Shawn Hong – Realty One Group

When my husband and I fist met with Shawn our impression of him was very good. And, we thought we had a guy that understood our needs and he was very sincere in his express abilities to help us find a new home in Las Vegas. At our first meeting we told Shawn that we were not familiar with all the areas of Las Vegas and we wanted to see properties in the 350−400k price range and that we preferred a pool in the backyard.
The next day Shawn picked us up and we drove out to the Air Force base area to see a property that was offered a bit over 500k and it did not have a pool. We decided that the area was a little far away from my husbands new job located in the central downtown area. We thought we should narrow the search down to at least a 15 – 20 mile radius so we could eventually save on gas. But Shawn still continued to comb the farthest edges of town showing us homes that were out of our price range. He even took us to neighboring Boulder city for a whole day. There were some beautiful older homes there but again it was just to far.
My husband doesn’t have the patience that I do and after days he wanted to find a different real estate agent. I felt bad for Shawn because he is young and wanted to help him out so I convinced my husband to give him another shot. My husband being the engineer that he is decided to print a map and circle the area that he did not want to live outside of. Shawn seemed a little insulted with the map but he did take it and said he would do some research and call us the next day.
The next day he called us and said that he was sorry that he was late and that his car broke down. So we had to wait two extra days to see more properties. But, he did eventually show us properties in the area that we circled on the map. But, all of those properties were way over our price range again. I started to wonder if maybe the area we wanted to be in was over priced for us so I started to do my own research and found a site online where I could view some homes for sale. There were actually quiet a few homes priced below our budget. After that I had to agree with my husband that we were wasting our time. We eventually found a seasoned Realtor who only showed us three properties before finding our dream home. Unfortunately, I don’t think Shawn has enough experience to find properties for people with very specific needs. I wish I could have recommended him.
