Lake Travis Zipline Adventures

I’m so late in posting this review, but I just have to say this experience was just awesome! Our guides were very informative and funny! We had family visiting and decided to go in August, since we had never done it before! After the fun day, my now fiancé proposed to me sitting in the hammock outside! It was just perfect. best day, hands down! We hope to be back again!!!

Lake Travis is the best place to go zip lining. I’ve been here twice in three years and both times were great experiences. The guides were professional experience and patient with all of the zip liners whether they were new or regular customers. If you are thinking about trying zip lining I would suggest you try Austin’s Lake Travis Zipline Adventures.

Went to Lake Travis Zipline this past weekend with a friend who was in from out of town. We had both done a zipline in another state and enjoyed it so wanted to do another. Have to say the whole experience with this team was awesome!
Tour left right on time. Took a short boat ride over to where we went on the zip. You go o a total of 5 lines (two short as a sort of training and three long ones). Got us geared up quickly and we were on our way.
Trey and Parker took us out and they were both great. Parker kept us laughing the whole time and Trey kept everyone calm and took some awesome pictures.
Great views of the lake and top of the trees. Honestly feel like you are flying. They take safety seriously so they keep reminding you how to zip and encourage you when you land.
Total tour time was about 3 hours including the trip back. There is a bar at the end, so if you want you can hang out longer and have a drink. It was a bit chilly when we went so we went right back.
Pictures available after the tour, but the guides were also taking pictures on our phones and cameras. Not pushy at all but they had some nice shots too.
They had plenty of water throughout the course to keep you hydrated. One warning. there is a bit of hiking up a pretty steep hill. Well marked and safe, but make sure you can do a bit of walking if you go. Also, there were some folks who came along and didn’t zip but were there to cheer on others.
One small wish. think just one short zip is enough practice. Wish they had four long rides as it goes so quickly. Other than that couldn’t have had a better time.
Want to come back and do a evening zip after dark. Next season for sure!

Had a terrific outing today with LT Zipline adventures. Do NOT miss this place, especially now that the weather is perfect and the lake is beautiful (tons of water).
The guides were fantastic, (Laura and Justin (or Jason. sorry for not remembering his name but he is a senior at UT and a great sport).
I have done zipped a number of times before (mostly in Mexico) and LT Zipline is 1000X’s better. They take safety very seriously and the lines are amazing (I think I got up to about 50 miles per hour on one of them, but they have a great breaking system at the end – seriously easy peasy).
Net net is if you are anywhere near ATX, go to this place, You will NOT be disappointed. Y’all rock, thanks for the ride and PS: please TIP these hard working young people. They are amazing.

The zips were fantastic fun with amazing lake views! I recommend going when it’s not insanely hot out. Much of the trails aren’t shaded and you will be doing some uphill hiking. My favorite part about the whole adventure though, I absolutely loved the guides. They were so charismatic and kept me laughing more than at cap city comedy club!!! I honestly would have felt like I got my moneys worth without doing one single zip line.

Amazing adventure, worth every cent… The double barreled shot gun was the best part for me but that’s where it ends :-(
Luckily for us the lake was not dry so we got a pontoon ride across… Great short hikes in between

Just a few tips: definitely wear comfortable shoes (have to be closed toe shoes) especially if you’re not used to walking and hiking too much. Bring a selfie stick if you have one! If you don’t have a selfie stick? Buy one!!! No need to bring water. They have water point thru out the whole course, all you can drink… cold…water. And ladies, wear sport bras, it helps a lot to keep everything in place as well as not exposing much when all the gears start pulling your shirt down, also, it works out well to keep your phone in ur sport bra and record a video while you go down on the zipline ;). Make sure you bring some cash to tip your Captain. They’re too nice and awesome not to tip them. Last but not least, check out Groupon. They usually have deals on there that can save you at least $ 20.

My Bride and I had a coupon from Group-​on from last May and we had to reschedule due to the massive flooding in the area and tropical storm Bill in the Houston area. LTZA graciously extended our eligibility until November. Isn’t that amazing?
We arrived and went out with about 10 other zippers and our guides were Lizzy and Chris N., who were nothing short of amazing. They made our experience not only safe, but more fun, fun, fun! After a short boat ride, we began the first of 5 zips and by #3, we were all ready to really experience a long zip. — A leap of faith! Wow!
Each zipper is carefully slowed to a stop by a braking system, but you still have the obligation to grab a handhold, or risk going backwards. It’s not complicated, but pay attention to their excellent instruction, or you might get a bit embarrassed when back down the line you go!
There is a bit of hiking and climbing involved, so do your berpies and jumping jacks to get in shape or you will be standing by the trail blowing and trying to get your wind. This is my 1^st zip line, but I can’t imagine the experience being any better than what we received here today. I give this place 5 stars!

