SUNPOWER by Hooked On Solar specializes in residential solar electric systems. We are a Master SUNPOWER dealer with A+ BBB rating. With a class B licenses which covers all aspects of construction — not like most companies which have a C-10 license, which covers only electrical installations.

We take you through all phases from evaluation, design, engineering, planning, permitting, installation and interconnection to your electric company. SUNPOWER by Hooked on Solar does all the paper work, necessary for the incentives and rebates leaving you worry free!

We had hen come to the house after a client of my wife‘s said they had purchased their solar from them. So I contacted them and gave them all our information for power we had used in the last year. So when the person showed up he had a great folder made just for us. So we talked about where I would like to have it installed. So we sat down and talked about it. He said we should complete it soon as not to lose out on PG&Es next rate hike. I told him that I didn’t make decision’s that fast. After I went over their nice little folder just made for us I never found the figures that I gave him of what we had used the last year. He showed us using a lot of power in December at least twice as much. So I called him on his cell and asked him if I missed something, I had to leave a message because he never answered. Because he said we would save from month one. But from the figures he used and the actual figures I gave him we would not have saved for at least two years. So don’t get caught up on what the say. I believe you should buy no t lease as they just want the money up front. Plus there is little maintenance so they do nothing to get all your rebates. Oh by the way he never called me back never heard from them again! So that should tell you something!

Hooked on Solar (Courtney) contacted me immediately after my review to correct any problems and to compensate me for my time loss. Courtney called me and made sure we could come to an agreement. These guys made going solar incredibly easy. I wanted to own my system, not lease, and they had no interest financing for the 30% federal tax credit portion and 2.99% 12 yr for the rest. The Sunpower panel are a premium panel with very high watts/sq ft which was important given the limited amount of south facing roof we have. Their rep, Lauren, was very easy to work with and kept me up to date on the process. I’d highly recommend them.

I really want to install SunPower panels on my roof, and still intend to, but Hooked On Solar has been incredibly unprofessional with me, and I’ll be looking for another installer. I scheduled an appointment and was home at the specified time and they never showed up and never called to let me know they weren’t coming or to reschedule.
Then I called back to see what happened and to try to reschedule and they promised that they would have the person that missed the meeting call me back immediately (that day) and prioritize getting out to our house. I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised when the call never came from him or the office. Time to try to find another installer.

I interviewed and received quotes from 4 solar contractors before going with SunPower by Hooked On Solar for my solar system. They had the best quality and prices by far. Nicole Barenchi had the most experience and least amount of pressure than any of the other sales representatives hands down. It’s been a year since my system was installed and I’ve been very happy with it. AND really love the fact that PG&E is not getting my hard earned money any more.

It was a smooth and easy transaction and installation! Justin Orban, solar consultant in Auburn, was professional, informative, and friendly. Justin has a calm demeanor, and helped us through our anxiety and concerns of moving forward towards solar energy usage for our home. After thorough research with other solar companies, working with Justin, and understanding the prevailing technology and research of USA made solar cells of Sunpower, we just had to move forward.
Everything from start to finish was very easy and without hassle. We did absolutely nothing and they did all the work… it was as always, professional, courteous, and very clean (transaction, service, and installation)! All the steps to getting our solar installed was described in detail. The engineers during the installation were very organized, efficient, and courteous. Once our solar was installed, the savings were immediate, even during the cold and cloudy days of winter. Our bills during the summer with AC on ²⁴⁄₇ is $ 0.00!!! Normally, our bills during the summer months are over $ 600. Our solar was installed in January of 2015. We have no regrets!

