Very displeased with manager’s attitude and lies. $ 66/​pair windshield wiper blades should last more than 4 months, sir, especially on a vehicle kept in a garage. I researched avg lifespan online and it appears this manager doesn’t know his products. Regardless of the age of these blades (5 months btw), the first rain the wipers encountered, they screeched across the windshield loud enough to wake the dead and left behind a blinding wet streak just across the field of view on the driver’s side. Today, the third rain with these blades, I stretched to see over the flood left by the blades and finally stopped by O’Reilly Auto Parts on W Main in Lewisville where I purchased the blades and asked about their poor performance. With my receipt in hand, the manager, who happened to be the one available for the next customer in line (I did not demand a mgr or act out), tells me that the life of a blade is only 4 months and that the dangerous streak of rain I described across my direct field of vision is «normal.» Really? Cheap blades from WalMart have cleared rain away for me for years, clearing the entire glass evenly and allowing me to safely see the road. And pools of rain obstructing my view is normal according to this manager. Wow. I’m not ignorant. I was tricked and paid a high price for a terrible product. It won’t happen again. I won’t be back in that store for anything! Why would anyone pay for a lying manager?!

I’ve always preferred this O’Reilly’s location to my other options close to my neighborhood. Even though they don’t seem to be quite as large nor have as wide a variety, they always have everything I ever need. (Keep in mind, I am about as much a car mechanic as I am a nuclear physicist.) They generally have a lot of staff relative to the size of the store. Read: you rarely stand around waiting for your turn to speak with an employee.
For those of my with my mechanical inclination, they’ll help with recycling oil, batteries, and testing your battery on or off the car. If you do a lot more with your vehicle, they also offer services like loaner tools, resurfacing rotors and drums, and machining services.
But here’s the real reason why I really love the staff at this O’Reilly’s. The guy who helped me on my last visit even held it together pretty well when my 3 year old announced to him that he needed to poop. Ahh… The joyous wonders of shopping with young ones… The clerk snickered, looked up at me, and said, «Kids are straight up, huh?» Find the right halogen lamp for my car’s foglight and not add too much to my already blooming embarrassment and you get props in my book.
On a more serious note, for the mechanically differently-​abled like myself, they can usually provide the basic instructions for minor repairs if you are unsure how to proceed. They’ve always been open to answering whatever questions I had. The folks have helped me in the past by pointing out better methods and effective shortcuts for the minor things I actually can handle myself.