At the beginning, I was a little bit hesitant about going here because of the cost of the ticket. Now, I want to go over and over again! Lake Travis Zipline is totally worth it! Plus, the tour guides are really friendly and even one of them speaks Spanish to help with any Spanish speaker!
If you haven’t gone, you are missing one of the most exciting outdoor adventures Austin has to offer!

Well if you live in Texas, this is the closest you’ll get to a fun ziplining experience! We booked for the earliest time on a Saturday and it was perfect because it wasn’t too hot and fun. Our tour guides Sarah and Jessica were just spectacular and funny. They made the experience even more fun and enjoyable. I thought it was pretty pricey for only 5 lines but you can’t be too picky in Texas. The view was incredible while ziplining over Lake Travis and the rush of excitement was great! If you’ve never been then it is worth a shot to hit this place up!
FYI: They did suggest not to bring your phone because it could get lost but honestly, I think it’s pretty safe. Just make sure it’s secure in your pocket. I wish I would of brought my phone so I could take more pictures of the view and with friends. Also, don’t worry about water, they have ice cold water bottles for you at every line to keep you hydrated. Also, their restrooms are nice and clean with toilet paper and water to wash your hands. Therefore, even though its a bit pricey, it was a great experience!

My family and I went zip lining over lake travis last friday and had the best time! I was the only one in our party that had been zipping before and everyone else was pretty scared but, it was on my mother in law’s bucket list and we were determined to make it happen. We arrived early to check in and were greeted and helped right away. We loaded into the van with the rest of the 10:00 group and met our first guide, Dan, who was very personable and eased the tension by cracking some jokes and just making us feel like we were going to have a great day. We made the short trip across the lake by boat and were greeted at the starting point by another guide, Jessica, who was very informative and assisted us in gearing up and ran us through the do’s and don’ts of the day. Both jessica and dan made us laugh through the whole experience and really took it from a good to a fantastic day!
Now, The zip lining… If you have never done this, I really recommend that you do! The views were amazing and the zip lines started out small to get us used to it before heading to the big ones. My family and I had an absolute blast! The trails were beautiful, the lake took our breath away and the zip lining was the best I have ever encountered! We even got to race on the last line to a bar where we enjoyed a beer before heading back to the main office where they had light snacks waiting on us! They even took pictures along the way that we could purchase after we were done! If I could give these guys 6 stars, I would! Do yourself a favor and ZIP ON at Lake Travis Zipline Adventures!

This was a fun adventure that would appeal to both local Austinites and tourists. If you live in Austin, it provides a nice escape from the city, and a beautiful view too.
The company made the entire process very easy and fun. I signed up and signed the waiver online so I was ready to go when I arrived. The gear was laid out and water was in great supply. The guides were super friendly and entertaining… Just as they should be.
I’d definitely recommend this event whether it be for a special occasion, or just to get out of the city for a change. We all need more adventures in our lives.

Anyhoo, I had a blast! It’s Aug and it’s hot, so if you are gonna do it go first thing in AM. Believe me you will thank me. beat the heat! It’s about 5 zips and the last hike up to the final zip is what a member of my zip group affectionately called the «horrible hike» wow. it’s a doozy but you will be grateful once you reach the top. Lake Travis looks sooo pretty. Our guides, Sara & Trey (I hope that’s it) were knowledgable, professional and funny. Will def be back! Maybe be adventurous and do a night zip?

I had so much fun! The view was spectacular, and my group’s tour guides made me laugh a lot. Not only that, they were incredibly patient with us and kept us comfortable throughout the trip.

We had a blast with Jordan and Amanda, zipping over the lake was an amazing scene. My daughter and I would definitely recommend this place for a summer adventure. Kids are free too on weekdays, a great family trip and then you can catch some time on the lake, it’s a great time to be out there!!!

This was a fantastic experience and probably the highlight of our holiday (so far).
If you’re in reasonable shape and you’re not terrified of heights this is an absolute must.
There’s a little hiking involved and on a hot day it can be tough but I managed and I’m far from a fitness freak. The zipping is the reward at the end of the hiking trails. There are five zips all up and they get bigger as you go.
We felt safe at all times and the guides were super friendly and fun.

This was a total blast! Our guides Liz and Jessica rocked the tour, making it fun and training all us noobs with patience. Our group was small (3 couples) and the lake levels were newly very high after weeks of rain. The location was beautiful, especially on the three lines that went over water. We sat for about 30 minutes with our group and guides at the last stop drinking beer and talking like old friends. Had a great time. You won’t be disappointed!

