UYE-Steppin Out: Sushi, Sashimi, Sapporo, Sake, and Shochu!!!

It’s been over a week since this UYE took place, but I still remember the awesome food, the great service, my fun dining partners, cool Star Wars chopsticks, the priceless relationship advice and the mysterious cricket that all came with this UYE. Nelson, great job and thank you for setting this up for all 20 of us!
Goyemon was the perfect location for this UYE. We were seated in their private dining room, which was intimate and cozy. The servers were fantastic and had few hiccups servicing all of us. The food was great. My favorites were the grilled veggies and the melt-​in-​your-​mouth (literally) pork belly. We ordered seconds and thirds and even fourths on both items. I also enjoyed the desserts. Unlike other AYCE places, you can have more than one dessert, so I ordered one of each of their speciality desserts (Green Tea Crème Brulee, Green Tea Cake, & Tofu Cheesecake) and a Strawberry Mochi Ice Cream. Of course I shared all these sweets because I couldn’t finish it all by myself!
Towards the end of the meal while the servers were preparing our individual checks with ease, a cricket’s chirping could be heard in the room. We searched everywhere, but, alas, the cricket was nowhere to be found. It must have been a ninja cricket…
Another thing to mention, the bathroom is quite nice. It’s clean and tranquil even with the samurai sword on display.
Bowling afterwards was a great time as well! My first UYE courtesy of Nelson, and I must say 5 stars doesn’t do this event justice!

There’s not much to say that I haven’t said on their business profile (fresh food, great sushi chefs, attentive staff) about how much I already liked this place.
Basically wanted to say that this is definitely proof that these are some of the hardest working chefs in town!
They handled a 25top group like us, filled sushi bar, several tables including other large parties like a 6top with no problem. Sure some of our orders were staggered, but they didn’t forget about us and brought everything in fair pace and they do not get sloppy with the orders to push them out. The customer service from the staff with drinks and checking on us didn’t slack either.
Handled like a boss.

We stepped out and filled up at Goyemon! Kudos to Nelson for another delicious, entertaining and smooth-​running Unofficial Unilocal Event. I was definitely impressed by his extra effort to get the big private room saved for us at Goyemon. It was the perfect size for our party of 20!
Honestly, I rarely get truly full at an all you can eat sushi spot because there is only so much fish that I enjoy. However, at Goyemon there were plenty of non-​fish options that were truly scrumptious, even if they were simple. I had at least 5 orders of the grilled vegetables, and the yakisoba, although perhaps a bit overseasoned, was definitely an exciting take on noodles.
Of course, the food pales in comparison to the company! We had a good time chasing a «cricket» around the table, lecturing people on their dating lives and in general just being a big, happy Unilocal family. And, we were able to have separate checks without a hassle. This is always a key component to a successful UYE. So again, good job Nelson! I look forward to the next installation of the «Steppin Out» series.

What a great experience. For as packed as the place was. There were very few hiccups. The ngiri and rolls came out fresh as can be. Good food and Good People. My drink never got to the south end of the levy which is a big plus for me, as i always need something to drink when im chowing down. I will so be back in the near future.

Pretty much what Nelson said, plus the following:
Grilled Vegetables was a big hit, enjoyed the Fried Calamarie, personally loved or enjoyed all the daily special (not so much the White Clam). Desserts were mostly large enough to share, which is highly recommended, so you can try more items.
Surprise room entertainment provided by the ventriloquist or cricket (s) or both.
Looking forward to next month’s event at Goyemon.

I went up to the bar to thank Fredo, Jun, and Hiro and the rest of the Goyemon staff for hosting us, as they also were thankful in return that we chose to dine with them.
It was nice to also have met Cathy, Demitri, Mary Rose, their guests, and the +2 ladies that were guests of «Big Pimpin’, Chopsaberin’ Paolo D.

We all filled the Tatami Room, and right away, the front of the house sprung into action, taking drink orders and splitting checks, never skipping a beat.
Family style is the way to order when having a big party as we had, so we started off with some side dishes, nigiri, and threw in a couple of rolls.
Allan also ordered another cool, smart way-«number 1 through 27, AKA

Hawaiian Bigeye Tuna
House Smoked Salmon
Japanese Snapper
Bluefin Tuna
White Clam
Toro (Just Like BUTTA!!!)
All night, I watched as Fredo, Jun and Hiro turned out order after order
not only accommodating us, but a packed bar, and a packed dining room which also had big parties and some tables were even turned twice
during our 3-​hour dining session.
In appreciation, I sent the guys a pitcher of Sapporo for a little pick-​me-​up after being in the weeds during crunch time. Wait… Sapporo+Sharp Knives=…Nah, They’re pros!
We had at least 75% of Goyemons entire menu offerings, and even a few brave Unilocalers attacked The Sushi-​Monster (or is it the Goye-​Monster?)
The biggest roll on the menu, and there definitely were a few crack (bacon) addicts for sure!
The dessert selections added a sweet end to a great evening…
Despite the wait times in between our orders (which was to be expected)
it was filled conversation, laughs, and giggles– and the other half of the table not recieving some of their rolls, I ordered just enough family style, so that we could pass around the entire room. Overall, a stellar performance from the sushi chefs and waitstaff. I think we got a few Goyemon fans out of it as well! WOOOHOOOOO!!!
