Pretty cool sports bar. Really popular when the weather is to bad for the beach and during big games. Sometimes a bit of a meat market.

watched the steelers game here last week. foodw as awesome, wings were spot on, carb dip was awesome, sweet potato fries were delish. but damn. THISPLACEISDAMNGHETTO. maybe im being overly judgmental, but i dont like feeling uncomfortable at a restaurant, and thats what i felt here… that uneasiness. can’t quite put my finger on it but yea, ill go back for the food. between the hours of 12−4pm. when it’s bright as hell outside.

A Sports Bar is a Sports Bar… TV’s, lots a beer, and huge plates of food… What set it apart for me was the space… lots of room available… The price for the proportions was great… Im a big guy and I took home half my appetizer and main course… The steakhouse burger was OK… The French Onion Soup was Basic… My SoCo and Lime was strong and on point… no frills… nothing to write home about… A Sports Bar… Can’t ask for much more!!!

On a slow Thursday night you can get yourself into some trouble here. Wait a minute… isn’t every night in Laurel a slow night? With $ 1 rail drinks, the magical fun began. Yes, I drank rail. Why? Because I ooze class and sophistication. This Greene Turtle is actually rather spacious, but usually a bit dead in the evenings. I would imagine it picks up a bit on the weekend, but more often than not this would not be a destination spot on the weekend. More like a last resort. That being said, the servers and bartenders(who are often one in the same) are super nice and accommodating. I’ve also ordered the chicken caeser here once and it was suprisingly pretty tasty for bar food. Although it was nothing out of the ordinary, it was solid. There was a DJ spinning as well, although there were probably less than 20 people spread out throughout the restaurant and bar, drinking and watching different sporting events. At some point we started our own spontaneous dance party. Not sure if anyone really noticed. I’m sure that no one cared. With good company, Green Turtle can be a fun option if you are in a super laid back mood. You just have to bring your own fun… or splurge on $ 5 worth of rail liquor.

Greene Turtle in Laurel is a great place to hang with friends, grab a meal, or to watch sports. Late at night, its also a local spot for 20 – 30 somethings. The management is also very committed to the community and hosts a number of fund raisers. A local sports radio show broadcasts from there sometimes as well.

Sports bars are pretty much all the same. The sign of a good sports bar? Cheap beer. The Green Turtle has that. We came on a Friday night. The D.J. music was so loud as we entered, but my group chose to sit at a table in the dining are on the left. The right side is the gaming area and the whole back area is the bar area. It was much easier to talk, plus it’s cool that they have individual TVs at each table so you can tune in to watch the sporting event of your choice. The guys with me chose to watch some car auction program where they supe up vintage cars and sell them for $ 100,000+. It was amusing. The food is good, comfort bar food. Very cheesy chicken quesadillas for $ 6.99. Not a big fan of the mayo-type side; I’ll stick to sour cream and salsa. Quirky Jerky chicken strips. Soaked in The Turtle’s «secret Jamaican marinade». Not a huge portion for a guy. Pretzels con Queso. Loved the hot, salty pretzel sticks, but the tiny cup of queso was bland and nowhere as good as California Tortilla’s. Beer. What is a sports bar without good beer. I went for the Beer of the Month special: Sam Adams Winter Ale. It’s $ 3.25 all day long for the month of January. And a note to Larry G., my friend enjoyed her Long Island also. They claim to have the«best happy hour in town». M-F ½ price appetizers 3 – 6 …$ 1.99 domestic drafts, bottles & rail drinks 3 – 7 If the location was, say Silver Spring, I’d be here all the time.

The Greene Turtle is a nice sports bar with TV’s all over the place. You’re bound to catch a game of your favorite team. In addition, there are other games(arcade, darts, etc.) that’ll keep you and your friends occupied for hours. My friends and I strictly came here for drinks. So many people with a few bartenders — not a good combination. Believe me, people can be animals when it comes to not getting their drinks when wanted.(Princesses, settle down!) I’m not sure how others like their drinks but my trusty Long Island Tea was just as faithful as ever. Would I come back? Probably. But I wanna check out Nellie’s in DC before I do come back.