We got a deal off Groupon, so check there first. I’ve never been ziplining; I assumed you would just go down a string through trees and crash into shit like Tarzan. It’s sort of like that — but WAY better.
First, you arrive at their campsite, and there’s already plenty to do. There’s hammocks, disc golf, cornhole, and barbecue pits in the back, which we utilized to the full extent by grilling some skewers and steak before the ziplining. Lake Travis was super windy at the time, so we had to chase our plates and bags as they tumbled across the sand. That really… blew.
We did a pretty bad job allotting our time for the barbecue, as we exceeded our appointment by like 15 minutes, but they didn’t mind at all! In fact, as we were carrying our leftovers to the car, one of the managers even went up to us and offered to let us use their personal refrigerator to keep our food chilled while we were gone. Major props for that.
The whole experience was highlighted by the tour guides! We had Adam and Chris, who took turns explaining some rules and tips before each zip (5 zips total — 300, 300, 1800, 1600, and 2800 feet). They had a great sense of humor, made a point to interact with each person on the tour (we talked Game of Thrones and League of Legends… because we’re Asian) and also had pretty awesome hair. Well, at least Chris did. Dude is the ONLY person I’ve seen in real life that still has a mullet. He was wearing it as a ponytail, tied up with a pink hairband. What a hunk.
The ziplining itself was awesome as well. The views are killer from the last 3 lines, and you’ll be debating whether to just sit and enjoy the exhilaration or to act cool and do the flying squirrel (positioning «trick») as you slide down. At the end, there’s a bar where they sell snacks and beer on a platform overlooking the lake. As an older couple I saw making out could attest to, this is a great idea for a date as well. Definitely wouldn’t hesitate to come here again.

I was brought here on a surprise date. Initially, I was nervous because I’m pretty scared of heights. Luckily, the guide (I don’t remember his name) eased my anxiety and got me very excited! He was genuinely so caring.
If you do not like walking/​hiking, this is not for you. There is LOTS of walking involved, so be sure to keep that in mind, I loved it :)
Also, I went during the summer drought in August 2013. There wasn’t much to Lake Travis, so I definitely would like to make a second trip when the water-​level isn’t so low. It was still very beautiful.

I couldn’t give my experience at Lake Travis Zipline adventures anything less than perfect.
I came in a group of 12 and we all had purchased our packages from Living Social at a discounted rate. There was no problem making our reservation over the phone. All that was needed by the person making the reservation was our Living Social voucher numbers. Once that’s done, we have the option to sign the liability waiver online; or, if you forget to do it online, you can do it on site.
Fast forward to our tour date. We had made an 11 am reservation, but due to the large number of people in our group and people taking a while getting ready, we didn’t get there until about 11:15 am. No problem with them. They pushed our reservation time to 11:30 am. One person in our group also wasn’t able to make it. No problem with that either. The lady who helped us check in asked what the voucher number was to make sure that the person who didn’t make it could still use her voucher in the future up to the expiration date. Awesome!
Check in process was painless. Well, kind of painless. They do make you get on a scale to see how much you weigh. I know some of my girl friends were self-​conscious about doing this. Although the only person who’d see the number on the scale is the check in lady, people were just iffy about it. Don’t worry. This is for your safety. They have to make sure that you don’t weigh over 250 lbs. Shouldn’t be an issue for most people.
We got assigned two tour guides who then took us into a van and drove us to the trek area. First stop is equipment check. They show you how to put on the equipment, what to expect, some safety lecture, blah blah, all the good stuff. This took about 25 – 30 minutes by itself.
We then went to our first zip line. It was a short one. However, before we actually got hooked on to the zip, our tour guides became more serious and gave us more in-​depth safety lecture. After all this was done, then one by one we all got hooked on to the zip and we went zip lining!
The first and the second lines were short because it’s used to get you used to the feeling of zipping down the line and to loosen up because some people get scared, some people get nervous.
Fast forward to our first long line. By this time everybody in our group was having fun. Nobody was nervous anymore. Everybody was thinking about how they could go faster, and how they could do stupid, crazy pose for the camera and what not.
The fourth line should have had the prettiest view. However, the lake was only at about 40% capacity when we went there, so the view was mostly of a dry lake. But it’s all good; the experience was still awesome.
Now the last line is the longest line in Texas. And they have two lines next to each other so two people can go at the same time and race down! FUN!!!
Anyway, once you get to the bottom of the last line, they sell refreshments, chips, drinks, etc. Oh, they also have free bottled water at every line. Remember to hydrate because the whole experience takes about three hours. Also, the longest trek would be between the fourth and the last lines.
Our tour guides were courteous, approachable, funny, and super duper awesome. Unfortunately I can’t remember their names. If I do, I will edit this review so they get the credit they deserve. However, one is a very tall, white guy white a mullet a la Joe Dirt; and the other was a super cute shorter redhead. Shout out to you both!!!
Will I do this again? Hell yeah, I wouldn’t even think twice! If you’re thinking about doing this, don’t hesitate. Don’t worry about being scared of height. By the time you get to the high points, you will be super eager to get on the line. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
