rice, however, I knew it was there because I could taste the cabbage within the rice. No bad flavor, just not as strong as I’m used to. 4. Omelet fried rice: Always a fan of this type of fried rice as well. This rice was flavorful and on point. Reminded me of back home in Hawaii. For the drink specials, I’ve had the opportunity to try three types of Soju: 1. Mango Soju: My favorite! Tropical, sweet flavor, really went down smooth. Loved it! 2. Pomegranate Soju: Sweet with a hint of tart, almost like a subtle cranberry juice. Still went down smoothly :) 3. Chimisel Premium Soju: This was a gentlemen’s Soju. It will definitely put hair on your chest! Halfway between a vodka and a warm sake shot, this drink is not to be taken lightly!
Once again, I would love to thank Misty, Molly and and the rest of the Unilocal crew for putting together a great event. I’m always thankful for the opportunity and this event was no different. I’m excited to continue this road of amazing food friendships and serendipitous interactions!

My husband and I attended this event and had a great time! The Korean food was delightful, I especially enjoyed the Kim Chee Rice. I was so sad that I didn’t know what K Pop attire was because I sooooo would have worn my thigh high boots and mini skirt! Booooo! I still haven’t gotten over that! I loved the Bingo game that got everyone talking to each other and I LOVE my Elite socks! I rock them frequently!
As for the bar itself — it was dark, rather warm and I don’t think I saw a single employee smile once! They were busy getting all the Unilocalers intoxicated but seriously SMILE! I feel like this place needs some life pumped into it!
The event was awesome as is Misti!!!

This was my first Elite event that I was able to attend, and this was a fun one! It was also a bittersweet one for me as I had just recently found out that the YLV CM Misty, was stepping down soon. I wish her the best in the world, and was very thankful to have had the chance to get to know her, and I hope to still see her around the area.
The event itself was held at the 21 restaurant and lounge, a Korean bar/​restaurant that had opened up recently on Sahara and Decatur. We were asked to dress up as our favorite K-​pop (Korean pop music) performers. Being one of the few guys to dress up, I came as G-​Dragon from the group, «Big Bang». I don’t think anyone there really watched a lot of K-​Pop, because most of the questions I got were «who are you»? LOL.
We first started playing a bingo-​like game where we asked each other questions, and if they had the answer, then we would right in their names in the box, and whoever got a full line across, and down, would receive their gift bags (Did someone say Unilocal socks? :-D)
Then, the food started coming out. Boy, let me tell you, as soon as it came out, it was GONE!!! (Someone should have told these guys that Unilocalers Do-​not-​play-​Around LMAO!!!) There was bulgogi (soy sauce marinated beef), kimchi fried rice, and some other stuff. Everything was good. I especially liked the deep fried chicken.
We did receive a ticket for a special shot of soju. After receiving my shot, I asked how much the rest of the drinks were. The bartender told me that it was open bar. Ok… Hold up…. When he said that, a light popped in my head, and it wasn’t from the Kpop girls on the TV screens. As many of you know, open bar is to Michael K., as, cookies is to cream, Simon is to Garfunkle, Hansel is to Gretel…, OK, you get the point. After many, many, Many drinks later, I was in a good place. Amazing selection of soju’s there, most of which I had never even heard of.
After mingling for a while we said our goodbye’s and after-​partied at Soyo. This was a fantastic night. Big thanks to Misti, Molly, and Bobby for a wonderful event.

This event had everyone sipping on tasty alcoholic beverages, partying to K-​Pop Music, enjoying the fun atmosphere at 21, and we got to have much fun meeting new Unilocalers playing a meet and greet bingo game!
So many thanks to Misti for this awesome event for Elites. I know we all cherish all the hard work she has put into many events, not just this one! But this one definitely rocked. The bartenders were super friendly and kept the drinks flowing.
21 was an excellent venue because ti was spacious with a lot of seating, but also, a big area to mingle. The changing lights at the tables is a very chic touch to this already fun bar restaurant and lounge.
Overall this was a great Elite event. So, thank you Misti once again for an amazing time!

