I am truly sad this place changed ownership and now serves low quality teriyaki. The chicken is super low quality with dark meat. I used to come here since 2006 when the previous owners started and everything was top notch quality. Now it is like any basic teriyaki out there. So unfortunate that the new owners decided to change up the quality of their food. I will miss having a near by place for quality teriyaki.

One of the things I love about this please is the customer service. The 2 young ladies that work the registers are always nice. I never have to ask for anything like sauce, they always ask if you need it and to me that’s a plus. Now the food. One of my favorite roll is the crunch roll. Really good. They come in 2 sizes. The first time I came here I ordered the 5 piece, and 20mins later I was back to place a new order, so now I just order the 10 piece. The popstrickers or gyozas are really good. The place is always clean and there’s a lot of seating area. Great little spot to stop by for lunch.

I always get the Chicken wrap and miso soup for lunch when I come here. Highly recommend it. It’s walking distance from my work so it’s one of the fewest places I’ll order take out from.

Bento boxes with plenty of food. Comfy atmosphere with TV and nice outdoor sitting. I would most likely to return for another lunch.

Was a regular until they got greedy and now their servings are smaller, they actually have smaller bowls than before so they can give you smaller portions without you realizing it, also 7.25 for vegetable tempura is pretty expensive when all u get is a couple of pieces of fried veggies. Sad.

I just recently left a tip about this place being my favorite spot for the beef terriyaki! But the last two times I’ve gone I’ve just got chunks and chunks of fatty meat. Some people may like this. But it kinda grosses me out and just makes me thing the quality is not very good. The prices are reasonable but I’m a struggling nursing student and eating out is extra penny pinching then spending it on food that isn’t enjoyed is the the worst! Prolly won’t be headed back for a while…

Still really like this place. The customer service is really good. Real stand up people. Trying to get my coworker to eat here. I was mistaken, there’s a color menu to grab. It’s like the girl there, read this. The day after I posted this, she pointed this out. The chicken bowls are a bit more expensive than flame broiler but so worth it. Also, they have sake there. I’ll let you marinate on that. Good food and sake… Your welcome.

I am usually completely against leaving bad Unilocal reviews, but people need to know when a business charges $ 8.50 for an unagi bowl and only gives 4 tiny pieces of unagi with a ton of salad and rice. It was immensely disappointing, but I’ll at least leave more than 1 star because whatever was there was still delicious, did come with three slices of avocado, and the service was at least prompt and courteous.

I love California sushi and teriyaki. They have the best sushi rolls, and I have had about almost all of them but the best to get are: –California rolls, crunch rolls, dragon rolls and tiger rolls. The teriyaki is also very good and if you are looking for a bargain you can get the California bowl and it comes with teriyaki chicken, rice and 2 pcs of California rolls for like $ 5.95! Can’t beat that price. Also, if you eat inside, you can grab bottles of teriyaki and Sriracha sauce for your table. Staff is friendly and there hasn’t been a negative thing I can say about this place! I live in San Diego now but whenever I come to Long beach I make it a must to stop by when I can.

Great quick quality sushi. Not necessary a date night but a SOLID lunch spot or quick dinner by yourself.

This is probably the most unpleasing Japanese location. We ordered a salad and it was very expensive for the quality delivered. A piece of avocado ruined the whole salad. It looked old and rotten. My own order consisted of the udon combo and it had no flavor. The sushi is added to the combo and honestly it was not that great. The size is ridiculously small and doesn’t even fill a single person. If i could give this place no stars i would. I even found a tiny fly in my udon. Disgusting as hell. Never coming back :)

It was very average and a bit expensive for what is offered. I ordered the teriyaki chicken combo bowl and it was underwhelming. The yakisoba left a weird after taste in my mouth and the teriyaki flavor was whatever. I won’t be back

The tempura here that comes with the Chicken Teri Bento Box are bigger than other places I’ve been to. The Shrimp Tempura is a jumbo shrimp, not some small shrimp with a bunch of batter to it. You can taste a large amount of shrimp with each bite, yummy!!! I would recommend this place if you are down here in this neck of the woods of Long Beach Blvd and Willow. I’ve been here in the past and that’s one of the reasons I stopped by today when looking for something to eat that was somewhat healthier… even though tempura is a fried food in my book.

So here goes — — I liked it so much I came here twice in the same week and ordered the same thing. I was working the area and had to come! I ordered the teriyaki combo and ate the entire thing! The staff was super friendly and attentive! Gets crowded around lunch but definitely worth the wait! I also liked that they have big screen tv’s so I was able to catch a game while taking my lunch! Highly recommend and considering trying the sushi next time!

This place is okay. Came here twice now. There’s a lot of tables and chairs inside. Plus it’s usually not busy! I’ve never seen it get busy. The food is okay. Not bad but not the greatest either! I ordered the chicken teriyaki plate because I wanted the salad. Turns out the salad dressing wasn’t that good. I wish they had a different dressing to choose from. But the chicken teriyaki was delicious. Especially with some hot sauce. MmMm, yummy! I did finished everything. Haha with some help though. Overall, I would come here again but I’d rather get flame broiler! Which is nearby. That’s just in my opinion though. I guess it depends on what I’m craving!

This is one of the besr Sushi place that I have been dining in. One of the longest restaurant serving the community of Long Beach. My favorite dish is the beef box. It has a sweet teriyaki sauce that I still crave until now. Their sushi is also delicious. Great customer service as well.

California Sushi and Teryiaki is located on the corner of Long Beach Blvd and Willow. You’ll see a Burger King on the corner. There’s also a Subway close by in the same plaza. I ordered to go, which is not optimal, because sushi should be eaten as fresh as possible. However, sometimes I have to order to go because I have three small children; it’s too hard to handle them in a restaurant. I ordered a ten piece sushi special and a dragon roll. The total came out to $ 24.96. The sushi special consisted of two pieces each of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, eel, and shrimp. Most of the pieces were of average quality, and the salmon and yellowtail stood out as being the best. The yellow tail was actually melt in your mouth quality. The dragon roll was okay. Avocado and eel rested atop a california roll. California Sushi and Teriyaki doesn’t offer toro or uni – two of my favorites. $ 24.96 is too steep in my opinion for the quality of sushi you get here. The yellowtail and salmon are good, but the shrimp is subpar. The tuna is just ok, as well as the eel. I might return in the future to try the non sushi items, but I wouldn’t come specifically for sushi.

Unilocalers! I cannot believe how much you all failed me today. I spent close to 30 bucks for a very light lunch, which isn’t THAT cheap, even if it is sushi. Times must be rough because the sushi rolls were quarter sized, my teriyaki salmon was as flat as my fork(and chewy), and my salad was all the white parts of the iceberg lettuce… what is that about?! I’m all about supporting local business and family owned restaurants, but this just wasn’t worth my money.
