Clarion Hotel

Great price especially with a AAA discount. All we needed was a clean room for the night and it was. Great room for the price. Nice to not sleep on a crappy mattress either! We’d stay here again.

One of the periodic car shows is what brought me here most recently. A nice, local event that even the hotel patrons attend.
It’s conveniently located, beside of the interstate and it’s fairly close to the Kentucky Horse Park and Keeneland. It’s the next light down from the Marriott and across the street from the Embassy Suites. Clarion is a lot less expensive than the other two hotels though. The big perk is the Unilocal check-​in deal… so, make sure you’re on the Unilocal app and check out those deals.
I’ve only stayed here once, when it was a Holiday Inn, I chaperoned a slumber party. I remember the rooms being clean but a bit dated back then. I’ve attended a banquet here once and my daughter had a formal Cotillion here. Both experiences with the banquet halls were pleasant, nothing that wowed me those.
There was also an indoor basketball court and an indoor pool the last time I was inside of there. Don’t hold me to that though, they may have changed it when they changed the franchise.

This place is very cute on the outside and the room appears to be pleasant. That’s the end of the fantasy. Hard beds. Out $ 100 non smoking room was receiving the cigarette smoke from some other room through out bathroim. We didn’t realize until we used the bathoom late at night. They’d offer to move us but had no other room except a king room. They offered to Desmoke the room and I demanded clean towels but then had to wait for housekeeping to arrive at 8 am to get either. Front desk said she’s the only one here. This place Looks shiny on the outside but it’s rotten inside.

We stayed here on our way back from Missouri when we got stuck in a snow storm a few months ago and wow we were impressed.
The charm of the hotel combined with the snow made me feel like a kid on Christmas morning, it was such a wonderful experience. They had the parking lot plowed as best as they could the next morning.
The hot breakfast is a little hard to find, but it was great. A lot better than we expected. More of a selection than most hotels.
Make sure you go out early for dinner. I’m not sure if it was just the snow closing everything, but everything was either closed or couldn’t make anything because they were about to close at 8 pm.

I was here for a training through work and I am very glad that I did not have to pay for my room! The fridge was on the fritz and froze all of my diet coke!, the shower did not have water pressure and was leaking from the head, the room had a very odd smell, and the bed was very uncomfortable. There was free hot breakfast and a «fun dome», let me tell you, there was nothing fun about that dome. Then to top it all off upon returning to my room to check out during a break during training, my door was open to my room! I don’t know if the cleaning staff had left it open but I had a «do not disturb» sign in the key hole. Luckily
I take all my valuables with me so only clothes were in there.
Bottom line, I would never pay to stay there and I’m glad that I didn’t have to.

Older hotel but not bad for a great price. We has to stay here after reservations at another hotel were canceled. The staff was very helpful and patient as my credit card was unexpectedly canceled. This is a very big hotel with over 200 rooms.
Also there is a restaurant and a sports bar attached to the hotel. The sports bar was very convenient since arriving late with no other restaurants being open.
Like I said, it is an older hotel but they are remodeling it right now. Clean rooms and plenty of parking space. I would stay here again if in the area.

Just stayed for one night after a late flight. Clean room and friendly employees. The shuttle driver was very helpful with all my luggage and car seats.

Older hotel, but clean. Much to be desired for room décor or comfort. «value» hotel for families, which draws interesting clientele. Layout it bizarre, but map provided. Lots of children, everywhere (we are talking every single sports camp in Lexington stays here). Located right off interstate for easy access. Breakfast was comparable to shoney’s buffet (egh). Not sure how this hotel rates a 3+ star on Priceline or travelocity, but it’s a clean 2 star that worked for us in a pinch.

I have been here on a couple occasions and the place seems nice. Haven’t had any issues with staff. Plenty of parking. Easy access to convention areas. Gas station located across the street in car there is anything you would need

We reported both the included phone and Internet service did not work when we arrived Friday June 6^th. We reported again the morning of the 7^th. Now it is night time, and neither work. I am very disappointed when you pay decent money.

This hotel is reasonably priced. We had a standard room with 2 queen beds for me, my husband & 2 teenaged daughters. My daughters enjoyed the indoor «fun dome» which had an indoor pool, basketball/​volleyball court, arcade, hot tub, & sauna. Only registered guests with blue arm bands are allowed in the fun dome.
The beds were comfy, but in the hard side. The room was clean with a coffee pot, hair dryer, & iron & ironing board.
I would recommend this hotel.

Ranks up there with some of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. Hands down worst ever beds. Cold water didn’t work in the bathroom sink. Deferred maintenance everywhere. Mediocre restaurant. Odd sprawling layout in general. Noisy all night long. They do have an indoor pool, we did not use it. There are lots if other hotels in the area, pick any of them.

