JB Packing and Kleaning

Let me start by saying the overall service was fine. I was happy with the team — they arrived on time, maintained a steady pace, and were polite and easy to work with. Scheduling was handled appropriately and at the end of the day I was a satisfied customer.
Having said that, my 1-​star rating has to do with management and communication on behalf of the office manager and ownership after moving day… a nearly 2 month saga.
I had a single damaged piece, a mirror to be exact. Not a life or death issue, quite minor in fact for a full scale move. However, the mirror was A) an antique heirloom item that B) belonged to a set of furniture with another matching mirror. As I had purchased the insurance covering damage when the mirror was broken I was upset but the crew leader Mike ensure me that he would take it to the office, have it repaired and returned. As this conversation unfolded I raised concern that the mirror, being an antique, had a beveled glass detail that I REQUESTED to be matched in order to keep the set in tact. He informed me that the team would be in touch about the details to confirm the replacement glass work and if not it would be returned so that I could have the work done via a reimbursement amount. (background I am an interior designer and have access to antique glass work that would have been performed correctly). They left and I was at ease that it would be handled.
After days of not receiving contact I reached out to the office to ensure the replacement work would be done appropriately. Brittany took my call and though she did not know the details of the event she said she would have Sherrie get in touch. That too did not happen, so again, I called a few days later and requested the information to the glass company at which the mirror would be left with so that I could contact them directly and confirm the details of the fix. I never received the information.
Shortly after I received a call about it being ready, to which I requested a the driver to notify me ahead of time of delivery so that I could be on site for drop off to confirm if the glass was fixed correct in person as no one ever confirmed for me what work was being done. I was not in a rush to have it back and across a few other phone calls informed the office staff that I just wanted it at their earliest convenience. That did not happen. Twice I received calls from drivers in route to my home, when I was not there are thus had to reschedule. Frustrating.
The cherry on top is that once it was firmly scheduled (a week in advance mind you) I arranged my day to accommodate a 3 hour delivery window on a Saturday and the driver, Terry, did not show. I then called him and was informed that he had been held up earlier in the day and also did not have a vehicle to deliver. WTF?! No courtesy call to inform me of delay, or possible re-​schedule (AGAIN) just flat out radio-​silence. With all effort made on my behalf to figure out what was going on. I told him that it was not my issue and that I wanted it delivered that day (as nearly a month and a half’s time had passed) and he told me he would be there by 7pm. He did not show, and again without a call.
It is now Monday as I sit at my desk to type this and I called their offices AGAIN to have it delivered to my office. Brittany was helpful and I rec’d a call from Terry an hour later stating he would be here before COB. He was– YAY! But as I suspected the mirror arrived with a flat glass insert as opposed to the correct beveled one that this whole ordeal was in reference to. I called the office, spoke to Sherrie and one of the owners, who to my dismay both claim, even after a lengthy explanation, that the mirror WAS fixed despite the detail being WRONG.
It’s a very simple matter. I requested the correct glass replacement and was told if it couldn’t be done the mirror would be returned in its damaged condition and a reimbursement would be give so that I could find someone to do the work myself. The owner then told me that he took it to multiple glass shops but never informed me of the issue finding someone to do the work appropriately. He just took it upon himself to have it fixed INCORRECTLY. Now that he «had it fixed» the issue is resolved in their minds and they will not offer the appropriate fix or reimbursement. The office manager also rudely accused me of «wanting more money» and the owner did not set her straight.
Bottom line– this is a terrible way to run a business and I would deter anyone from using them in the future! I am an extremely understanding customer and was willing to work with them when they broke a sentimental, potentially irreplaceable, heirloom and they still have the audacity to take no responsibility and place blame on me. I am now left with a piece that I have to come out of pocket to fix despite purchasing their additional insurance protection and they see nothing wrong with their handling of the situation. Guys showed up a little late, but called first and gave me the timeframe they’d arrive. As soon as they were off the truck they moved non stop until all was complete. I tried to move a box out of the way, but they wouldn’t hear of it. All boxes and furniture were unloaded and placed where I requested. They finished within the expected time. I will definitely give these guys a call again.

JB Packing And Kleaning is A-​OK, which is 3 stars according to Unilocal.I did not have the best experience with them, and I did not have the worst experience with them. Honestly, I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars, but the fact that I would choose to not use them in a future move made me decide to go with 3 stars, although I would not blame a single person who chooses to use them, and I expect they would have a good experience.
JB Packing and Kleaning is a small company which means you may get lucky and have one of the owners on your team. They offer Groupons (or did when I looked) and also offer competitive rates if you just call them directly, which I did. They didn’t include travel my quote, even when I asked directly if there was a travel cost. When the contract actually came to be signed, I balked at the sudden addition of travel, which they chalked up to new employee error, and matched the lower travel cost of the other comparable quote I had, though I still ended up spending more than my initial quote.
I booked what I thought was a two-​person, two-​hour job online. The long distance moving company I used (U-​Pack) parked the trailer so far from the entrance to my apartment building that it logistically made more sense for JB to move a chunk of my stuff into their truck and drive it near the freight elevator entrance and then unpack again there to bring it into the apartment complex.
Aside from time, the downside of this is that everything was unloaded, loaded and unloaded again instead of just unloaded.
I’m not a person to be emotionally tied to furniture, and I only have one «nice» piece of furniture. When we moved we sold pretty much all of our furniture save for one antique banker’s desk. Unfortunately, this is the one piece of furniture that was damaged in the move. I don’t blame them, I don’t think they were malicious or negligent, but it did happen. Because it was the first piece of furniture we packed up, it was the last piece they unpacked, and they were moving it at the end of a long day, and mistakes happen.
Because everyone was breaking a sweat and they did work hard, I did tip each person $ 20. I don’t know who was responsible for damage to the desk, but I didn’t want to let that get in the way of providing a tip to the polite and hardworking crew. The move took longer than I wanted, but I believe that was based on the logistical challenges of the Upack trailer, not JB.
I got in touch with Sherri, and we went back and forth several times before she did eventually make a peace offering because of the damage to the desk. That process was long, but Sherri repeatedly told me she was ill and not feeling well, so I am hopeful my experience was the result of that.
Ultimately, the team I got was friendly and hardworking, but I wouldn’t want to use that team again after having them damage my desk. That said, who knows, maybe that could have happened regardless of the mover. Either way, I’m sharing my experience to say my experience wasn’t great, but I suspect most people’s JB experiences are.