Finally popped my 2013 Elite Event cherry tonight! I tried but I don’t think I did the k-​pop fashion any justice haha. First things first though thank you to our Community Managaer/​Director Misti and assistant Molly for their time put into Unilocal!
I arrived with my +1 Kari who I met with her fiancé at Ember’s (had to pay) and then again at Sugar Factory (was free) and tried to explain the differences between events thrown by Unilocal and some courteous and unwritten rules (tip, bite/​sample so you can review it [because we’ll eat and hangout more afterwards]). But hopefully it makes a little bit more sense now!
We were checked in by Molly who gave us drink tickets for soju shots and myself a bingo game to complete for some Unilocal swag. The icebreaker bingo game was fun. Some people just wrote names down but the way I did it with my assistant Kari was we needed proof! You had kids? Show me pictures! Kari rapped the Fresh Prince song, played rocks paper scissors, and crossed her eyes for other Unilocalers to complete their game sheets.
I still want to try the actual Bingo game in a casino. :/​
We walked around and said hello to familiar faces, people we’ve never met before, and finally turned our drink tickets in for one of the sweeter soju options and it was nice! Really changes my perception of just the rubbing alcohol ones that I’ve had in the past. They actually had about 9 different types of Soju all laid out and we opted to play it safe but were happy with our choices. We then switched over to the longer line which the wait time wasn’t long at all especially if you’re conversing with people around you. I was able to sample both the ginger and coconut vodkas (?) and really enjoyed them. I went back for more but tried the flavored ones instead, I liked the apple, raspberry, and the blue one! The only two food items I tried were the fried rice with egg and chicken katsu, both nice and I can see myself coming here after a drunken night to sober up and eat. I’m gonna try it one night fosho!
Looking inside from the outside is completely different. From the outside all you see are the stale walls, aroma of badly burnt chicken and intestines from next door, and dark/​blacked out windows but when you walk in you see neon lights, nice chairs and booths, large tv displays all the way around the room, and a nice well stocked bar in the center. Excellent venue!
But it started to get a little warm in there and I was trying to find spots where the AC was somewhat running. I found two cooling spots where the vents were pushing out air, one was at the bar while standing in line and the other was by the booth where Andrea F was sitting at! The other cooldown spot was by the door where the Unilocal table was setup.
Props to everyone that tried to dress K-​Pop. Kevin Pop?, I like that. Ok yea but and thank you to Misti and Molly for all you’ve done, sincerely! Now stop working and play with us! Thank you to Unilocal once again, everyone who attended, and 21 for having us.
The expression on the older gentlemen not part of the Unilocal event sitting at the bar was priceless, I keep seeing them look over at Julie K’s table hahaha, I’m pretty sure her table could have gotten free drinks sent over there all night.

Based on the generosity of the owners in accommodating such a large and critical group I am giving this a 4 star rating. It was a good event but there were minor hitches that just kept it from being perfect.
This new k-​pop lounge has glowing tables, a couch area and a bar in the center surrounded by televisions showing music videos and sports. I am not a big fan of the character of the place but understand it is very k-​pop and I am sure their target audience will love it.
I did love the drinks, especially the pomegranate and peach drinks. I did not like the rice alcohol that much but it was better to drink it fast.
The food was good, but not standout. They must not have expected the demand and could not keep the mini buffet they created stocked. It might have been smoother to do it cafeteria style with large buffet trays and spooning out a portion instead of leaving it to everyone to try. They weren’t stingy by any means, they just put out small portions which went super fast.
The place was boiling hot at first but after they played with the thermostats, it cooled down.
I got my swag bag thanks to Unilocal bingo and met some new people and saw some familiar faces. It was great to see Misti, Molly, Ife, Lisa R, Sheila and Herb (almost a year ago was the last time we were at the same event), Anthony M, Kevin P, and more.
I wish the venue had a smoother go of it but what they did present was excellent and well appreciated. I wish them luck in this difficult environment.

Unilocalers called upon their inner K-​Pop stars last night. Everyone was decked out in their finest K-​Pop attire. It was like everyone came together at 21 Restaurant & Lounge after a long day of being on the set of a Korean music video.
The event was fun and chill. Unilocalers received entertaining bingo sheets that could be redeemed for a grab bag prize once completed, and a ticket for a free soju drink. I didn’t have any drinks, but my friends enjoyed shots served in heart-​shaped glasses. I did take a whiff of the lemongrass soju, and it had a strong aroma that made me crave phở — out of all foods and at all places.
Food was served, but quantities were limited, but management was doing their best to make sure everyone didn’t leave without having some bites before leaving. My friend was lucky to grab one of the last plates on the counter of what looked like kimchi fried rice with a side of two mini cream puffs.
To complete the K-​Pop atmosphere, Korean pop jams were played and K-​pop music videos aired alongside a marathon of every Pitbull music video ever made — he really is Mr. Worldwide.