Stayed here the night of May 5^th, 2013. While I was on the road, my husband called around Lexington and this happened to be the first place he called. The clerk who answered the phone told him that the hotel was quite empty since it was a Sunday night, so my friend and I stopped there for the night… UGH, bad experience. First of all, the entranceway and foyer of the hotel looked great, beautiful staircase with grand chandelier and a clean tile entryway and floor. We checked in and went to the room, it smelled musty (or should I say, like stinky feet), the bathroom was very old and outdated, the paint on the ceilings over the shower was peeling and all fixtures were quite decrepit, not to mention hair on the floor and tub. Furniture and carpet were also very outdated, was afraid to walk on floor even with socks on. The bedding was clean with the exception of the bedskirts, looked quite dingy. Went to bed at 11:00 p.m. and heard the out-​door to the parking lot slamming most of the night. (if the hotel was mostly empty like the clerk said, why would they place us in a room right next to a loud exit doorway???) At 2:30 a.m. the fire alarm went off. Another UGH! I called the front desk and the night clerk didn’t even give me a chance to ask if it was a real or false alarm… rudely stated «yes it is a false alarm someone pulled and it can’t be turned off until the fire department gets here and turns it off!!!» No apology or anything. It finally was shut off after beeping for 20 minutes. In the morning we went for the continental breakfast about which I really can’t complain. While most places have only yogurts, muffins, the waffles you make yourself and cereal, the Restaurant attached to the Clarion served scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and other delicious foods served warm and cold. Unfortunately, this was the best part of the stay after not sleeping at all. My rest was more important after driving 14 hours straight and still having 6 more hours to go after that night. When we checked out, the morning clerk was very pleasant after taking down our complaints. She charged our room and fees to us still, but said she’d have the manager call us with any corrections or refunds. About 1 hour after getting on the road, the manager called, listened to the complaints and refunded 100% of the fees. She also told me that 50 rooms have already been remodeled and a renovation was in process, to please not let that one night change my mind about staying at Clarion Hotels. Just wonder why if 50 of the rooms had already been remodeled and the hotel was basically empty, why were we placed in an old room, right next to an exit way? Still baffled about that one. I’m giving it a two star — one for the shape the place was in, and the second one for the great care we received from the morning clerk and manager thereafter. Sorry, but even though we received a refund, I do not think we’ll be staying at a Clarion again, especially with all the other great and much better hotels available to us off of I-​75!!!: (

Worth the money for an overnight stop. They allow dogs for a $ 35 fee. Lots of pillows on the beds. Breakfast was included-​a few hot items including a great oatmeal.

Our group attended the New Years Eve party. From the first communications for reservations (with Melissa) to the wait staff, and check out, the complete stay was great! Everyone was so helpful and professional. Hotel was very comfortable and clean, and the location is perfect. Look forward to staying there again.

WOW, don’t need fancy when you have this hotel. This is the place other hotels should be held to! Friendly staff, clean rooms and hotel, pool and game room were amazing. We were only going to stay on our way through Lexington going down to NC, decided to stay there on our way back.

This hotel is dirty, old, and disgusting. Do not even think about staying here. I feel gross even talking about it.

Not a 2.5 star hotel like some sites would say (Priceline, Travelocity, etc). It is older. The internet wouldn’t work. The bar was dingy and not very inviting. I’d put this on the same level as a Motel 6 type place. Would not recommend.

There was nothing fancy about this hotel, but it was a great find.
Rooms are fairly standard — nothing overwhelmingly great about them — but they were clean and comfortable — and roomy enough that we didn’t have a problem finding a place for the pack and play to set up for my toddler.
Free breakfast was above average as far as free breakfasts go — biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, cold cereal, fruit, oatmeal, french toast, etc…
Activity area was wonderful — reasonable fitness center, huge pool area, nice arcade area and basketball court.
All said and done, a great value and a good place for families.

This is a nice, affordable place to take the kids for a get-​a-​way weekend with a little fun.
It’s not swank. It’s not even kitchy. It’s clean and the staff is polite but don’t go here to be treated like King for a day. It’s a functional hotel/​convention center with a giant metal building attached housing a pool, games, basketball court, shuffle board and I’m sure something else I’m forgetting.
Here’s why I gave it four stars: It’s gave my kids a nice weekend away without costing me too much. For the room, the pool, other entertainment and some pretty darn good room service I walked out the door with a bill of $ 202.
The only downside is that we went in early March on a Saturday night and the rest of Kentucky had the same idea as us: the ‘fundome’ was packed with kids. So many that my somewhat picky girls throw in the towel and called it a day. But that’s not the hotel’s fault. There was a slight issue with the arcade being out of tokens and we had to wait for towels but nothing serious.
All of that would have earned it three stars but about 10:30 hunger hit the girls and since this was a special weekend for my oldest who decided it was time to try room service for the first time I ordered up a couple of meals.
And they were very good — not just stuff left over from the dinner service. Really good pasta, giant fried mushrooms and meat chicken wings. This was a complete surprise.