My name is Steve Hehner and I am a resident of Placer County. I am a real stickler for what kind of product and service a company and its personal can offer me. Working with Hooked on Solar has been the best experience I have had with a company and its product in 25 years. I must mention a few names that top the list in my mind; Lauren Zuegel in sales and customer service, Juan Ochoa the installation foreman, Joseph Aragon, installation foreman and their crew. The absolute attention to detail, communication skills, and extremely personal service that I was given and still am receiving during the custom designing and installation of our solar unit, has, to say the least, been amazing.
I spent 3 years researching solar, the materials used to construct
the units and the quality and durability. Hooked on Solar and the individuals who have been mentioned have gone way beyond the mark of excellence. I will actually give them 10 stars. They all have made this whole experience actually quite pleasurable.
Their product is the best I have researched. I really appreciate the fact that I have American made solar panels on my roof. Incredible service, incredible company.
I live in Auburn, grew up here. This company is local, truly local. My neighbor goes to soccer games with the owner’s son. I went to high school with the sister of the person who happened to be my sales rep. This is not why I chose HoS, but it goes to show that they are tied to the area.
I have every confidence that this company stands behind their product and service. The contractors showed up every day ON TIME, and even a few minutes early. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They took my suggestions into account and did things like finding an alternate way to route the piping from the roof to the inverters. Everything looks good, but more importantly functions perfectly.
I looked at solar for more than two years, and got bids from multiple companies. HoS was THE BEST — competitive price, incredible product, excellent service. I have recommended HoS to a dozen friends and neighbors, and will continue to do so. This company is top-notch!

I worked with Michelle (530) 392‑4881 who was extremely responsive but was never pushy at any point in our process. Early on in our evaluation of solar systems I realized that with our limited roof space a SunPower system would give us the best results. I surveyed ~15 regional SunPower dealers and at the end of the day Michele gave me the best price.
Not only did we get the best price on our SunPower system through Hooked On Solar, but we also received incredible service. We signed the paperwork on December 4^th and within two weeks permits had been pulled and the product had been installed. The service was incredibly fast and professional.
We’ve had the panels on for about a month now and performance has been great. I can’t recommend Hooked On Solar and SunPower panels enough!

1. My husband (engineer) spent months researching which company to use for our solar needs. Every panel, every statistic, every graph/chart/number was meticulously gone through before making our decision. SunPower panels are efficient, made in the USA, and carry a bigger wattage-per-panel than every other manufacturer on the market. We encourage everyone to do the research, but you won’t find a better panel anywhere.
2. Our salesperson, Lauren Zuegel (916) 525‑8246, is SMART! She crunched our numbers, gave us a great price, explained every detail of the installation/financing process, and made us feel 110% confident in our decision! Lauren was always friendly, sincere, and really made us feel like we were important.
3. Hooked on Solar employs guys (and gals) who are passionate about what they do. I have NEVER been so impressed by an installation crew in my life, and we’ve been remodeling our home for years and have worked with many companies. The installation crew arrived on time, were courteous, and truly LOVED working for their employer. How often do you see that? Never! They spoke so highly about the owners, knew every statistic and detail about the panels they were installing, answered ALL our questions during the process, and took their time to make sure everything was wired neatly and up to code. We really appreciate their hard work.
4. Solar is the way to go! Our meter runs backwards — it’s as simple as that. We currently have a -$ 87 credit with PG&E since our installation in August. We’re 110% satisfied with our purchase and tell everyone we know to give Hooked on Solar a call!

I love small businesses. I love local businesses. I love businesses that really have it together. All this love came together for us with Hooked on Solar. I am very wary of contractors after many poor experiences in the past, and these guys are specialized contractors, but, luckily, they are a breed apart. Another local solar company did a no-call/no-show for our appointment.
From the time we first called until the system was turned on, we dealt with about 6 different people for different aspects of the project. They all were very friendly and helpful but the star of the show was our «Solar Consultant», Justin Orban. He was really easy to get in touch with and always followed through extremely well and in a timely manner. He handled our install like a friend would.
The installation crew did a very nice job and they were obviously proud of it. They were friendly and happy and caring and careful. I think that’s really important because it means they’re working for a cool company and want to represent it well by doing the best work they can.
After the install was complete, I had a problem with the Internet based monitoring system. It was caused by a cable TV installer screwing up our Internet connection. I emailed the generic Hooked on Solar address since it was the Sunday before Veterans’ Day. I expected that I would hear nothing until the Tuesday after the holiday. To my surprise, I got a response from Alex about an hour and a half later — this was on a Sunday!!! We exchanged a couple more emails in which he talked me through a fix until it was back up on Veterans’ Day!!! Wow.
So now we’re happily generating a bunch of green electricity and feeling very lucky to have found a very great bunch of folks to help us do it.