This was by far my favoritest (yes, that’s a word — Urban Dictionary said so.) event thus far! I’m mad motivated to make it to Elite status because you kids know what’s up. Seriously though, you Unilocalers are some friendly cats. I met a ton of people and ran into a few familiar faces. My ADD was on overdrive with all the new faces, so if my conversation was choppy and all over the place, whoopies — sorry! The bingo was a great way to meet and chat with new peeps. Even though I wasn’t able to play, I still got to show off my cross-​eyed skills and sing The Fresh Prince of Bel-​Air about ten times. Mom would be so proud!
Not much food, but we were all forewarned before attending. What food was set out (the Sweet Spicy Chicken, etc) was delish, though. The Soju drinks were surprisingly awesome, too! I’m a Soju virgin and was under the assumption that they were going to be unbearably strong, but they were juuuuuuust right. In all the flowing drinks, I actually learned a ton about Korean grub! One things for sure, when a Korean menu says «Spicy Noodles» the noodles are legit Spicy. Like, order a pitcher of water on the side kind of spicy. Like, they should put the word Spicy in bold, all caps with like flames surrounding it. That or I just need to eat more Korean food. :)
Oh, I can’t forget! The service! The line was intimidating but the bartenders and servers were quick and friendly. I was super impressed and felt very special that they knew me by name until I realized I was wearing a name tag. Heh! #blondemoment
All in all, thanks for letting a non-​elite attend your gathering! Also, thanks to Misti, Molly, 21 and co. for a fun party and Kevin P. for letting me be your +1! You rock! Oh and to the drink slinger, Ryan Woo, for the strong, yet very tasty Cosmopolitan.

My K-​Pop girl group and I decided to make a celebrity appearance at this event to wish Misti Y. off. We had hoped to perform a song for the event, but turns out half of us don’t speak Korean, so we settled on drinking a lot and eating what we could of the food that they set out.
This was such a fun event! Yes the restaurant was really hot and the lines for food and drinks seemed endless, and the food disappeared as soon as it was set down, but regardless of all of that, we had a blast. I was able to get my hands on some of the food they set out for the party, and it was good, but we also ordered food off the menu and it was all really yummy.
We used our drink ticket to try this rasberry korean wine and it was delicious, so we bought a bottle of it, but the bartender misunderstood and made a complicated-​looking drink in a carafe of blueberry something. They ended up only charging us for the wine and giving us this carafe on the house, which was very nice. Thank you Oppa!

It was odd… I came to this event and had a hard time finding any Unilocalers, although the place was packed with Korean Pop stars!
Shane N. and I were fashionably late because we had just walked off a plane. We missed out on most of the food and also the official pics, but I earned my elite socks by mingling with friends (thanks everyone) and we enjoyed plenty of the Kai Vodka!
I deducted a star because the restaurant was unbearably hot, although I think they finally got the AC working for a while. Also, because Misti is leaving us, and in my protest I took a star off my rating as my form of kicking and screaming.
This was my first Elite event, and I told Bobby that I felt like many people were ‘clique-​ish’ hovering in the booths and keeping to themselves. He told me I was crazy, that it was more the venue layout that created that then it was the people. So I decided to be the weirdo who went around and said, «Hey I don’t know you. I’m Kayla!» For those tables I got around to, I was warmly received. I ended up meeting a lot of Elites I hadn’t met before.
I will definitely return to 21 Restaurant, I’d love to try more of their food! Thanks to all who came out — but especially thanks to Misti and Molly *tear* for hosting yet another fun Unilocal evening. It’s so good to be Elite!

After coming here with friends about a month ago and having a freakin’ awesome time, we were MORE than excited that there was an Elite event happening here!!!
We Googled some images and decided on some coordinating outfits to let out our inner Kpop star! Dressing up was half the fun and of course the food — NOM NOM NOM — and drinks were awesome too!
There could have been MORE food but like the event page said, there would just be some light munchies so dont come starving! We ended up ordering some food off the menu and it was very good just like the last time we were here!
The manager also remembered ua from our previous visit and thanks to Julie K. and Misti he put MORE food out for the party!
All in all it was a fun local event and it was great to mingle and meet new people, friends from Unilocal and old faces as well!
I also got my Unilocal socks! Woo woo! I was on a mission and I cant wait to rock them AND use my reusable Unilocal bag!

