Mesa Birth provides labor and postpartum doula services, Lamaze childbirth classes, and placenta encapsulation to new parents in the Chicago suburbs.

History

Established in 2015.

Many women want and need some extra support during the childbearing year and are looking for Lamaze classes, doula services, and placenta encapsulation. Until recently women of the western suburbs needed to call a Chicago agency to find doula care, but Mesa Birth has been established to meet their needs close to home!

Melissa G.

Business Owner

Melissa has been a DONA-​certified labor doula since 2008, a Lamaze-​certified childbirth educator since 2010, and is trained and working towards certification with ProDoula as a postpartum doula and placenta encapsulation specialist. She is also a certified Happiest Baby on the Block educator and is trained in Hypnobirthing Support Techniques for Birth Professionals. She volunteers her time as Illinois State Representative for DONA International and is a member of the Board of Directors for Breastfeed Chicago.

In her free time (and often while attending one of her children’s sporting events) she enjoys reading and knitting, and stays active with a combination of dog-​walking, yoga, and some very slow jogging. She lives in Lombard, Illinois, with her husband Michael and their two school-​age boys. Everyone in her family loves babies.