Best movers I’ve used. Sherri runs a busy office with good attention to detail and great customer service! We are about to move again and she set us up with the same great team who moved us a few months ago. They were very careful with our belongings and helped the move go quickly with efficiency. The men showed up on time and were polite. They were careful enough with the furniture and packed the truck well. They got the move done in a reasonable amount of time. I docked one star because they could have been more professional (they were chatting with each other through most of the loading) and they could have loaded things a bit faster. Still, a good overall experience.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Beware!!! They are rude, and ripoffs! They wholly overcharged me then RUINED my furniture, refused to view it and compensate me. I will be suing! BAD PEOPLE are here. THEY ARE NOT LICENSED TO MOVE IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA!!! Zero stars. SUE THEM IF THEY MESS UP. There is probably enough people to start a class action, now. Oh, and these fraudulent folks WRITE THEIR OWN REVIEWS so they can push down the negative reviews and contradict real customers. They are classless! Do not do business with these people. (And they advertise on groupon without using their name, so you have to do some due diligence to make sure it’s not Jay’s or JB Moving Co. Awful experience!!!

They gave me the Groupon price direct, I also used them under a different name in 2012. Moving in July is hot and these guys didn’t stop, will say the office lady is very nice too. My main issue is the truck was too small (16) and the crew did not communicate much with me or offer to extend their service. So in the 3 hours with 3 guys we got my big stuff moved but nothing else. I know for next time I need 2 trips or a bigger truck (24). For my feedback I wish they had said something in order to prioritize what I needed moved most! I still gave them a tip, it was hot and hard workers. Overall it was okay.

I have used JBPacking as movers 3 times and cannot say enough wonderful things about them !
Sherri has been a delight to work with, always available to schedule and work things out for us… Julius along with Taylor, Terry and Sean have handled our belongings with the utmost care and are ever so efficient .
They will be moving us again in the next few weeks and I would work with no one else !!

I’d have to disagree with the 1 star review. I’ve used this company for a move in 2013 because I stumbled upon a Groupon deal. At first, I was hesitant because I’ve never used Groupon.
Once the movers finished the job, I felt as if they were professional, dependable and surpassed my expectations. My Groupon was reasonable and scheduled for 4 hours. They ended up moving me from Duluth to Buckhead in 2.5 hours. I do plan on using their services again for my next move.
Honestly, I’ve used other moving companies in the past but JB Packing & Kleaning is worth every penny! I highly recommend their business.

Yup. This review is long, but accurate.
If I could’ve given zero stars, I would have. Where to start… I scheduled my appointment with this company almost 2 months in advance. I did this so that there would be no issues with the time I wanted to have the movers show up and no conflicts. When I made the appointment, the receptionist (and also part owner) Sherri, informed me that everything was good to go as they had no other moves scheduled for that day. Since then, my time and appointed crew was rescheduled over 5 times (at least) and my time ended up being 3 – 6. No big deal. I assume that if a company reschedules to a time that is convenient for THEM, then that means that they will be there at the time that THEY picked for ME. Well… after 3pm I have to call the company and find out where the movers are.
First issue: Sherri explains that a truck apparently broke down that morning and the entire day was thrown off. Well, if that was the case, why didn’t anyone call me and inform me that my move would happen a bit later? Communication is everything.
She then informed me that the owner would be calling me shortly. (He never did…) She also informed me of the new crew that would come and take care of my move. What time did they show up? 5:45pm. Mind you, based off of the time that they picked for me, I should’ve already been moved out and moved in. The crew that they sent to me did an AMAZING job. They weren’t my original crew and got called last minute to help me. Their company is called Precise Cleaning (great guys and they move quickly… I was out of my apartment and into my new one all in under 2 hours).
Sherri calls after my move is completed and says that she’ll give me a $ 20.00 credit for my inconvenience.
I’m sorry… $ 20.00? Your crew showed up, at the end of the scheduled shift that your company chose for me… and you’re only crediting me $ 20.00? Needless to say, I was very upset at her lack of concern. She then proceeds to raise her voice at me and was very unprofessional. She proceeds to yell across to me that they don’t guarantee what time their movers actually show up because «anything can happen».
Sure. I can understand that. I’m a business owner as well and I do understand that things happen… however…COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING. Once I made that statement, her response was, «Well I’m sorry!»

Yes. Yes you are. Probably one of the sorriest people I’ve ever had to work with. I’ve never used movers before, as I typically just move myself with help from a couple of friends. I wanted to support a black-​owned business because we don’t support each other enough as is. Unfortunately, this company (or at least Sherri), is proof as to why we don’t support each other. The customer service is very rarely up to par and the attitude is unnecessary. Next time, I’ll move myself or go with a reputable company here in Atlanta.
