FJC Fencing and Contracting

I am disappointed to have to write a negative review but Unilocal is all about getting the word out there to support good businesses and avoid those that don’t deserve our business. I like Frank the owner on a personal level. We could be friends and have a lot in common however I would not use his company again here’s why. Several years back I used him to do a large project at my home and was happy. This year we just needed a fence built. After getting several bids I went with Frank based on my previous experience. We got the fence installed but after a couple of weeks we noticed some problems with the concrete footings, the crowns were poured on top of dirt and were literally falling away. We sent him pictures and he promised to return. Its been almost two months since the job was done and many phone calls and emails have resulted in zero follow up. The job never got finished. I never even mentioned the plants that his workers destroyed being a little careless. Further I asked him to bid another larger job on my property and same lack of follow through happened. I made many attempts to follow up and get the bid so we could start the project but he never got it to me always an excuse and promise to have it in the next «couple of days». Too bad, Frank is a nice guy but just not dependable.

We hired FJC to do some work for us back in 2012. Frank was very personable and friendly, yet took a few calls to get a response from. First, we had a new front gate installed and one replaced. These I have to say look really nice, but over the years (within 3), I have noticed a few issues with the lock lining up and the door dragging. I am constantly having to screw the hardware back into place, but they look good… don’t know if that counts for much.
Not knowing that the workmanship would not hold up on the gates, we also hired FJC to stucco and stone the front of our house. Frank’s workers were amazing and did a great job. It continues to look good and has held up to this day (which it should because it is cemented to the exterior of our house). Couldn’t have been happier with this.
Finally, we had the 3 piers on our front porch bulked up – to draw the eye to and add a finishing touch to our redone front patio. Well, let’s just say, even after we asked about using screws to add on the wood, Frank advised us that glue would provide a lasting hold and give a better finish. It did look great (for about 1 year), then the glue began to expand and separate the wood that was added, really drawing attention to it. I guess we got what we asked for. I have tried to get a hold of Frank, with no response.
If you want my opinion, which I am sure you do because you are on Unilocal,I would say be weary and be sure to check out all options. Frank is a nice guy, but I have to say I am not 100% satisfied with his work.

I’d pass on this company. Called and left a voice mail once, no call back despite the outgoing message saying he checks his messages every hour. I got ahold of Frank the 2^nd time I called a few days later, gave him my address and what I needed done. He said he would come by within the next 3 days and email me a bid. It’s been a week and nothing. Definitely a red flag and a company I would not like to work with.

I called this company because we were really hoping to give our business to a local company. Both me and my neighbor want to replace our existing fences and I called FJC for a quote. I was told someone would come by today between 10 – 12. Sadly, not only did no one show up, but no one even called. We had two other contractors come out and both showed up on time and handed us bids on the spot. Unfortunately, whenever we do get our new fence up, and someone asks about it, we’ll be telling them about all of our experiences, including the FJC «no show».

I can’t say enough great things about FJC Fencing! This company REALLY went over and above for me. I originally hired Dynamite to come and replace a fence for me. I chose them in part because they could do the job Friday morning. When I found out after numerous phone calls at 3:45 that Dynamite could not come out after all and would not come until Monday morning, I was calling frantically everywhere. FJC agreed to do the job for me on Saturday even though their supplier was already closed. He refused to use a supplier with a lower grade material and went to San Jose early Sat AM to get the materials. Then this team came and put the fence up exactly when he said and he matched the price. I was impressed with everything about this company and will use them for everything going forward.
