The Home Depot

Drove to Lompoc, on a Saturday, from Solvang to talk shutters for my new house. No questions were answered. They arranged for Avalon Shutters in Ontario, CA to have an in home consultation with us. Avalon called the next business day to arrange a 2 hour window for the following Saturday. Nobody showed up. Nobody called. I tried to call their office and they’re closed. Home Depot basically handed us off to a 3^rd party and never checked back to make sure we were taken care of. Two wasted Saturday’s.
UPDATE: One week later, still no follow-​up. Going to be spending $ 9k in shutters with Budget Blinds.

I just went in to LOOK at kitchens and met a woman named Diane helped me. Not only did I buy a kitchen but new wood floors too. If u need help stArting a huge kitchen remodel here is a good place to start

Terrible experience. Terrible service and a total lack of knowledge. I wasted both time and money trying to work with their flooring department and ended up doing it on my own. Nope.

Our licensed contractor recently purchased our new Rheem water heater from the Lompoc Home Depot. After only a couple weeks the gas company had to come out for an emergency call on a Sunday because it was a defective unit and leaking gas. Home Depot was non-​responsive in trying to solve the situation and their store manager, Bruce, was rude and offensive.
This is not the first time we have had a terrible experience with an appliance from Home Depot. They do not stand behind the products they sell.
We were told by the gas company that this water heater was extremely dangerous and could have exploded in a ball of fire. One of our bedrooms is on the other side of the wall where it was positioned. When we told this to Home Depot, Bruce said «He didn’t care.»
We would advise anyone reading this review to not purchase any appliances from Home Depot. They’re selling exploding water heaters.

Over all the store is nice, clean, and most of the people are friendly. I am a contractor so I am at a home depot at least every other day if not multiple times a day depending on the project. At every other home depot they have a pro rewards program that at different spending levels you get a 2 – 3.5% discount. Fresno, madera, vislaia, tulare, san jose, oakland, Sacramento, modesto, merced, San Diego, Los Angeles, all theses home depots honor this program. The lompoc home depot has no clue what it is. In fact there is no option to type your number in on the keypad. When I went to the pro desk they had no idea. Talked to the manager no idea. The manager offered a one time discount but could not honor what every other home depot does in California. Bought items and left.
So next time I’m going to purchase items my customer is with me. Because they have 5% discount instead of going to Lowe’s and using her home depot credit card. WHAT??? Lowe’s is over an hour drive away, but they won’t give me my rewards discount because I am a loyal home depot customer.
If there was another hardware store in the area I would purchase all my items from there.

The greeter at the door is nice. Then you get to the customer service desk where you really think they’d attempt to live up to their title. Nope, not even close. My husband and I stopped in there last night to pick up an order that we drove way out of our way to get. A 45ish year old brunette woman walks up there and sees us but doesn’t bother greeting us. The one guy who is actually working (handling returns) is busy, but she proceeds to act dramatic and important and continue to pretend to be busy (while doing absolutely nothing), while making a point to not look in our direction, while we stand there for a few minutes in the online order pickup line. She proceeds to take a call on a cell phone, then gives a very serious answer (as if she has a fire to put out somewhere in the store), before swiftly walking away. I’ll assume you’re a manager of some sort based, so shame on you for ignoring customers in your store that you made eye contact with when you walked up. A young hispanic girl comes back up with customers and sees us, but waits for a couple of minutes to tell us she’ll be with us in a moment. We wait a couple more minutes, she finishes up. Then she turns to help a hispanic family who walked in during those two minutes. I’m thinking she must be letting them know she’ll be with them after helping us since she already told us she’d be with us and she clearly saw when they came in, but nope. She doesn’t even turn back to us to apologize or anything. She clearly needs a different job that doesn’t involve working in customer service. The guy who was helping the customer with a return when we first walked up finally finishes up and cheerfully greets us, pulls up our order, then tells us he’ll pull our item. As he does, the young hispanic girl turns and nonchalantly asks if we’ve been helped. «Uh yah, he helped us while you went and helped those other people»… she simply says ok. Again, no apology. The nice guy comes back with our order and gives it to us and we finish up our two minute transaction with him. Really, was that so painful that nobody else could do that for us??? We pass the nice young door greeter, and swear we are done with home depot and their horrible customer service for good.

the worst remodeling experience we’ve ever had… spent $$$,$$$‘s of dollars on a complete remodel and EVERYTHING was ordered wrong, including a 750 square foot mis-​order of carpet. These morons couldn’t get a thing right. Go to Nielsen’s in Solvang. DON’T wast your money or time here.

