JS Construction

We hired Justin and his team last year to remove a slider from our family room and fill in the wall at our house. We did a great deal of research to find the right person and luckily my boyfriend found JS Construction here on Unilocal.
This team was great! Justin was extremely personable and thorough with us through the entire process, checking in and keeping us updated. He was not only a great find from a construction standpoint, but he has a great eye for design and detail. The interior and exterior work was flawless to the point you cannot detect at all that there was ever that ugly oddly-​placed slider there. His stucco team was incredible and perfectly matched the flair and style of the original stucco. They also set us for when we finally get a bigger TV and mount it on the wall by raising the outlets and running smurf tubing so we won’t have hanging cables, and retextured the walls in the room, again to fit the look of the home. They even let me take the first swing at demo (I have to admit that was pretty awesome!) The family room is a 1970s addition to a 1940s house and they made it finally feel like it fit the character of the rest of the house. We are ecstatic with the results!!!
We have spent the months since the work was completed recommending Justin and his team to everyone we know that mentions doing any type of construction on their home. And Justin will be the first one we call when we are ready for the next phase of remodel/​restoration on our home.

We had Justin cut a «pass-​thru» into an existing wall, between our kitchen and living room. Framing, sheetrock, and tile. VERY well done, punctual, attention to detail, clean. ALL first rate. Very happy with his work AND the guys that work for him (Justin, Justin, and Justin — go figure, LOL). My highest recommendations!

From the initial contact, to job completion, Justin and team knocked it out of the park. Their pricing is competitive, their attention to detail is refreshing (I’ve dealt with many a contractor in the past that I had little to no attention to detail) and their professionalism while in my home was comforting!
My job was small — 5 rooms with crown moulding, but they never made me feel that mine was any less important than one of their largest jobs.
They accomodated the HOA restrictions on start and stop times and stayed until I was satisfied with the job.
Communication days before the job was top notch. I never felt like I was going to get any unwelcome surprises.

Justin and his team are amazing! We had them complete our kitchen remodel and couldn’t be happier. Everyone was friendly and professional. Our refinished cabinets look beautiful (everyone thinks they are new cabinets – not refinished ones), as do the laminate floors.
The team stayed on-​track with pricing and time-​frame and they were always dependable. Also worth mentioning… they were SO clean! When you’re living in a home that is being remodeled, this is a big deal! I’d hire JS Construction again, without a doubt.

This company is the epitome of a rip-​off contractor. Not one thing that was contracted for was done with any skill. The other reviewers must be friends of the contractor or paid by the contractor. This company turned every part of the job into a disaster. They contracted to do a new granite countertop that needs to be replaced. They painted the inside of the house without any prep work and the thinnest one coat of paint they could apply. They got overspray everywhere and even on my garage door. They installed a slider with a screen door that did not fit and blamed the manufacturer. They also failed to provide the correct catch for the door and re– installed the alarm incorrectly. Beware Beware Beware. They promise everything and provide nothing.

Just had baseboards and transitstion strips put in they did a AMAZING job! Great price and even better work!!! Will be having them back out soon to paint for me! Great guys did great work!

I called Justin after reading reviews here on Unilocal and we are glad we did. We originally had Justin in to give us an estimate on a complete bathroom remodel — he had great ideas and gave us a fair price. We ended up scaling back the project significantly and Justin was very accomodating. The work was very well done and bathroom ended up looking great. We would use him again in a heartbeat.

When a company has ALL outstanding reviews, it sometimes can feel suspect. Let me tell you that you are not the first. I am sailing in the same boat as you :)
I was purchasing a new home & I needed a wall between 2 rooms to be removed to make the 2 rooms into one huge 2^nd master bedroom. There was different wall paper on the walls which means painting /​texturing was on the cards & the room was carpeted.
I searched Unilocal & Craigslist & invited 8 different Contractors to come give me a bid. Everyone up ahead was told I had a short window of time from close of escrow to my move in & I needed it done in that time frame. As usual, everyone said YEAH — No Problem.
One of the 8 invited was JS Construction thanks to all the positive Unilocal reviews. The time to arrive for the initial estimate was 10am. 1^st time around a young lady came by & she was 5 mins early (what a refreshing change). Every other contractor was anywhere from 15 mins to 3 hrs late. She took notes, took pictures, re-​confirmed what I was trying to get done & took measurements & left.
3 days later & I heard nothing back from JS about a bid. I called & the same lady answered & said please give them another 24 – 48 hrs. This was the ONLY slowness /​minor ding /​quarter star deduct. I do get an e-​mail in the window & the quote given was not the cheapest but same time was not the highest. To give you an idea, I got quotes ranging from $ 3350 (low baller), $ 3900 cluster of quotes, JS was at 4200 & some as high as 5500.
So what do I do, go to Mr $ 3350 & sign him up, give him the dates & set everything up. Fast forward a week later & I call Mr $ 3350 to confirm time & that everythings on schedule & he has taken up a bigger school job & can now not do my work. Imagine the soup I was in. In my mind I was going to spend XYZ & get my work done on time.
I then called everyone else I know including JS. Justin was the quickest, most efficient & respectful of them all. He oozed confidence, knew what he was talking about & assured me that what I want will be done. He did give me a little break on the pricing which made me happy all the way around.
Justin & his entire crew showed up 5 mins early again the 1^st day the work had to be started & boy did they do a great job & did it on time. I just could not ask for more. There were going to be a couple of challenges with the carpeting & that too was done splendidly. I cannot express how happy I am.
I am a real person with a real job done. I VOTE for Justin for President :)

