Description

Specialties

Teller’s Restaurant opened its doors in 1992 and is an award winning, full-service World Cuisine restaurant located in the heart of downtown Lawrence.

At Teller’s, we deliver a unique dining experience filled with history, an inviting atmosphere and sumptuous foods inspired by worldly cuisine.

Here at 746 Mass St we strive to use the highest quality ingredients, sourced locally, when available. Some of our customer favorites are the newly added old-time favorite Teller’s Mushrooms, stuffed with Italian Sausage and served over gruyère fondue. Our locally sourced Pork Chop from Steve’s Meats in Desoto served over Cheddar Mashed Potatoes with a Madiera Jus and Apple Sauce. A new favorite is our Seared Diver Scallops over crab risotto with grilled broccolini, scallion oil and roasted red pepper purée. We are proud to be serving steaks from Creekstone, a butchery out of Arkansas City, KS.

History

Established in 1992.

In April of 1932, Clyde Barrow (of Bonnie and Clyde), Ralph Fults and Ray Hamilton carved their niche in history. Their first bank robbery occurred in the very building in which Teller’s Restaurant now occupies. The robbery of The First National Bank was the first in a string of robberies carried out by the gang that would be later known as the Bonnie and Clyde Gang.

In 1992, the building was completely renovated and transformed into the unique dining experience known today as Teller’s Restaurant. Teller’s remains the favorite haunt of the university’s many students, faculty, and loyal Lawrencians. Visitors from around the country, and around the world, frequent the restaurant for the delicious world-cuisine food and warm atmosphere. Teller’s has been featured by Midwest Living, Wine Spectator, a host of travel guides, local newspapers, blogs and tweets, and Jayni Carey has featured our chefs in her studio and in the field.
