Established in 2013.

Body Philosophy is a clinical yet luxurious day spa that offers healing as well as relaxing treatments. Our slogan is «Where communicating with your body, means listening with our hands» and we stand by that. At Body Philosophy, we treat you like royalty with our exemplary staff of highly trained, highly qualified massage and skin care specialists in Long Beach.

Hi! My name is Deb and I am the owner of Body Philosophy Spa in Long Beach, CA. I have been a therapist for 9 years now and I love what I do. I have not always been a therapist, having run the gammit of careers over the my life span, but I am happy to say that I have found massage therapy to be both rewarding and a passion.

The reason for opening a day spa is because I felt people deserved more than just a service. They deserve the best we «healers» have to offer. I have never just given a plain ol’ massage. I have always done my work first with the intention of healing and then putting every amount of skill I have in the massage so that the outcome is what I and the client is seeking. I stand by that and have sworn never to give a bad massage.

I have well chosen a staff with like-​minded qualities and have every confidence in the world that they will make you feel the same as I do about our family here at Body Philosophy Spa…

Georgina and Debbie are amazing! My facial with Georgina was much needed to begin with but her knowledge in skin care sold me, I used to work for a spa that specialized in acne treatments and know a great esthetician when I meet one, I can’t wait to come back in a few weeks for my chemical peel! When you find your esthy hold on to them! Lol
Debbie really did a great job on the reiki! I feel beyond relaxed right now and it was very much needed after everything that has been happening in both my career and personal life. I look forward to making an appointment with her soon!

Awesome experience here. Debbie, the owner, answered the phone and got me set up with a quick appointment with Jazzy. She offered water as soon as I walked in and was really sweet and genuine about wanting me to have a good experience. I told her I wanted someone with strong hands and Jazzy didn’t disappoint. She hit every problem area I had and the music was really soothing. Honestly, I’ve never had a better massage, professional or casual. You can tell she really knows the medical side of massage therapy– nerves and pressure points. and for me, that’s exactly what I needed. I will absolutely be back, sooner than later!
**parking can be a bit tricky if you don’t know where you’re going, but if you leave a few minutes early to get there, you’ll be fine.

Both times I’ve gone, Debbie has given me an extraordinary deep tissue massage. I have scar tissue in my left shoulder joint and in my right hip that she was able to loosen up quite a bit. Will definitely go back.
I have to add that I had a hypnotherapy consultation with Dawnmarie a while back that was truly outstanding. It was like a deep tissue massage for the subconscious. I felt incredibly peaceful for the next few days. Then life crept back in a bit. But I know regular work with her will do wonders in the long run. I look forward to future sessions with her.

Body Philosophy Spa is absolutely amazing! I decided to take my mother here as a Mother’s Day gift, and, as soon as we walked through the door, they were beyond welcoming and greeted us with such enthusiasm. Their customer service continues to exceed my expectations throughout the appointment, and Debbie and the front desk receptionist were so accommodating to me even though I was just tagging along with my mom. They were both very helpful and understanding towards my mom and myself since we are relatively new to this whole experience and were so sweet about us running a bit late. My mom’s appointment lasted the full hour, as promised, and didn’t get cut short because of the consultation beforehand. I truly appreciate Debbie making certain that the time began at the time of the massage and not a minute sooner.
In addition to their service, the place is so clean and gives off such a relaxing atmosphere! I was studying for my Finals in the lounge and nearly dozed off a few times since it felt so home-​y
All in all, this was an amazing experience for my mom and me, and I would definitely recommend the place to others and plan to be back in the near future with my dad for Father’s Day!

I purchased a groupon for a maternity massage. When arriving at the facility, the receptionist had her back turned to me and I had to greet her first for her to even notice I was there. She seemed confused and gave me paperwork to do in the «lounge». However when Jazzy, the massage therapist, came in she said that I was given the wrong paperwork and needed to fill out paperwork again for the maternity massage. So even though I arrived early to my appointment, I had to fill out 3 pages of paperwork, was told I was given the wrong ones and given 2 more full pages to fill out. Maybe the receptionist should look at what type of appointments are scheduled instead of having me sit there past my appointment time because of her mistake.
Jazzy was a sweet massage therapist with good pressure and a calming demeanor. However, I wouldn’t really say Amy Winehouse and fast-​tempo Sublime songs are relaxing spa music choices. At the end of my massage, I could hear loud voices talking and then a huge loud crashing sound like a bunch of stuff just fell to the ground. Definitely ruining my relaxation. I regret purchasing the groupon but feel better that I didn’t pay full price for this place or I would have really been sorry.

I see her for massage, deep tissue work. I haven’t had a massage therapist

I have now had two facials at Body Philosophy with Georgina. What a wonderful salon! Georgina was attentive, gentle, yet extremely thorough. The microdermabrasion she performed was excellent! I travel frequently with my job and my skin was lacking life and was quite dehydrated. But when I left, I felt ten years younger! My skin is still glowing and my crows feet are definitely less defined! She also recommended a new primer and gave me a sample. I love it and will now buy the product. Georgina was very knowledgable in her profession and was also very kind. Sometimes it’s hard to find both of those traits together. I was completely pampered and will be definitely returning to Georgina at Body Philosophy! Thank you.

