Heyser Cycle Center

This review is pertaining to the SERVICE DEPT. since that is the only dept. I dealt with during my first and only experience with Heyser Cycle.
I initially called to have a part ordered for my bike. I was told it should be in no more than 5 days and they would call me when it arrived so I can bring my bike in for the repair. Never received a call after five days and when I called them they claimed it showed delivered but they couldn’t find the part. After waiting a few more days they either found it or they re-​ordered it (they never clarified when I asked) and I dropped my bike off. I was told it was a 2 – 3 labor job and should be done within a couple of days. Long story short, not once did I receive a phone call to update me on the status and each time I called I was promised it would be by a certain date only to find out work hadn’t even begun on it after almost a week in the shop! To sum it up without going into too much excessive detail it took 15 days (not including the time it took for them to actually find the part!) for me to have my bike returned to me for a 3 hour labor job. Manager was completely indifferent when I explained my frustration both over the phone and when I picked it up in person. Not a good experience.

Had my recall performed here. I set a appointment and was in and out in an hour. They even replace a few screws that had vibrated loose.

We were in the market for two scooters and called Atlantic Cycle in White Plains and was told they could help us as we wanted specific scooters. After driving there they tried to sell us what they had in their inventory but we weren’t interested. We asked if we could order the scooters and Paul said he couldn’t help us… he only makes like a 100 dollars. He gave us the number to Heyser Cycle in Laurel and said they had what we wanted. Thanks Paul.
We drove to Heyser Cycle and the entire staff was very helpful and quickly got us what we wanted. I highly recommend them.

Great customer service from the front door. Dan was great! They have a very large selection and they educate you to the fullest. Not a lot of words for this place they are AWESOME! 5 stars for Dan. We purchased a helmet! Yayy!

I’ve deliberated whether or not I’d post my experiences with Heyser on here, because although there was a HUGE screw-​up that became extremely frustrating at the time, the staff were very quick to own up to those mistakes and attempt to compensate me for it, in whatever way possible. Having said that, I would recommend Heyser to others BUT I feel inclined to at least let other potential customers know what to be weary of beforehand, so they don’t go through the same headache I did.
Last year I dropped off my bike, a Ninja 300, at Heyser to get several recalls fixed under Kawasaki’s warranty. Bear in mind the fact that this was a brand new model on the market, so there were a LOT of 300 owners doing the same recalls at the same time. I was told by Heyser staff that getting the back-​ordered parts in stock and replaced would take 4 – 6 weeks. Unfortunate, but nothing I could do.
Six weeks pass. I called Heyser and was told that the parts were still back-​ordered. «Okay… please let me know when they’ve come in.» Again, unfortunate — but if the parts were back-​ordered, what could I (or Heyser) do?
Another two weeks pass. I call Heyser again. Still back-​ordered. I call around other shops to inquire what the status of their repairs are, and find out that they had all their recalls done and out the door within THREE weeks of initially being brought in.
I’m pissed. I call Kawasaki and ask why Heyser’s parts still haven’t gotten to them, only to find out that Heyser NEVER put in the order for them. «…wut.»
Long story short, a Kawasaki rep actually gets in touch with Heyser FOR me, and finds out that Heyser’s ordering system (supposedly) made it appear to Heyser staff that the parts had been ordered — but the order never went through to Kawasaki’s systems, and Heyser staff assumed that the lack of response meant they were still back-​ordered.
So, Kawasaki fixed Heyser’s mistake (without me even asking) by overnighting the parts to them, and sending me a few (REALLY cool) gifts as an apology. For this, Kawasaki has my praise. Heyser got the parts and immediately had my bike ready for me by the end of the next day, and gave me a substantial discount on future purchases (Kawasaki covered the cost of recalls here) as well as an apology from upper management when I arrived.
What made this further frustrating for me was that it delayed the sale of my bike several times, at a time where I could’ve really used the money for the fall semester. And by the time that it was finally fixed, it was the middle of winter — which meant no one was looking for a bike anymore. (The bike didn’t end up being sold until the following spring, and at a reduced price.)
While I’m inclined to believe that Heyser is telling the truth — and that it was a simple electronic error with their systems — it shouldn’t have taken two months for ME and Kawasaki to figure that out FOR them. Management should be constantly reviewing older orders and following up on why they’re still around, and if they had done so within the first three weeks of my bike being there, this never would’ve happened.
Having said all of that, Heyser was quick and willing to own up to their mistakes and figure out a way to help settle this for me. For that, they get a neutral score of three stars. And despite this experience, I actually returned to their store on a few occasions after learning they had new staff. I was greeted by friendly, enthusiastic staff who went out of their way to help customers out and were happy to just chat about bikes in general. So, I’ve added a star on for that.
Since this experience, I’ve heard nothing but positive experiences from friends who also went there, and I even brought my new bike, a CBR600RR, to them to have my tires replaced. They’ve been great, and I think the change in ownership and staff has had a positive impact on their standing with the biking community. I wish them the best, and would recommend them to others… just make sure you stay on their ass about keeping you up to date.