Yay for my first Unilocal event as a Unilocaler and an Elite!
Unfortunately, I was late to my first event. I work in Henderson and picked up my friend which made our arrival time close to 8. That didn’t rain on my parade though! I was just happy to go. When we arrived, I met Misti, in person, for the first time. She greeted me as if we met before, which on here I guess we all get a slice of everyone’s life. She is so sweet!
Due to my late arrival, I missed out on most of the goodies. There was a plate of shrimp that came out, so I was able to snag a few of the deliciousness that left me wanting more. My friend and I stood in line for a drink, which went fairly quick, both the line and the drink. The flavored Soju they had was so good. I only had two because drinking that was like drinking juice. The only flavored Soju I had before this event was watermelon, and I was in Korea.
I loved this event. I love K-​Pop and I tried to put something together for the evening-​blue disco pants with a bandeau and blazer. I tried :) The bingo was a cool idea I didn’t feel I was a social as I should and could have been. I was a bit intimidated as many were in groups. Silly of me because we were all there to have a good time and meet new people. I did chat with a few, but I would love to meet more people at the next event I attend. Kamsahamnida to all involved for putting this fun event together!

Aishh! It’s Unilocal-​tastical! Soju and Korean pop stars was had by all! But for the life of me I couldn’t find any traces of Kim Nana from City Hunter anywhere. Boo.
This was a nice and more personal Elite event for everyone attending to get to know each other. These little venues not only help out the small business crowd, but also lets us Unilocalers and Elites alike mingle the night away. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander!
It was a nicely packed crowd at the 21 Restaurant & Lounge, with many doing their best impression of K-​Pop stars. I unfortunately forgot my PSY mask at home because I was too busy trying to find my old pair of Hammer pants. Oh well. Props to those that actually put in the dress-​up effort! Oppa Gangnam Style! Hey… sexy ladies…
After saying HI to Misti Mama and getting signed in by our fabulous Unilocal-​tern Molly, we were given a few tickets for some premium soju, a pen, a sheet for Unilocal Korean Bingo, and the signal to go, go, go mingle! Time to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones! I was determined to get those Unilocal Elite socks! They would make great hand puppets! Ok, Ok, the wifey thought they would be cool. But I was all in for the juice box, and the bag of shrimp crackers!
Unilocal Bingo was fun, and we were able to get squares filled in no time for us to claim our famous loot. I had to beat a few people in rock, paper, scissors, and show off my *SWEET DANCE MOVES*, but after that it was off to the races to get our Unilocal swag bag! Nothin’ sweeter than some Elite socks (except maybe my sweet moves). Got my juice and got my crackers, but how come our swag bag was missing our Korean hair product? Did somebody steal ours? Hmmmm… I bet it was one of those K-​Pop stars…
21 Restaurant & Lounge put out a nice spread of their Korean specialties for us to try. Had to get there early or else you might not have got any! From Omelet Rice, Kim Chee Fried Rice (yum), Bulgogi, Sweet Spicy Chicken, and Mayo Shrimp it was all pretty darn good. I had seconds! Ma-​si-​sseo-​yo! I’m pretty sure that means ‘delicious’ in Korean!
Drinks were on point as well. The young coconut and lemongrass ginger vodka were welcome friends! I liked the smooth coconut finish, but damn that ginger hits you like a drum! Crazy tasty! I also enjoyed using my ticket to savor some of that high-​class soju being offered. I very much liked the fruity plum soju, not overly strong and with a nice finish of sweetened plum. I could have drank the entire bottle! Drinking was totally worth the wait in line.
Overall a great Elite Event, got to catch up with some friends like Teri C., and got to meet a bunch of new Unilocal folks. I’m very sorry if I forgot all your names, I was a bit tipsy after my 3^rd drink! Kam sa hae yo to Misti Mama for putting on another stellar event!
Mother, Father… GENTLEMAN!