I was looking for a skilled aesthetician to help my skin look the best it possibly could. After a false start with another spa where the aesthetician was driving out of the parking lot while I was driving in for my appointment! Her assistant told me she was going to pick up lunch! I started my search again and found Georgina!!! It was a match made in heaven! She’s given me multiple microdermabrasion treatments and my skin looks and feels so much better. I was mostly concerned with uneven skin tone and she has done wonders for it! She’s a rare combination of highly skilled, knowledgeable, professional, patient, warm and friendly. You can tell that she has a genuine love for what she does. She’s taught me so many things about my skin and given me lots of tips. I recommend Georgina 100% to anyone who needs professional skin care.

I’ve been interviewing massage therapists for 3 weeks. I have a number of chronic physical problems that require deep tissue manipulation to provide relief. I walked into Body Philosophy Spa expecting a typical experience. What I receive there was excellent customer service, reasonable pricing & a massage that was nothing short of amazing.
I’ve experienced hundreds of massages. As a result, I’m can be hyper-​critical when it comes to massage therapy. Debbie the owner/​therapist extraordinaire who worked on me was outstanding at her craft. She listened to my body & adjusted her approach to fit my needs. She seemed other-​worldly in her ability to measure my limits & affect change in my problem areas. Moreover, she appreciated my service to country & rewarded my veteran status by offering me a substantial discount despite the fact that her prices are already comparatively reasonable. I don’t often give recommendations for services such as these due to the mediocrity I’ve experienced. However, I can highly recommend Body Philosophy Spa as the place to receive healing, helpfulness & happiness. For veterans & civilians alike, if you want relief from pain, increased flexibility & a better quality of life, I strongly suggest you try Body Philosophy, the best spa in Southern California… bar none.

I had an awesome past life reading and chakra clearing from Wendy F. I felt really clear and healed of a lot of past energy and karma. The reading was fun and interesting. She could see things about my past lives that offered closure and healing in this life. Her intuition is keen as well. Her professionalism allowed me to feel safe. I recommend Wendy for energy, Chakra, massage, or past life work. She is a true healer.

Went here for my first waxing and Georgina was amazing! Made me feel totally comfortable from the phone call through the waxing itself. There was also an awesomely fun area for my friend’s seven year old to hang out and have fun while I got waxed so the time just flew for all of us! The waxing itself was totally comfortable. I had no idea what to expect. You get used to the feel and what I liked the most was Georgina was thorough, down to getting the last hairs. Oh I got the Brazillian btw. Recommend this place

THIS REVIEW IS FOR MY RECENT HYPNO-​MASSAGE SESSION.
I had the pleasure of working with gifted Hypnotherapist, Dawnmarie and Massage-​Therapist/​Owner, Debbie. This is a brand new service from their new Alternative Menu. I didn’t know what to expect but was excited to try it.
The 90-​min session started with a thorough intake with Dawnmarie in the comfy lounge where she got to know me and the specific issues I’m currently working on. She then did several Hypno exercises with me to delve deeper into those issues with visualizations work. Then the session moved to the massage treatment room where Dawnmarie did some testing on how open my mind is to hypnosis. She worked at my level and it felt very comfortable. I was worried that I wasn’t suggestible enough for this kind of work, but she explained that everybody is suggestible — some just more than others.
Then I got onto the massage table and Dawnmarie and Debbie worked together to create a truly AMAZING experience… visualization and progressive relaxation was complimented by massage (a soothing, more gentle touch than my usual deep tissue work). Debbie even gave me a food scrub since I told her my feet were sore! When the session ended, I was totally relaxed and felt rejuvenated… It felt SOOOO GOOD!
It’s been 3 days since my session and I can say that the effects of the session were TRANSFORMATIVE… the issue I was working on has lost its energy and I feel much more in control and less stressed.
Highly recommended for anyone who would like to be super-​pampered and work on both the mind and the body at the same time!

I had a massage by Jenise and a facial with Sarah. I had purchased an amazon local deal for both services and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get an appointment.
The spa itself is very easy to miss. Parking is easy as it is under the building.
Overall ambiance of the spa is lacking. Lights are bright. Robes are thin.
Facial was good overall. My skin looks better than ever! But a few things annoyed me… When Sarah turned on the lights to examine my skin, she didn’t have anything to cover my eyes. I had to ask. Most places put something dark over your eyes. She put some moistened gauze over my eyes after I asked, but it was still uncomfortable to have the spotlight right on my face.
Massage was okay. Nothing great. It seemed a little disorganized. She never asked me how the pressure felt. When you’re laying face down, its a bit hard to speak up and say you’d like more or less pressure. However, she did get out quite a few knots.
This place was okay, nothing great. With so many spas in Long Beach to choose from, I don’t think that this one stands out.
