Sun Auto charges 25−40% more than comparable auto shops. I don’t mind paying more for quality; what I dislike is paying for quality and getting subpar service in return. At worst, they’re dishonest and try to sell expensive and unnecessary repairs. At best, they’re incompetent and routinely fail to accurately diagnose and/​or remedy the problem.
In August, my car was intermittently hesitant to start and accelerate, so I brought it to Sun Auto on Tropicana. They told me the problem was a faulty fuel pump and convinced me to buy a higher quality one. That repair was $ 766.41. When I started the car to leave, I noticed it was still cranking longer than usual, but I trusted Sun Auto had properly addressed the problem, so I figured the new fuel pump just had to break in a bit. Over the next week, the car’s performance continued to deteriorate. It drove as if it would die soon. I took it back to Sun Auto the next weekend, and I figured they’d fix it at no additional cost since it was the same issue. I was wrong. This time, they told me it was the fuel regulator: a $ 238.01 repair. I couldn’t help but wonder if the issue was the fuel regulator all along and had nothing to do with the fuel pump.
Now December. My check engine light was coming on and going off every few days, so I had AutoZone diagnose it: an EGR problem. (Sun Auto on Craig failed to fix this three times within the last year, but I’d hoped the Tropicana location would do better). Sun Auto on Tropicana told me it was a vacuum line in the EGR system, it was a simple repair, and they’d fix it at no additional charge while they worked on a few maintenance services they recommended totaling $ 712.74. The check engine light was off when I picked up the car, so I figured the problem was fixed. However, the check engine light came back on the next day (Sunday). Sun Auto was closed, so I went back to AutoZone to have the codes read. The same EGR codes came up. When I told Sun Auto Monday morning, they said, «Well, the vacuum line was definitely part of the problem.» That past Saturday, they’d charged me $ 115 for an engine diagnostic. For that kind of money, I expect expert knowledge and a definitive diagnosis. Instead, it turns out I got speculation. I didn’t bring my car there so they could fix only part of the problem.
My primary grievance is despite their high rates, you just can’t count on them to deliver on the first try every time. When you notice your problem still remains after they’ve serviced your car, they’ll just ask you to bring the car back in another day. If you have to come back due to their error, I think they should offer to refund some of the money you paid to compensate you for your time, but they don’t. I’ve had some positive experiences with Sun Auto over the years, but my recent experiences have convinced me my car would be in better hands elsewhere. I can’t afford to spend weekend after weekend at Sun Auto.

My experience with Sun Auto Service hasnt been 100. Put it to this way ill be there again soon for the same issue for the 3^rd time!

I’ve used Sun Auto for some time now. They’ve taken good care of my truck and today was no exception. Devin took time to show me what was wrong and explained everything in clear, simple language. They also quoted a price that I thought was fair. Another great job, thanks guys! I highly recommend them!!!

WOMEN BEWARE!!! BIG SCAM ARTISTS!!! Brought my car in to change my brake pads and they tried to tell me that I needed a new caliper because it was stuck. They said they couldnt even get my old break pads back on without charging $ 544 for a new caliper since they supposedly couldnt get it out. I was there for 4 hours and FINALLY after telling them to put my old break pads back on going back and forth what do you know… boom my old break pads are back on! Wow amazing right since it supposedly was IMPOSSIBLE to get my old pads back on… So today my husband went to JUST BREAKS and they got my brakes done NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. Caliper is fine! Unbelievable that they would try to take advantage of someone like that, I can’t even imagine the people that go in there do serious problems. STAY AWAY SCAM ARTISTS. Yesterday was such a bad day because of this and it was just a scam I can’t believe someone could do that and sleep at night. I’ve never had anyone try so hard to scam me. I could go on and on but I will end it with this

Worst shop ever… told me tow was free as long as work done there… simple oil relay switch ended up costing over 300 $! Turns out tow only free if more then 2000 $ in work there phone guy had to know it wasn’t going to come close to that… then they call to say it’s ready 202 $ thought bit high but needed it done asap… we get there and they added 100 $ for an oil change… even though just had it changed 7 days prior… Worst mechanic experience of my life!

Great service! Didn’t try to charge me extra for unnecessary procedures or testing like mechanics are known for. I will definitely be coming back here.

Sun auto is the best case service shop in town. I always take my vehicles to them for repairs. The staff is friendly and they explain things so I can understand what is going on. I’ve been going to them for years, I will always take my card to them and recommend them to friend and family.

I actually had my service done back in June of 2015 and now that I need service again, I am reminded that I wanted to review this shop on Unilocal.The guys who got my car signed in and listened to my description of what was wrong were not only FUNNY but also the picture of customer service and professionalism. They took care of my car and in fact returned it a day sooner than I expected. They were knowledgeable and professional, which is what I look for at any business that I patronize.(I would mention their names but they asked me not to)
Their price was fair and I did not feel that they were trying to push me into paying for things that I did not need. They simply advised me of a few items that I may want to give attention to in the future. The shop itself is clean and well cared for, unlike some I have visited during my 25 years here in the Valley. I would recommend Sun Auto to friends, family and anyone else with an automotive issue that needs resolving.