I really hope I never need to do business here again. I’m so disappointed with the lack of customer care, extra fees and disrespectful staff. The inventory selection is nice and it is an easy convenient store for home improvements.
I wanted to get new carpet before the holidays and the staff said it was no problem. I paid the $ 50 for a measurement, waited the two hour window for the appointment. The guy came to measure, but was not able to provide any suggestions or information on carpet or the installation process. The next day I got a call with the estimate, again they could provide no suggestions or information on carpet or the installation process. I called the store, waited on hold for 15 minutes while the manager tried to locate someone in the dept. with no luck. So I offered to call back later. I called back several hours later with the same outcome. I stopped by the store that evening and after the manager was able to locate a flooring specialist, we went over my options and the estimate. When we sat down I was very clear that objective is to get carpet installed by Tuesday, this was Wednesday night. During the visit the sales associate was very curt, provided little information on the carpet material, life coatings etc. basically, if it wasn’t printed on the display he had no idea.
After 45 minutes of getting everything in the computer and adjusting the estimate he asked how I’d like to pay. I asked what day they would do the install and he said that they’d call me in a day or two.
I reminded him that if it couldn’t be installed by Tuesday that I’d have to wait, at which point I’d order a nicer carpet. Additionally, I asked about the military discount and he said it didn’t apply to this purchase although we were told it applied to every purchase.
That is when I got up and informed him that I wouldn’t be making a decision today.
I proceeded to the customer care Center to speak with a manager. When the Associate finished what she was doing on Her cell phone, They called a manager and stated that a young lady would like to talk to them regarding flooring, they let me know where the flooring dept was and asked if I could provide more information on what I needed the manager about. I told them customer care and service. I was told the manager was on her way, but it would be a few minutes. A few minutes later they called back, the associates laughed and chatted before hanging up and letting me know it would be a few more minutes.
After several minutes I asked the associate to let the manager know that I’d be taking my business some where else and left.
The next day a local flooring shop representative came over to measure the house, show me samples, and provide me an estimate. We had new carpet installed the next week.
Bottom line I as able to get it installed cheeper, easier and a better quality carpet thanks to much nicer and professional people from a local shop.
Good bye Home Depot, we are going back to the small local stores.

I had to walk through most of the store before I located an employee to help me. I find the cashiers are a hit or miss for pointing me towards the right aisle. Good selection of plants but not everything has a tag or sign indicating the price.

I LOVE Home Depot. Service is not the best, but the location, lines, and the vast selection is great!

Had a «special» whole house install of special order laminate flooring for only $ 397.00. The flooring was only 1.89 a square foot and was approximately $ 2,000.00 they nickeled and dimed the estimate till the total amount was over 5,000.00. Plus you prepaid 50.00 dollars for someone to come measure (something I could have done myself). Do not use this company if you plan on saving any money. Don’t know how a $ 397.00 whole house install could become a $ 3,000.00 install. I will never go to Home Depot for any contracted services again.

I can’t say enough good things about Bobbi in the kitchen design center. Because of schedule conflicts I only had one day to design and order my new kitchen cabinets and granite before the very substantial coupons expired. Bobbi worked with me most of the day and even after her scheduled shift ended so we could get the order in by the time the store closed. In addition to her patience she was very knowledgeable and thorough in ordering every piece I needed. I am so grateful we have a store like Home Depot in Lompoc and that it is staffed by employees like Bobbi.
