Lomita Test Only Smog Center

No one likes getting a smog check. But when you can get it done at a reasonable cost ($ 48) and be out of there in 12 minutes it makes the sting less painful. I timed it. From the moment I rolled in there to the moment I got back in my car…12 minutes! I think that’s the quickest I’ve ever experienced.
Definitely no frills. Not much of a waiting room and no refreshments, but Francisco greeted me with a smile and got me out of there in record time.

So since the my lovely registration renewal required me to have a smog check performed, I decided to see if any places were cheaper than my usual spot. I get there and the technician greeted me immediately. He promptly filled out his paperwork and pulled my vehicle into the testing area. I had acquired a coupon on
because nobody like to pay $ 78 for this test. As soon as I mentioned I had the coupon he started making excuses as why he wasn’t allowed to test my vehicle. Apparent having a California legal BBK air intake is a problem for these people. So yea, this place falsely advertises a discount and fails to provide a service. The technician couldn’t even give me a proper explanation as to why and only said it was the owners rule. So yea, don’t waste your time or effort going to this place. Instead drive a block and go to A&A smog where the service is always legit.

Came into the place and waited 10 minutes. Wait time was ok. Price was ridiculous! Almost 80 $ for a smog only. No way. Stay away if you want to save money.

Fast and easy. Used online coupon which made it less expensive than others in the area. Would definitely go back.

He explained to me what he was going to do and the cost. He did what he said he would and got me out of there.

Location is hard to find. But in and out quickly. $ 58 total and some places wanted to charge way more.

I would definitely call before you come, just to make sure the owner and sole operator is there and they’re open. The place is hidden at the end of what looks like a back alley. From PCH, you’d drive past it without a second glance, with only a small brightly-​colored sign that says «Smog Check» visible, next to a non-​descript metal gate. There’s just a small shed located in a back lot (it’s the first shed and not the larger warehouse that belongs to the Lexus auto shop in the very back). There are no frills here, with only a hotbox trailer room big enough for one, maybe two, while you’re waiting. But, it’s a test-​only smog check center, and if you need your smog check done in a pinch, it’s not a bad place to go. The prices have gone up recently, which is why I’m giving it 2 stars. It was $ 48 for autos last year, and that included the smog certificate for the DMV. Now, the base price is $ 69.75 for autos and trucks, with an additional $ 8 for the certificate. That just seems too steep. But, perhaps this is all a result of the economy.

Sketchy location. I think there’s only one guy working here. I pulled in and got ignored for 10 minutes. There was no indication that I was ever going to be helped. I didn’t want to wait around in a back alley forever, so I left and going to A & A Smog Away 2 blocks east of this place.
