Midas

I’ve been getting my oil changed here for a few years. The last couple of times their new manager (Scott, I think) was very nice. But, this last time I came in merely for an oil change and a check over before a cross-​country trip. Most of the visit was fine, the manager even drove me to a hair appointment while I waited. Unfortunately, the simple oil change and check over became an overnight stay because they broke a part. No big deal, but the manager acted like he was doing me a favor the next day by taking such good care of my car by «going ahead and changing my oil,» which was strange because they should have already done that, plus I payed for it. Now, my car is leaking oil like crazy, literally dripping as I go. And I’m 2,000 miles from home. Plus, the manager wants to discuss his bizarre political views while you wait. Almost like he assumes that you hold the same views. Very unprofessional, considering that politics is such a touchy subject. Plus, I think he might be a pathological liar because he started telling me stories about having lunch with Warren Buffet and loosing over 180 lbs in a month after he quit drinking soda. It was very bizarre. I won’t be returning.

Had a blowout on Southland drive, so limped into the Southland Drive Midas for help. The manager, Scott, was very helpful. He quoted me a very good price on a set of 80K Yokahama tires (I’m checking the competition now and have so far not found a better price). Most notable was when he found out I’m unemployed, he refused to take my money to put the spare on (even though I told him I needed to shop for the best tire deal, before deciding).
That’s «old-​style» service and character (that wasn’t dependent on making a sale), as well as confidence in offering the best deal. Recommend.

Went in for a simple oil change and tire rotation on a 2014 Buick Encore…
I’ve now been here for over 2 hours. Tires were not rotated when I first left, nor filled as per the tire pressure gauge on my vehicle. Brought it back and have spent another 45 minutes here. Not sure why these things weren’t done the first time. Considering my car was in the back for 75 minutes. And the synthetic oil change with rotation cost me $ 80…
The gentleman running the front desk was very nice, and did give me a free oil change. But still thought people should know what’s going on in the back.
If you do come here, I’d recommend you do it on a day you have nothing else to do, and mark your tires, keep them honest!

I took my car there based on a Livingsocial coupon. The coupon was $ 20 for an oil change, tire rotation, and free 71 point inspection. At the end of the service, the mechanics came out with a $ 1500 for services that needed to be performed. Everything on the list was exaggerated. For example, they quoted me at $ 459.99 for a universal catalytic converter without labor (labor was another $ 160). I then called Autozone, and they sell a universal catalytic converter with an O2 sensor for $ 169.99. Upon calling Midas back, the mechanic told me, «We have to make some money on the pot too.» I am sure Autozone makes money too on parts, but not the almost 400% markup Midas does. Avoid at all costs.