CarMax told me this was the only place for my warranty, Not True! Sun Auto wasted two full days of my time only to finally tell me I had to take it to the dealer. Wasted 200 dollars in cab fare back and forth 3 times. Sun Auto never returned my calls when they said they would. Total waste of my time, the dealership handled everything right away got me a rental and yes they do honor my warranty

EXCELLENT SERVICE! A++ Thank you guys for your HONESTY. Came in with estimate of $ 280 to fix my non working radiator fan motor. Came out of the shop with a total bill of ONLY $ 14.
After trying to fix my overheating car problem myself at home replacing relays and fan control modules myself and fan still not working I finally decided to go to Sun Auto Service Tropicana. After they did the free diagnostics they found out that it’s a blown Mega Fuse problem not the fan motor and I payed $ 14 yayyyy!!!

I’m glad I went here to Sun Auto Service in Tropicana. Devon is very professional and knows his stuff. I will definitely come back here if I have any problem with my car in the future. The only car mechanics in Vegas I can trust. Highly recommended.

Excellent customer service and amazing techs! Definitely recommend! The front gentleman explained everything thorough and was reasonable priced.

These guys are great. I went to them with an old foreign expensive to repair car and they were honest, did not up sell me, and only fixed what needed to be fixed.
The second time I came to this guys, my wife’s car had brake problems. They were fast and fair priced, again. I came in about 1 hour before they closed on a Saturday to have them inspect some brake noise that another mechanic missed. They were able to get my problem all taken care of and have me back on the road within an hour.
From a tyre and oil change to yearly inspections and everything in between, these guys are great, clean garage in Las Vegas — not dodgy at all. The prices are actually quite low — I paid half to replace an original Audi tyre than I would at the dealer. Go to Sun Auto, ditch the dealer!
Even after I moved from the neighborhood I still continue to bring my car there because they have always been informative, fairly priced, and trust worthy. Everyone there is nice and each time I got my car back the same day. Would definitely recommend these guys.

I’ve lived in Vegas for three years now and I have never gone anywhere else to get my oil changed! I find the mechanics to be honest, helpful and affordable! They work quickly and are incredibly accommodating if you require work that will take a few hours, they’ll even keep it overnight if that is convenient for you! I love that they are discrete with pricing, thorough in explaining financing, and friendly to even the most difficult customers. Don’t go anywhere else!

Went in for an oil change, We been a customer since we’ve been in Las Vegas for two years. Just found out they were charging double for parts. They told me I needed a transmission mount replaced, promised the best price in Las Vegas. They offered the transmission mount for $ 233.11. That same day I called the Honda dealership and they offered the exact same piece for $ 113.46. Not to mention labor was was $ 20 more at Sons auto as well. Devon was the employee that lied and told me he called Honda and priced the part at Honda and that it was the lowest price he could find it at. After I came in to show them the difference in price Shawn told me he would call me the following day when Devin came in and I am still waiting two weeks later for that call. The customer service is horrible. Rick was another employee who said he found one at $ 360. They will look you in the eye and lie and it’s said .
People beware price out any part before you pay for repairs. I went and looked for my air conditioning repair receipt and I was overcharged for the parts there as well. They will continue to overcharge because no one is doing anything, if you can avoid them, please do. I usually try to avoid the dealership due to extreme prices. I will be avoiding them as well!

I had an incident on the road taking the curved ramp between I-​15 North getting on to 215 West where I lost control of my car and i spun out into the rocks. Amazingly the car was still drivable, but I brought it into these guys to get it check out just in case. Devin was super helpful and polite. He kept in contact with me through the whole process and was honest about what caused him concern and what was going to be fine. He also gave me a great deal on the only thing that did snap, the OTC sensor cable I believe? These guys gave me the peace of mind I needed in this situation, and I will definitely be returning for all my auto needs!

The staff here is amazing. Very professional and helpful. I recommend Sun Auto to everyone.

I took my new Camaro to the Sun auto on Tropicana because I’ve always gone to the one on Washington and they did as good of a job as the Sun auto on Washington.

I went there for an oil change… There are many places in the area that do an oil change, but they quoted the best price, and shortest wait time… I was told it’d be an hour and a half. I walked to the bar across the street to the PT’s.
After 2 hours I went back considering someone who came in after me at PT’s told me they were told it’d take just as long at a different business, was called and done before me, then they told me it’d be another 30 – 45 mins… After 4 hours I finally left.
They had a Unilocal check in special, that would save me $ 5.00… But they couldn’t figure it out so they gave me a coupon for a free oil change for my next time… Which was better.
The only up sell they offered was that I needed a new air filter… The price quoted $ 17.98 also covered topping off all the fluids.
The service I got was great. It was nice that they were honest. Now my car is running much better.
