Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center

I brought my car into this shop with a leaking left-​rear axle seal. When they inspected the car, they found that the axle bearing itself had failed and had damaged the axle shaft. It was necessary to replace the axle and the bearing along with the axle seal and the differential gear lube oil. While the final cost was considerably higher than the original estimate, they were able to get the new parts delivered and installed the same afternoon. Overall, this repair was handled very promptly and professionally. I won’t hesitate to go back there whenever the need arises.

Gave them 3 chances to fix a tier leak. They couldn’t handle the job, I took it to the Mexicans at the tier clinic. The Mexicans fixed it first try! Go hard working Mexicans!!!

My windshield wiper stopped in a blizzard and this car place was a block away. I pulled in and asked them to check my fuse. They asked me to sign a paper allowing them to charge me $ 50+ dollars every half hour to find the prob. I said please just check the fuse. After I signed the paper they put my car up on the lift. I asked them y they were doing this and they told me they would be with me momentarily. Over an hour later they told me the good news was it was a fuse and it would only be $ 54 to change and the bad news is I have over $ 7000 In engine issues. So could I just sign a different paper authorizing the ordering of over $ 4000 in parts so they could schedule the work. I was flabbergasted and looked at the 2 pages of work that was flagged to be done immediately. One problem stated oil was spilling into my turbo. I asked them what made them do all this checking when all I needed was a fuse. They said my engine light was on. Yes it was on and I already had that checked by my regular mechanic who told me my catalytic converter was going and the part was $ 250.00. My car is 12 years old and has 180K miles. It’s not even worth $ 7000. I noticed the mechanics were washing windows to the inside office and made a comment business must be slow. I was impressed that men would wash windows. But after getting that bill I realized mechanics are washing windows because the place is empty. Too bad. Lockport doesn’t need anymore Dollar Stores and car fix it places. Especially car mechanics who seem to take advantage of people who are at their mercy. I do not recommend this establishment.

After the 2x time of hearing my belts screech at me I think it’s time for a public service announcement against Tuffy and to let all of you know this place is SCAM!
I went to Tuffy because it was close to home and I had a friend work there in the past. I went there for an oil change and an overall check on my car. I knew already that the tie rods and belts needed to be replaced. It was 2007 car, of course it needed to be replaced. I also asked about this sound I had when I turned my car. Came time for the bill, it was around $ 420’s for 2 belts and 2 tie rods to be replaced. It was maybe 2 ½ hours of labor but charged me at almost 5 hours.
I took the car on a road trip and that’s when I started to notice my belt wasn’t tight enough. It would scream when I would back up. Took the car back complaining about that noise and that the turning sound was still there!!! Got told my belts were a little loose and that now my ball joints needed to be replaced and that would fix the sound.
They wanted to charge me almost 2x the amount in parts and labor for 2 ball joints to be replaced. They wanted $ 1400+ for a $ 700 job at the most. The parts alone only cost only cost $ 130 a piece, but they were charging $ 300!!!
Needless to say I didn’t have the work done by them. And now here I sit almost 6 months after getting my belts fixed and they still scream at me.
NEVER GOING BACK!!! This local mechanic shouldn’t be trusted

Had an issue a few years ago but recently found out the management has dealt with it since. Have taken my car to get brakes fix and they did a good job. Fair pricing, very nice owners.

This is the best Tuffy location ever! I’ve only lived in Lockport a handful of years, but they have been wonderful since day one. I took my car in not too long ago because all of a sudden it was hard to crank, and when it did, it was sputtering. When I told Susan the symptoms, she said it sounded like bad gas. And they’d just had a meeting that morning because the BP gas situation had just come to light. When I told her I wasn’t sure if the last gas purchase was from a store that bought from BP, she didn’t tell me to call and find out; she said tell her what gas station it was and she would find out! And so she did, and it was BP gas. She gave me the 800# for claims, I called it in, gave her the claim number, and she proceeded to take care of everything else without me lifting a finger. Before I knew it, I had all new parts and she handled the payment directly with BP. And dealing with BP was no small task. I had to call several times to complete the claim process, and it was a mess. Every person I spoke with gave me a different answer — I had a claim, they’d never heard of me, they heard of me but couldn’t find my file etc. I have a pretty good idea of what Susan must have gone through with BP to get this taken care of, and she never once complained. This is the kind of service you just can’t find anymore. Kudos to the Lockport Tuffy!

I have been using Tuffy in Lockport for several years, We use them for all our Company vehicles. She has always been fair and has actually work for free for a customer in trouble. I highly recommend them and I will only take my care to them. Its nice to see honorable people in this business.