You must call Justin if you need anything done for your home. Justin is professional, always on time and he delivers. He listens to understand what you want and need, and he will collaborate with you on the solution. Best of all, he is honest with his quotes and suggests ways to get the most for what you can afford.
Justin got us our beatiful granite countertop and sink and installed our fancy pullout faucet, disposer with countertop push button controls, in counter soap dispensers and dishwasher.
He did a wonderful job and delivered quickly that we also had him do our microwave/​vent/​hood. As with the countertop he got the job done quickly and perfectly.
We are on a very tight budget, but with Justin’s help our «got it from a foreclosure auction» home looks grand!

hello, for those of you considering using Justin and his company I wanted to take a moment to talk to you about how wonderful our experience was and that I highly recommend JS Construction for any of your construction needs.
My wife and I purchased a home in Livermore California. The home was a foreclosure property and required much repair. My wife and I decided exactly what the property needed at least to address the more comfort appropriate features we desired. As part of Our home purchase purchase we utilized the federal housing authority’s 203K loan process which allowed us to finance the improvements to the property prior to move-​in. During this process we consulted several contractors and placed the work up for bid. Our first bidder came to our property and it was clear right away that we were not impressed so we continued our search And asked our mortgage broker who they felt should bid on the job. JS construction was recommended highly by our mortgage broker, when Justin came on-​site and assessed the work he was professional, polished and ready to answer questions as well as be very creative as we both explored the possibilities for our construction efforts. during the construction doesn’t based many different challenges but overcame each with grace and understanding with the final goal of delivering a quality experience for both my wife and myself. My husband and I recently hired Justin to install crown moulding in our home. Justin was extremely helpful when it came to helping us choose the crown moulding and base boards for our home. Right from the start, I felt very comfortable with Justin and loved his ideas.
Justin was on time and worked hard while he was here. He did an excellent job and I’d hire him for future projects in my home. If you’re picky about things being done right — then you’ll be happy with Justin’s work. It’s obvious he pays close attention to detail. One really important thing about Justin (aside from doing a great job) is that he’s trustworthy. I felt very safe having Justin in my home. I never worried about him being in my home even when I was in another part of the house.

My fiancé (boyfriend at the time) had the pleasure of working with Justin a little over 2 years ago when we bought our first home. Our house was not a fixer upper, but it literally sat on the market for over 2 years before we made the offer. So of course, there were a lot of little things here and there that needed to be fixed that my fiancé just didn’t have time to do at the time.
We decided to find a local, small contractor to help out with some minor details in the house. Justin helped get us through those details and helped SMOOTH (literally he smoothed down a door or two) out the kinks in our home.
He was very professional and got the job done right the first time and in a timely fashion.
I even toyed around the idea with Justin of making me a one of a kind Wine Rack and I could just see his mind working and imagining something amazing. Weeks after he worked for us, I got a phone call from him with ideas about the wine rack. I still have yet to have him make it is not a big priority yet, but when the time is right, I know the right guy to call.

Recently needed to add stair rails and banisters at my folks’ house in Modesto. Justin was responsive and prompt and thoroughly competent. He had some great ideas for the best way to accomplish the work, and offered several alternatives. His prices were fair and inclusive — we appreciated that there were no surprises at the end of the job.
On job day, Justin and his crew arrived right on time, and they did an absolutely wonderful job. The craftsmanship is excellent, and we are so happy with the results! After the work was completed, they left everything tidy and sparkling. The work was completed on time, as promised.