Great customer service and friendly in the service department. The prices are a little bit high all around but they do good work. Sometimes the service dept is a little slow. I had some recall work done that was supposed to take 45 min. It took 2 hours. No biggie to me though. The nice lady in the parts department is a joy to see every time I come in for parts. She rocks.

I took my atv there because I had a blown moter. I paid $ 2800 to get it fixed and it took about 2 months finally I got a call telling me to pick up the bike to day before they close or I will have to pay $ 25 fee for every day I left it their so I pick it up I got home unloaded it from the back of my truck I put the key in it and it took awhile to start but it started but there was no power when I gave it gas. So I pushed in my garage and called them I brought the bike back and the next day they had told me that the moter was blown again I was very confused they wanted another $ 2800 to fix I said no I just picked the bike for the same issue they said it’s not our problem they said call Kawasaki and maybe they will pay for half I called and they said no and heyser would not do anything for so I took the bike to the dump and threw it away it was only 2, years so I paid $ 2800 for nothing I will
never never go back or buy anything from them stay away from this place! I still can’t believe this even happend believe me I tried so hard to have them fix it

The Story: 05 R1 Idle issue, would stall at every stop or pull in of the clutch. Problem? TPS recall? Not sure. The Good: Took my 05 R1 for a factory recall on the TPS module and idle issue, no questions the service department got to my bike fast and turned it around in 1 day free of charge. James, service guy was awesome. Stupid me forgot to bring my helmet back when I came to get the bike and he let me borrow his personal melon cap. The Bad: Unfortunately, this bike is my pride and joy and the shop didn’t treat it like so. Bike went in without a scratch on it and came out looking like the plastics had been thrown around. Not even sure why the plastics were messed with as I was told the tps sensor is under the gas tank /​airbox. Also, the shop called me and said my bike was «fixed». They obviously don’t test ride the bikes as the miles were the same as when it went in and the problem was still not solved. Bike died on the first stop light. –Will not take my bike for service here again. Would not recommend.

Every time I’ve come they’re friendly and helpful. Jesse in service always remembers me and has helped me get my jet ski on the water with short notice one year when I needed it dewinterized before my vacation.

I recently broke down and purchased a generator since we lose power every time the wind blows and I could not be happier with my experience at Heysers. These guys really know their stuff and took the time to educate me and fit me with the right generator. The manager even followed up with me a week later to make sure I was taken care of.
If you want things done right at a fair price, I assure you, you will not be disappointed going here.

Impressed with every facet of the operation here — they gave me a great deal on a V Star without being pushy, the accessories department staff is helpful and knowledgable, and the service department, though I was wary, has done a great job on the simple fixes I’ve needed thus far. It is a little pricey, but there aren’t many options in the area and they’ve done a great job for me. Would definitely recommend at least making a trip.

Service
The service at Heyser Cycle is rated one of my top places to take my bike. Actually, I haven’t taken my bike any other place. They do a quality job and if they feel anything is suspicious about your bike, they will bring it to your attention.
Quality
The quality of there work is wonderful. I have never had to bring my bike back after having it serviced. I take it in, I get a call when it’s ready, and I pick it up. i’ve never had any doubts about this place.

They did pretty good work on my daughters dirt bike. Prices were very high, but they were packed solid so i guess supply and demand are dictating the prices.
I did get both of us helmets at heyser and we did get good help from the young lady that sold them too us.

They sold me last year’s model jetski at this year’s price without telling me and refused to make amends. Unethical crooks! From the salesman (Octane) to the owner/​manager (Scott). I’ll NEVER do business at Heyser’s again.

Qualified Mechanic and good service but the prices are WAY to high. if you can get your own parts do so, these guys are steep

A really long standing and decent bike shop. I have never been ignored or made felt less going in here, these guys really ride. I got my first 50cc dirt bike back in the mid-70’s from my dad from this shop and this place has always done me right ever since. I am now on a 1000cc sport bike and they are still doing me right years later.