My hot date (Song K.) & I got off work at 7:00 so we didn’t even get to 21 till about 21 after 7 ;p so by the time we got there the partaaaaay was already crackin! We were greeted by the hot hottie Molly who mistakenly called me JENNY (whoever the heck that it LOL) … I forgive you Molly ;ppp Any who as always there was a cool ice breaker game (for Elites only) which allowed mingling with a few new folks not as awkward & helped me win some awesome socks ;]]]
We joined the rest of our K-​pop girl band (we were the ones in the black bottoms & white tops) and immediately got to drinking! We redeemed our ticket for a raspberry wine shot and then stood in the long-​ish line (it moved fast) for the mixed drinks which I later found out you could get 2 at a time and so I definitely took advantage of that (we took care of the bartenders too of course.) My friends didn’t like the ginger vodka drink but I did and it was pretty darn strong… just the way I like it YUM!
I heard there were supposed to be some light bites but they were nowhere to be found so Misti & I asked the manager and he hooked it up with some delicious mayo shrimp bites! My friends and I were still craving some munchies so we ordered a few things off the menu and everything was spicy and delish. Shout-​out to the handsome MIKE C. who took care of the bill for us ;]]] Towards the end of the night Mandi & Whitney scored some more booze from the bar and so we all left with a pretty good buzz~
Since there were so many bodies, LED tables and flat screens it got a bit warm in the lounge area but it honestly didn’t bother me and I was wearing a blazer! Nothing a little swish of the cool Unilocal fans couldn’t help solve~ They did run out of food but free is free so I’m not complaining ;))) The important thing is they never ran out of alcohol! HAH
It was great seeing everyone new & old! And thanks to everyone who stepped out of their comfort zones and chit chatted with me!
Also special thanks to Misti & Molly~!!! Since it was one of their last events they could have easily just said EF IT and not really cared how the night went but I saw them running around trying to make sure everyone was having a great time~!!! Also thanks to all the awesome unnies & oppas of 21, see y’all soon!!!

A great time as always! It had been well over a month since my wife and I attended a Unilocal event. We had a great time catching up with familiar faces along with meeting new ones.
It was all about the soju, baby! I stuck with the lemongrass ginger on the rocks and just tipped the bartender more to make it a triple. I was shocked at how gingery it was at first but it grew on me quickly. I didn’t try any of the food but my wife liked the beef and the omelet rice she sampled. Those shrimp chips in the gift bag sure came in handy by the end of the event.
I was impressed with quite a few of the get-​ups Unilocalers were sporting. Social bingo was a great way to mingle and meet some new folks. Thanks to Misti and Molly for setting up yet another fun event!

Just made it back to Vegas after being gone two months. After spending $ 1,190 to get my car out of impound, I needed a party to cheer me up!
I was lucky enough to try all of the food before some items ran out. Everything was awesome. Standouts for me were the chicken wings and the egg rice dish. Someone else smarter than me will remember what the dishes were actually called.
Drinks were actually a fun way to meet other Unilocalers as we stood in line to get drinks. Soju isn’t my thing, I guess, because I started to get a headache after 3 or 4. A lot of sugar and not much alcohol maybe. Wish I had more drink tickets to get premium drinks. The 1 I tried was more my speed.

Boy am I glad to be over 21! When I first walked in, Leos was walking up but he did not even know it was a Unilocal event! Woops! Glad he walked in tonight! My hubs had to work late so I brought Heather K. as my +1. She had just attended Dana S.‘s trivia night and hand sewed her outfit recently for a Japanese animé/​K-​pop inspired look and I was monumentally impressed.
I donned sparkly gold jeans, a black handkerchief hem top, a necklace that read like %#&#*! and some tall sparkly heels. That was all based on google images of kpop fashion, so I did my best. I tried the bulgogi and the spicy sweet chicken, both of which were tasty. I also tried the peach soju and the rice wine that was like a Korean sake but it tasted like beer. I spent a great deal of time hunting down someone to give me the big water glasses because it was a bit warm in the place, and this poor guy kept bringing a ladder near our table because the thermostat was on the ceiling in the middle of the dining area!
While we looked for a place to sit, Vicky B. and Sarah K. told us we could join them. We ended up hanging with them most of the time, having a fun and lively conversation about many different topics. I am so glad I met new people! I also got to see lots of my Unilocalfriends, some who I have seen recently at trivia and potlucks and some who I have not seen in awhile (like Rob P.!) — I also did not know Jay A. was on Unilocal but it turns out he has been elite for awhile! Cool!
Thanks to Molly T. and Misti Y. for a great time. I hope to SYOY wearing some awesome knee high socks, but if not, we shall all run into Misti Y. at one of our many fine local establishments!

The food was scarce but they more than made up for that in drinks. We imbibed quite a bit and got to chit chat with old and new Unilocalers. We had an absolutely fantastic time as always and we got Elite socks to boot!
My fella and I arrived a little late since he got out of work late but the party was just getting started. The line was long for drinks, but moved quickly Service was friendly too. The lounge was a little warm, so I wish they had cranked up the A/​C a little bit, but we found a nice little booth and made ourselves comfortable.
When we arrived all the food was gone, but they slowly put out more little by little. We decided to just skip the food and stick with the drinks, which were poured generously. All the soju flavors were good and I’ll definitely be back to check out more of their drink and food menu.
